Dingoleap - coal is my son tbh. i'm so glad he gets such a warm reception from the wff. and those scenes were so fun to write!! i'm glad they're right up there at the top (and i'm sorry about thrushpaw. kinda. oops.) Β» ΡΠ½Ξ±dΟΟ βοΈ & dingo - quizzing sounds like a delight, tbh, and pming could actually work really well because i think it does support multi-person pms. and maybe (just snowballing here i don't know how appealing this sounds to you) we could do away with a little of the planning? because that's what we got hung up on. i think we do need to have the groundwork (which i still have saved in a google doc!), but it might even be...fun? to turn each other loose after the initial material with our respective chapters. to surprise each other with plot twists and stuff, take the story in a new direction. it would feel like rping, a little, not having total knowledge of what's going to done next, but that element of surprise could actually be really fun and engaging, if you guys are cool with it. and obviously, we'd edit chapters for character consistency and stuff, but in terms of plot line, we could probably have a lot of flexibility and freedom with it if we surprised each other sometimes, haha. basically what i'm saying is (all hypothetical here) say i write ch 1, and dingo's up to bat for ch 2 and tosses in a sweet plot twist that takes the story in a new direction. then it's shadow's turn and whoa also new plot point. and we have to play off one another's plot points and tie them together. we can't make too many, but that air of unpredictability could give this some real energy!

Coal is such a good, smol cat who deserves happiness. They are awesome scenes, and I can forgive you for Thrushpaw, but only because she is safe and happy in StarClan and probably visits all her clan mates in their dreams to encourage them.
Planning-wise, I actually do most of my writing in the looser style you described. I generally just have an outline for the plot to follow, but let the chapters fill up as I go along. It's pretty easy to flow. The idea of spontaneous plot twists sounds really quite fun! If we have some general 'guidelines' to keep the twists from getting too outrageous I think it could work quite nicely. Imagine that - writing a multi-part story so complex and complete that not even the authors know the full story until the end. It would be awesome. I had an idea once to write a story where you play as the hero, and throughout it you are forced to make harder and harder decisions, and as a result the story gets darker and darker until you realise that you were playing the villain all along, and I've been trying to work out how to do it for a long time, but never quite got there. I though I'd just throw it out there cause it seems like that sort of thing could be accomplished with what you've suggested.
That sounds like a really good idea, Tues! I'm all for it!

yknow, i don't even know about the visiting from starclan bit. i mean, they clearly believe, but i wrote htmf with starclan's absence as a direct force in mind. the belief is there without the influence. though, ch x has the omen, which is stunningly accurate... count the number of birds that die. then count the number of deaths that follow.
"writing a multipart story so complex and complete that not even the authors know the full story until the end" dingo, sweet child, that's my writing process all the time. i love hearing "i can't wait to read what happens next!" because buddy, pal, friendo, i don't have a clue what's next either haha.
ooooooh, that's a fun idea to play with because of the moral implications, but it's very tough to do with any sort of subtlety.
and thanks! hopefully shadow likes it. c: if not, we can sort something out.

Now that you've pointed that out, I never actually noticed the absence of StarClan. I think its just because they're such a prominent feature in most Warriors fics, but that's actually really interesting. Thrushpaw the friendly ghost, then?
Ahahahaha, I have never read anything so accurate in my entire life. It seems that Shadow is the only one who has it together XD Most of the time I plan the beginning and the end, and let it go from there. Half the time I have no idea how to get from point A to point B, but it does lead to some very interesting plot twists.
Yeah, it's been bouncing around for a while. I think it would probably work best as a 'choose your own adventure' sort of story, but I don't really want to write one of those. Maybe one day. But morality is a very fun subject to manipulate.
Hopefully she comes online again soon.

i love a good fantasy paranormal story, but this felt like a story that needed to be told on the characters' terms. their survival rests in their hands and the hands of the world around them, not with a mystical higher power. and perhaps. you've given me a bad idea and i love it.
her planning skills are out of this world, tbh. and yeah, same. i usually know where to start and sorta where to end but that's it.
oooh, it would do well as a cyoa! consider that; you could write a good one (maybe i'll write one one day for kicks, a short one)
hopefully! she does have busy college stuff, too, though, which is fine.

Anything that toes the line of paranormal is awesome. Psychological thrillers are my favourite. HTFM really works. It's good. Aw yes. Bad ideas ftw.
I know. I was chatting to her once and she mentioned that she had whole notebooks just dedicated to Curse. I salute your organisation, Shadow. The best I can do is just consolidate all the sketches floating around on loose pieces of paper into one sketchbook! Most of my ideas are still recorded on my phone XD
Maybe! I'll have to wait until I'm done with my current projects, though.
I'm sure we'll see her tomorrow either way. I have no exams tomorrow, so I'm home all day.

It definitely does. The fight scene is my all time favourite. I love reading about Greystar in action.
PHONE NOTES ARE FANTASTIC. And the latest update allows me to create folders, to group notes by category. Its glorious. I like google drive too. We use Classroom a lot at school now, its its so nice. All the notes in one place to be accessed anywhere. Its like a mini forum for your class!
Nice, nice. I really need to finish Voltron, omg. I got partway through season 2 then got distracted by Bates Motel. Unfortunately, I have to wait to holidays to watch Netflix, although I might watch some tomorrow...
Thanks! I've got two exam free days, but double exams on Friday. Both the exams that I'm most worried for are on one day. Great. Ugh, that sucks. at least its a public holiday soon - Shadz mentioned it's good Friday for you guys soon.

i think we're thinking of different fight scenes, because i'm talking about stone's split second decision to fight a fox, bless her impulsive heart. but greystar in action is a thing to be feared.
oooh, categories are a godsend. nice nice! and hey, that's really handy to have all the notes accessible like that. teachers who put those resources online are the best.
DO IT I STILL HAVE A SPOILERY POST I WANT TO SHOW YOU BUT YOU HAVE TO FINISH S2 FIRST (and i'll be writing for the klance big bang project, so if you want a link to that when it's out in september, let me know, hey hey hey...)
oh, ew, that's rough. do your best to go in relaxed, though, and try to get a good night's sleep! i believe in you.
uh, yeah, it is, but my school doesn't take good friday off. :/ probably because i go to a private college and not a public one. alas.

Whoops, yeah ^-^' But the fox fight is equally as epic.
I was very excited when I found out. I love folders. The notes on my laptop are all folders within folders. Teachers like that are fantastic. My extension English teacher uploads literally everything we do, and it is fantastic. So many resources that can be accessed anywhere.
OK, I WILL DO IT FOR THE SPOILER POST! I'll try to finish it up tomorrow or the day after, if I can't binge it in one day. And of course I want that link when the time comes. There can never be enough Klance.
Yeah, it is. but thank you. That really means a lot <3
Ugh, thats frustrating. Do you get Easter off?

I am here! I like everything you guys said. And I think the "role-playing" approach will work great. I did a lot of rping back in the day, so it's not too much of a stretch for me. x'D Psssh, stop it guys. Even though I might have the plot all figured out, I still sometimes change things up drastically. Like Dingo said, I "fill up" my chapters and just follow a basic skeleton. But yeah, I got a lot of stuff written down...everywhere. You guys should see my collection of sticky notes. o3o'

That is an interesting take. For me, the fact that StarClan shows itself to be a real entity, I find that intriguing, more so than a belief system built on just blind faith, and vague signs. But in the end, if your characters evoke that kind of reaction and can't wait to read the next installment, you have done a great job!

Ooh, you totally should! And I know, next year I'm taking a super hard history course that apparently has up to 4 hours of outlining per class??? Like, why the heck do we need to outline that much? And also I'm taking Calculus so ugh, that will be hard, plus Chemistry and other hard classes. Wish me luck... The good thing is Spring Break starting on Friday! yeah, I know! I do not understand that, especially since a lot of people play sports and have a life other than just school. And I've been told that being a perfectionist is bad and you can spend like 7 hours doing outlines. Unfortunately, you guessed it, I am a perfectionist. Oh joy. And alright, thanks for the offer! Oof, yeah that sounds good. I may need that, especially if I do soccer next year. Yeah, soccer is really fun but it's pretty intense at my school, since we have a good team.
Haha, I've actually had this idea for a really long time, though nothing has really come out of it. I started some planning but I'm not sure how traditional I want it to be since it's in the fantasy genre. Like, I don't want to have my world be too cliche, but also creating a new world is tough... And also my struggle is whether to write it with cats or with humans. I'm super torn, but it plays a big role in my world building and stuff...

crescent - hey, that's exciting, though! my high school didn't have a team so i had to play at a rec league... i really wish i'd had a chance to be part of organized play.
ah, the fic vs original dilemma. i understand. and worldbuilding can get tough! i recommend looking at one thing you really want to include and start developing that first. for instance, i usually start by outlining the magic systems i use in my original fantasy stuff. how they work, their boundaries, who can use magic, etc. after that, i can start slotting other things into place. and don't be afraid of placeholders if you're not sure yet what to do with something!
phantom - [nod nod] and two decades? omg that's a long time, but it sounds like it panned out, given that you say first!
