yo! this is a sort of choose your own setting sort of deal. i've come up with three settings inspired by film, tv, or game. you simply choose the one you like best and, from there, we'll come up with a plot and characters. if you're interested, just shoot me a PM. if you've a setting of your own to suggest, don't hesitate to reply.
just to give you a broad idea of me as an rper, i've provided a short list below. i only ask that you be willing to work with whatever i mention there. besides that, this rp is pretty much what we both make of it. there's going to be a lot of world building. i'm looking for something more serious, realistic and dark. something more gritty than your average roleplay.
- Romance. I'd really like something that develops into a strong relationship, nothing spur of the moment or fast paced. I'm totally open to something more platonic and actually kind of prefer it that way as well. As for pairings, I'm most comfortable with mxm and mxf. Plot-wise, the pairing and relationship building just has to be realistic for whatever setting we throw our characters into.
- RP posts. I adore quality posts. Something obviously well thought-out and directed. I tend to stray a bit in my own posts but always kind of have an objective in the end. Here it's quality over quantity. If the situation calls for shorter posts, by all means, let it be that way.
- Activity. I am trying to become a more active roleplayer but, please, don't expect me to be on every day, or every other for that matter. I may post once a day or have time enough for multiple, it all just depends on what's going on at home. However, I promise you that I won't be gone longer than a week without prior notice.
- Mood and pace. I tend to get really serious and obnoxiously slow sometimes. Drawing out certain scenes or being melodramatic is just my thing. If at anytime you feel like you'd like to push things along, don't hesitate to suggest so! It won't hurt my feelings or anything. I'd rather a happy rp partner than one silently annoyed with my posts.
- Lastly, Content. I'm pretty accepting of most things whether it be violence, drugs, cursing, etc. However, I do expect us to abide by forum rules.
Settings ** keep in mind that you don't have to have any prior knowledge of any setting inspiration mentioned below. there will be no connections to any plots or characters used and i'd be more than willing to explain anything you might find confusing.
Inspiration: Mad Max
notes: this would be early mad max. everything prior to mad max 2. most born to this new world have no knowledge of the life lived before. all they do know is what lies in the present. it's grease and dirt and the smell of gasoline. with any known civilization near the brink of collapse, you must navigate settlements while also avoiding the dreaded gangs that have cropped up over the years. this barren landscape takes pity on no one and to survive you must manage the unspeakable. Inspiration: 30 Days of Night
notes: i get the movie's not really that great but i like the premise. take this idea, plunge the world into its next ice age and make the vampirism epidemic large scale and you have the idea for this next setting.
the world's gone dark. the days are short and the nights long. it's been years since the fall of human kind. another has long since claimed supreme. vampires, blood-thirsty and savage, roam the night. they search for those still living and only break to take cover come sunup. survivors of this new-age must do their biding in the day and pray safe passage during the night. Inspiration: Fallout 4
notes: it's fallout with less technology and more ferals. radiation's become the silent killer. it's not a matter of if but when you lose your mind. it makes you rabid and hungry and dangerous. this is modern day america and nuclear holocaust. to survive you must protect yourself from the elements while simultaneously avoiding ferals and other potential threats.
i'd be open to other settings as well: TWD, terminator, etc.

just fyi, most all my characters are going to be in their mid-twenties or early thirties. also, i'd be willing to provide a few rp samples if you'd like so just ask.

I'm interested ^^ mostly in the mad max or 30 days of night, more so the later but I'm good with either if you prefer mad max! I just don't know much about fallout unfortunately. Do you have a particular character in mind and if possible do you have an average rp sample? I tend to try and match my partner, but I can't be excessively lengthy on my iPad sadly and I use my computer just for school

hello! i'd be down for the latter. really, you don't have to know anything about the movie or game. a quick google search could give you all the information you needed. if you have any questions, though, i'd love to hear them. we're just taking the settings and, still even, changing them as we see fit.
this is about average for me. i do go a lot longer sometimes and would be willing to go shorter still if you're not comfortable with this length. i mirror whatever my partner gives me unless the situation calls for something different. it's really whatever you're down for.
The silence that followed was near deafening but, however unnerving it might be, Nick let it settle around them like a cool fog. His gaze trailed after every motion the man made, the change in his expression or the shift in his weight. One could learn a great deal about another if they just stood still and listened. No words need be spoken; one just had to observe. As the man's expression quickly changed from one of sympathy to self-doubt, Nick felt an ounce of tension leave his shoulders, finding slight comfort in that fact that the man felt need to be critical of his offer.
His gesture of peace was appreciated, to say the least, and Nick lowered his own hands in compliance. Though he was sure the man wouldn't need the ax regardless if he meant harm, it felt good to have it out of his hands. In anything, it gave Nick time enough to bolt if he had to. As he continued to express a pang of guilt or possible confusion toward Nick's own reaction, Nick stood straighter, pulling his shoulder up as he inhaled a breath of pure confidence. His caution felt well fitted given the circumstances of their dying world. Perhaps this stranger didn't know it yet but the time for courtesy and open arms was over.
Curling one hand around his pack's strap, knowing it'd be best to drop the weight if he needed to run, Nick listened as the stranger spoke of his offer for a second time. He seemed awful eager to have his company and Nick wasn't sure whether to feel comforted by that notion or terrified. Settling somewhere between the two feelings, his hesitation staying his feet, Nick watched even closer. Trying to decipher whatever ill-intent the stranger might have was as easy to Nick as giving up the rights to his own pride, impossible. The man was damn near convincing. As the stranger finished his story, Nick practiced the same patience he'd done before and stood quiet. Everything he'd said had a certain ring to it, a believability that stood fast. He could doubt the man, and he did, but Nick felt almost certain everything he'd said had been true. Pursing his lips and clenching his jaw, he simply nodded, almost surprised by the action. Lowering his gaze to the ground, he winced. "No. Uh- Can you just-" Looking back up, he locked eyes with the man. "I'm lost. You show me the road out of here and, maybe, I trust you. You got a great story there but, fact is, offers like this is what gets you killed anymore. You seen the news lately?" He paused, letting that sink in before carrying on. "Maybe I'm being a bit stubborn here but pardon me on the excuse that the world has gone to hell."
as for whether i've got any specific characters in mind, i have been wanting to use my OC Lewis for a long while now. he's a bit unhinged and sadistic so befitting, i think, of this setting. especially with it being so far into the apocalypse.

Your writing is lovely, I love your style and attention to detail~ I think I can match, I might be a bit shorter depending on the situation at hand and how much time I have to type a reply. If the situation is more interesting than I am able to go longer, but if things in the plot are interesting I should be able to do a similar length. Oh I always love an unhinged character haha, is twenties an alright age range? I'd like a strong relationship as well, whether it remains platonic or not doesn't matter too much to me. I'm also comfortable with male or female, but I'm more used to rping male if you're ok with that?
Also- do you have anything specific in mind plot wise? I like the setting and I feel like it provides plenty of opportunity for an interesting plot, so we could figure something out!

thank you. i really appreciate that. ^^ length isn't really a worry. mostly, i just care about the content. as long as i've got something to work with, believe me, there's no issue. i'm pretty lax and don't want to pressure you to reply too quickly. i take ages if i'm interested in what i'm writing about.
a twenties age range is fine and us both rping male charries doesn't bother me at all. c; just to be clear, though, this would be an mxm pairing then? just want to make sure you're cool with that. i'd prefer something mostly platonic and certainly developed, though.
here's the hangup. xp i've got the settings but nothing solid plot-wise. i could fire out a few ideas but there'd all be pretty basic. did you have anything specific you'd like to try out? i'll brainstorm a little here.

Of course! Ok awesome, I can deliver on content and with time hopefully some long posts but I always do at the least a paragraph or two
Yes, I'm fine with mxm although a prefer a strong bond first and I agree I like mostly platonic, although I'm ok with some romance I don't like surpassing kissing I'd rather develop an interesting relationship.
I'm alright with basic, we can build off of them. I don't have anything particular in mind, I haven't done a rp including vampires as an enemy in ages. I suppose we could have one muse as a part of a resistance and the other just trying to scrape by, maybe the resistance one needs to hide from the vampires and was somehow separated quite a distance from his group and needs the other's reluctant help?

that's totally fine. c;
alright, that'll be cool. i'm pretty much the same with everything you've mentioned. i've also never really thought of lewis as gay, more so straight, so it'll be interesting to see how this all folds out for him. hm.
i'm not really fond of resistant plots, tbh. and especially with the way things are going, there'd be few humans left to join such a thing if it did exist. at least with what i'm picturing. we could give it a go but, if you're up for it, could we try something else? maybe it's a race for southern borders? people are looking for more time during the day to operate in, to prepare. rumor is, the further south you travel, the warmer it gets and the longer the days run. however, to travel such distance, you need a lot of planning. muse a's had months and they feel they're nowhere near ready enough. the threat of being caught out at night is a fear every beating heart carries. while searching for supplies, he runs into muse b, a man suffering from a recent run in with the dead. and i'm losing it here. xp i'm still thinking so sorry it's taking me so long to respond. have you got anything to add? are you liking the idea?
EDIT: also, just so we've got some idea of what the vampires are like, i was thinking something more classic? they burn in the sun and you can kill them by decapitation, a stake through the heart, the usual. they're not really effected by anything religious(e.i. crosses and holy water) and don't have a reaction to garlic. it's more so the gnarly, realistic attributes that they carry over from folklore. when they die, they don't turn into dust. they're a corpse at act as such unless burned away by sunlight. they're mostly mindless beings driven mad by hunger. you can try to reason with them as they do speak and form thoughts on their own, but you almost never get through to them. you can turn into one, the process just requires that you also drink their blood. most times, though, vampires are too hungry to care whether you survive after or not. there's enough of them as it is and a food shortage. they'll fight amongst themselves for a decent meal so odds are that, if you get caught, you won't make it.

If you'd really like I can rp a female, I just generally prefer males. I'm mostly interested in a strong bond anyway, so I hope mxm is still ok with you?
That's alright, resistance was just the first idea that came to my mind, your idea works just as well. One has been carefully planning an escape for months because they hear the south is warmer and there are more survivors down there than there are up north, and their overall chance of survival is much higher. Muse B insists on joining after a startling attack they just survived and Muse A doesn't have time to argue.
I'm good with burning in the sun, but maybe not turning to ash immediately, but it takes a minute or so before they're done for. I think the ways to kill them works for me, but maybe you have to light them on fire as well if you stab them in the heart? Also I think I would prefer not all of them being mindless, maybe the newer ones are or those that haven't eaten for longer, but they can be quite cunning if you run into the wrong one and some keep humans for a meal that lasts rather than just kill them quickly. I'm also good with the way you turn, you have to have to drink their blood as well

no, mxm is totally fine. i actually kind of prefer those pairings so this is cool. i'm just saying that it'd be interesting to see how lewis would respond to any sort of relationship. that's all.
that's pretty much it, yeah.
having them last a tad longer in sunlight sounds fine. however, i'm not 100% certain on what you mean by the second. is it that you have to set them afire to be certain of their demise or that they burst into flames when being stabbed through the heart? having a few smarts ones running around sounds fine to me also and could even be a plot device later in the rp. for the most part, though, i think a majority of them would be starving lunatics. few humans are left so they'd probably go crazy over a decent meal. once their thirst is satisfied, though, i could see them having more control. that sounds fine.
so we've got the setting, a plot starter, and a bit of lore to run with. did you have anymore questions or did you want to post brief charrie descriptions? i normally just post a pic for ref. and a few bullets highlighting key attributes. nothing expansive 'cuase forms are just not my thing. xp did you have anymore questions, though, or things you'd like to discuss? also, did you want to rp on a public thread or by pming?

UPDATE: the mad max setting is still open!! i might be willing to duplicate the other two if any one's interested as well. if you've a setting you'd like to give a go that falls in the dystopian/apocalypse genre, feel feel to suggest them!! i've been thinking about a terminator inspired plot but i dunno.

To clarify on what I meant, I if was that in addition to stabbing with the stake it was smart to light them on fire as well in order to make sure they were really dead. I don't mind if we use that or not, but yeah I didn't mean they caught on fire when stabbed, sorry for the confusion! Yeah, I think once they get some blood in them they think more rationally and are fairly intelligent rather than just mindless monsters, but hunger drives them mad.
I think I'm good with questions and ready to jump into characters if you are! If something isn't working along the way we can always return to hashing out the plot line. I also prefer pics and some important traits, I'm not much of a fan for long forms. I also prefer to pm if that's ok! I can probably get my character up by tonight and if not tomorrow!

That sounds fine. Stabbing them through the heart could put them down but only for a short while. It'd make sense to burn the corpse to be sure.
Alright. I've a form kind of pre-made. It's nothing special, just bits and pieces from other things, and you don't need to follow the format if you don't want. I'll post it here and create the PM when I've got your form.
Character Name: Lewis Noskov Gender: male Age: 27 Job/Role: blue-collar worker, odd jobs and service work. Appearance: At an imposing 6'6", Lewis can be rather intimidating. He's not especially thin but well built and sturdy, very lean and agile looking. Though one might suspect him for a man of strength, he's no real talent for hand-to-hand. This might be peculiar coming from a previously employed security guard but, in all honesty, he never really put to use any real training. His stature coupled with a nightstick was usually enough to deter any aggressor from a scuffle with the man. Naturally, he's a habit of slouching, pushing his shoulders forward and making himself comfortable in even the most pressing of situations. He never stands too poised and ready and can often exhibit a rather bored posture. Instead, any alertness you might gain from the man is in his gaze as he's always observing. He's a combed wave of brown/blond hair and a pair of muted green eyes. The few notable features he possesses is a larger hooked nose, presumably broken a couple times, and a light complexion. On good days, he wears a nicer pair of slacks and a button down blouse but, casually, he's accustomed to worn flannels, simple Ts, and jeans. - Though well-mannered and kind, he's also unhinged and mildly sadistic. He's quaint with a dry sense of humor and awkward social skills.
- He's some incredibly low ambitions and choses to live his life day-by-day. he's stuck in the present without so much as a thought towards the future.
- He's a mild alcoholic and has resorted to seeking out coffee grounds or tea to subdue his addiction.
- Used to be a decent piano player when he was younger. He can't really play anything now, though, but a few basic tunes.
- He's third generation Russian, was born in the states and never spoke the language.

FC: Tom Webb Character Name: Noah Thomas Lynch Gender: male Age: 24 Job/Role: mechanic, EMT, student
Appearance: Noah is an interesting young man, despite being conventionally attractive, he stands out in a crowd and often seems out of place. His classmates had described him as aloof and otherworldly as he rarely had time for social life and even then he felt disconnected from the general population. He's tall, about 6'2, and lanky with lean muscles. His skin is slightly tanned with light freckles dotting the bridge of his nose and his arms. His cheekbones are high and his deeper set eyes a light hazel color with longer eyelashes. His face isn't usually easy to read and it can be difficult to decipher what he is thinking just by looking at his expression. His hair is a honey brown color and cut short. His wardrobe often consists of hand me downs or whatever is available at a thrift store, he dislikes standing out. Noah is partially deaf in his left ear due to an incident when he was younger.
Noah is an incredibly hard worker and he has been since he was a child since most of what has come to him in life has been through hard work and often overworking himself. Noah is pragmatic and intelligent, he often relies on realism rather than optimism. He is individualistic and distrusts others and their intentions, even once he is close and loyal to someone he has trouble breaking through his shell which causes him to feel unknowable. He is often serious, but he does have a dry sense of humor and sarcasm. Prone to jealousy and pride, he carries plenty of self doubt despite how far he has come in his life. Noah grew up in a trailer park in Georgia with his abusive father and disapproving mother, he stayed there during college to watch over his younger sister.
