Introduction:
I am Aspenstar. Welcome to ThunderClan- the clan of courage and loyalty. I was never the most agreeable apprentice, but the clan embraced my difficulties and once I had proven myself as a valuable warrior, they began to respect me. I have risen to become their leader and would lay down all nine of my lives for my clan, just as my clanmates would lay down their lives for me and each other. There is no other clan in the forest so true or so brave. I respect and admire the other clans, but my heart is here, with ThunderClan- the clan of heroes, the clan of compassion, the clan of destiny.
Rules:
i. Forum Rules
Follow them, please. Offending posts should be reported and ignored.
ii. Literacy
As a semi-literate roleplay, members will be expected to post more than one-liners. It is requested that everyone provides a minimum of two lines per post, with proper capitalization, spelling, punctuation, grammar—all of that good stuff. We aren't asking for perfection. Just try your best, and you'll get along just fine! You won't get the boot for making a few spelling mistakes here and there, but if you, for example, continuously fail to meet the two-line requirement even after warnings, you may get kicked.
iii. Activity
Most of us have other priorities, like work or school, but you are still expected to come on at least once a week. That means actually roleplaying, though—unfortunately, dropping in and saying hi every Tuesday doesn't count. After a one week absence, your characters will be frozen, and any cat interacting with them will be freed up. If you are offline for two weeks without any notice or proper excuse, you will be kicked, and your characters deleted. If you later wish to rejoin, you may, as long as you are more active.
iv. Realism
There is no such thing as a green and purple cat, and you will not be allowed to roleplay one, either. When creating characters, it would be highly appreciated if you applied some common sense. We'll be lenient, though. Cats that aren't white may have blue eyes, toms may be tortoiseshells, etc. Again, just don't go crazy with their appearance. As far as personalities go, we also aren't ridiculously strict. No totally perfect characters, no totally imperfect characters. Keep a balance, make them believable!
v. Harassment and Discrimination
Purposefully making someone feel bad will never be tolerated. Any comments left on the thread that make anyone feel uncomfortable or upset will be reported immediately, and in extreme cases, the offender will be kicked from the roleplay. We take these matters very seriously. But on the other hand, if someone bullies you off the thread, we can't do anything about it. We won't kick a member if they said something mean to you in the past. If that's the case, then please ignore them, and avoid bringing drama to the thread.
vi. Inclusion
Try to include everybody! It's a little annoying to join a roleplay, just to be completely left out, don't you think? So, if someone doesn't have anyone to roleplay with, at least try to include them in some way—even if that just means having a conversation! In addition to this, do not make your own cats become mates. Having them be ex-mates is okay, though.
vii. Power-playing
For those of you who don't know what power-playing is, it's essentially controlling another person's character without permission. For example: "[Your cat] smiled, and [Their cat] grinned back." That's uncool. Roleplay your own characters. The same goes for spotlighting and god-modding: it's no fun to roleplay when other people do these things.
viii. Plots & Prophecies
Think you have a good idea for a plot? Well, you should probably check in with us before you immediately gear it into action—especially if it's major! Send a private message, and if we like it, we'll likely put it into action. But beware, we do have the right to deny any ideas. Don't take it personally, though—just because we don't think the plot will suit the roleplay, it doesn't mean we hate you or your ideas! On the other hand, if things are progressing slowly in the roleplay, it's okay for a patrol to run into a fox or something.
ix. Balance
If you're making a male character, you must make at least one female, and vice versa. The only exception is when nonbinary kitties come into play: you can have one male and one nonbinary, two nonbinary, one female and one nonbinary, or, just the male and female. Without this rule in place, it's a guarantee that there would be at least three females for every one male or nonbinary. No joke. Keep a balance, guys. And keep a balance for the apprentice-to-warrior ratio, as well. We shouldn't have forty apprentices and ten warriors! That'd be chaos! Anyone making an apprentice should make a warrior as well.
x. Have Fun!
What else is this made for other than for fun? This isn't supposed to feel like homework or a chore. Please send a private message if you aren't enjoying yourself here, and we'll see if we can work something out so that you have more encouragement to come on. Or, if you feel that you'd rather quit, that's completely understandable and completely okay. Nobody will be mad...unless you don't tell us if you're leaving. That's a nuisance. Anyhow, thank you for reading through these rules, and we sincerely hope you have a great time!
About: Put something about how this is a five-clan roleplay with the other clans and such.
History: We NEED this!
Territory:
ThunderClan claims the southeastern part of the region, their territory consisting of deciduous woodland, named White Hart Woods by Twolegs. Their camp is in a sandy ravine that used to be a riverbed long time ago, surrounded by brambles. Listed below are the most common landmarks of this vast territory.
(1)ThunderClan Camp: Sheltered at the foot of a sandy ravine and well protected by thorn bushes, this camp is hard to attack and easy to defend.
(2)Tallpines: Watch out for the Twoleg Tree-eater! It makes the ground rumble and leaves deep gullies that fill with muddy water.
(3)Great Sycamore: Its branches are thick and strong all the way to the ends. Young apprentices learn to climb here and dare one another to climb higher.
(4)Owl-Tree: Halfway up the trunk is a hole that is home to a tawny owl that flies out at night. Legend has it that an early ThunderClan apprentice learned the secrets of night hunting from one such owl. Every night as the moon rose, he would wait at the foot of the Owl-Tree. When the owl swooped out, he followed like the owl’s shadow cast by the moon on the ground. Eventually this bold young apprentice became a great leader known as Owlstar. In the hunt, he was a silent and deadly as the tawny owl.
(5)Sunningrocks: A warm spot in the sunshine. Keep a sharp eye out for prey darting between the cracks! Many moons ago, when the river was much wider than it is now, Sunningrocks was an island. Only RiverClan cats could swim onto it. Then the water dropped, and Sunningrocks became part of the forest shore, so ThunderClan claimed it. They did not allow RiverClan cats to cross their territory to reach it. Since then, man battles have been fought between the two Clans over these smooth, sun-warmed stones.
(6)Snakerocks: Beware the poisonous adders! Chervil grows abundantly here. The caves beneath the rocks provide shelter for dangerous animals, like foxes, badgers - and even dogs.
(7)Sandy Hollow: A training hollow surrounded by trees. Warrior apprentices are unlikely to hurt themselves on the soft ground.
(8)Twolegplace: A maze of small Thunderpaths and Twoleg dens. There are two different kinds of cats in Twolegplace: loners and kittypets.
Camp:
Welcome to ThunderClan’s forest camp! I’m _____, a ThunderClan warrior. Aspenstar has asked me to show you around. Watch out, though. Some of the elders might be cranky if we disturb them while they’re having a nap. Can you see the camp entrance? Well hidden, isn’t it? Those brambles protect us from predators, but they don’t stop the sunshine from warming up the camp. Follow me down the ravine. Aspenstar says it used to be a river a long time ago, but I can’t imagine that. It’s so dry and sandy now. Keep your head down—we’re going through this tunnel in the gorse. See the path under your paws? Hundreds of ThunderClan cats have been this way over many generations. Watch out for the prickles! And here we are! No, ____paw, this is my guest. They didn’t sneak up behind me. Yes, I know you’re standing guard. I’m sure the whole camp knows we’re here now. Over this way is the nursery. See the thick bramble walls? The nursery is the strongest part of the Clan camp. Can you hear the kits mewing and playing inside? Queens and warriors will fight like TigerClan to protect them. Notice the clump of ferns beside the tree stump? That’s where the apprentices sleep. It’s supposed to be lined with moss, but it looks like a certain apprentice has kicked up a bit of a mess. After guard duty, I promise you she/he/they will be cleaning it up. Poor ___paw! She/he/they has always been such a restless sleeper. Warriors sleep under that bush—you can see the entrance tunnel there. As a senior warrior, I sleep in the center of the group, where it’s warmest. I remember being a young warrior, though. It can get cold on the edge during leaf-bare! This fallen tree is the elders’ den. Go ahead, poke your nose inside. Oh, sorry, ____! I’m giving a tour. No, they are not spying for ShadowClan! Don’t you have an apprentice to torment, ____? Quickly, while She/He/They’re gone, put your paws on the den floor. Don’t the grass and moss feel soft? The apprentices keep it fresh. Nobody wants grumpy elders . . . well, no grumpier than usual. Let’s cross the clearing to that tall, smooth boulder over there. This is Highrock, and it’s where our leader stands to make announcements to the whole Clan and to lead ceremonies. Can you picture it? You’d listen, wouldn’t you? Around here is ___star’s den. Hello? ____star? He/she/they must be out on patrol. Peek through the lichen hanging over the entrance. This is where he/she/they sleeps. Before him/her/them it was ____star, and after him/her/them, who knows? Before you go, let me show you the medicine cat’s den. Come inside. I love the smell of the herbs. ____paw —She/He/They’re in training to be a medicine cat, and She/He/They’re very clever. She/He/They sleeps at this end of the fern tunnel. Her/Him/Their mentor, Cinderpelt, sleeps in that hole in the rock over there. ____paw! There you are. Always sorting herbs! She/He/They’re so dedicated and hard-working. What’s that? You think ___paw would rather be hunting than on guard duty? All right, I’ll have a word with Aspenstar and see if she/he/they can come to the Gathering tonight—that should cheer her/him/them up. And that’s our camp! I should really be off hunting now. Watch your fur on the way out. And don’t tell anyone you were here!
