The following morning, Julian accepted he wouldn't be able to get any more sleep and he got out of bed. He pulled a new sweater over himself and headed out to the living room, opening the door and walking out. He headed over to the kitchen, looking in the fridge for anything he could make. Eggs... It might be a little more effort than he really wanted to do, but it would be worth it. He looked toward the cat dish as he took the eggs out of the fridge. The food looked untouched... He picked up the water bowl and dumped it in the sink. Once he set the eggs on the counter, he rinsed the water dish and refilled it, setting it back down.

The cat followed the human out of the room. He saw him look at the food dish, which reminded him out how hungry he was, but he really didn't want to eat the dry pellets. Still, he would need something to hold him over until he could hunt again. He cast a longing glance at the fish tank before he padded over and crouched by the food dish. He managed to stomach a few bites before he gave up, turning to the water dish and to wash out the taste. The water tasted funny as well, but the cat forced himself to drink anyway, though he wrinkled his nose in disgust. When he was finished, he padded back to the living room and jumped up on the couch, where he began grooming himself.

Julian heard the cat nibbling on the kibble as he set up a frying pan for the eggs. He looked over at the food bowl when the sound stopped, but he was surprised to see only a few bites were missing. He couldn't say that someone could convince him to eat the dry pellets either, but he wasn't sure what else he could give the cat. He looked back at the pan a moment. Could cats have eggs? He had no idea. He picked his phone up (he must have fallen asleep with it off in his pocket) and he turned it back on. Immediately messages flooded in from the night before, all about the cat. He muted the phone and googled the question. Well, it wouldn't kill the cat. But it wasn't recommended. Maybe he'd have to buy wet food later. For now, he'd wait for some of his own breakfast to cool and add it to the bowl when it was an acceptable temperature.
He set a piece of bread in the toaster to cook and he turned on the pan, letting two eggs fry before scrambling them with the spatula. He separated a little bit aside for the cat, and put his food onto a plate. Once everything was done and ready, he picked up a glass from the cupboard and filled it with water. He went over to the coffee table, sitting down next to it and beginning to eat quietly.

The scent of the food wafted through the house, attracting the cat's attention, and his belly rumbled again. It smelled good, but he knew it would probably be better in his human form- it was meant for humans, after all. How disappointing. One of the few perks of having a human shape was those few times when he was able to snag some human food, whether by stealing it off of a table or out of a window, or those couple times he had found some human money and been able to salvage some clothes, so that he could buy food. As much as he enjoyed fresh prey and the way it filled his belly, most human food tasted better. But not in his cat form- his sense of taste was muted then, compared to when he was human. He climbed up on the back of the couch, watching as some of eggs were dumped into his bowl, which surprised him. Still, he wouldn't complain- it may not be as good in this shape, but it should still be better than the pellets. He quickly hopped down from the couch and bounded over, sniffing at the eggs before wolfing them down.

Well, at least he was eating... "We'll get you something better than kibble soon." He promised the cat, barely speaking loudly enough to be heard from where he was seated. He continued eating quietly until he'd emptied his plate. He took his dishes to the sink and ran them under warm water for a moment. He turned off the faucet and went over to the fish tank, dropping little portions of food into all corners of the tank. The fish all gathered up high and darted around to get their share of food. Julian closed the lid and watched them for a little bit. He headed back into the kitchen to start actually washing the dishes.

The cat swiveled his ears towards the human when he spoke, but he otherwise didn't acknowledge him as he finished gobbling down the eggs. With any luck, he wouldn't be around long enough to bother with whatever kind of "better" cat food the human had in mind. Once he finished eating, the cat went back to the living room and jumped up on the couch again, settling on the back like he had the night before.
(lol it's almost dawn here and I've been up all night rping and watching SuperCarlinBrothers, rip me. So this will be my last post for the night sorry. I'll be back later today/"tomorrow".)

(hahahah i just ended up rping all night. its 6:30am here XD See you in the 'morning')
Julian watched the cat from the sink. He seemed to like that particular spot on the couch. A weak smile formed on his face, the first one in some time. True he hadn't even had the cat a whole twenty-four hours yet, and he already liked this. Once the dishes were cleaned, he used the camera on his phone to zoom in on the cat and snap a picture. He sent it out to the others before answering their questions from the night before to the best of his ability. There were a lot of requests to come over and see him, but Julian declined. He wanted the cat to be used to the apartment before anyone came over to interact with him.

(lol poor Julian he's in for such a surprise. But anyways you wanna kinda fast-forward a bit maybe? Just because really the rest of the day is probably just gonna be him doing some generic cat stuff and I don't really see a reason to go into detail about everything that he does in that regard, since it would get a bit repetitive. But yeah we could just sort of... summarize their actions until the next, eh, change of state. Whether Julian goes to work today or whatever, or just the next night, or whatever your plan is.)
"Snowball" rested his head on his paws, his tail flicking back and forth as he watched the fish swim around tantalizingly in their tank. He wasn't even the biggest fan of fish, but after having to eat pellet food for nearly five days now, they seemed like the most appealing thing in the world. He wondered what the human was saving them for.

(Alright. Considering Julian's work is done from home, he wouldn't actually have to leave the cat alone. I'll cut to... something lemme think.)
Julian continued about the rest of his day like normal. He spend several hours on his laptop working through a page of code, sending what he had so far to the programers, their results and what needed adjustment. He made sure to sit himself and his work close enough that he could keep an eye on the cat and not have to worry about him finding trouble. He ended up working through lunch and forgetting to eat, and whenever he felt nervous, he set the laptop aside and looked over at the cat for a bit. The grace in the creature's movement was soothing, and whenever he was near enough, he'd lightly pet the cat's back before going back to work.
Finally, he set down the laptop and closed it. He was done for now. He got up and went over tot he kitchen to make dinner - another plate of eggs, but with a serving of rice and peas. Again, he left a little egg for the cat since he still didn't seem to be eating the pellets. He ate quietly, cleaned his dishes, and started setting up to clean the fish tank. He remembered to move the cat to the bathroom (with the litter box, a few toys and his water bowl) and thirty minutes later, he was putting the lid back on the tank and putting away his cleaning materials. He went back to the bathroom and freed the cat. Still needed a name. He wasn't calling it Snowball.
He'd probably head to bed in an hour or two. At the moment, he wanted to spend a little more time with the cat. Since he'd spent so long working, it felt like he'd ignored the cat for most of the day. He removed the toys and water bowl (the cat box was probably best off in the bathroom) and he returned them to their proper place before picking up one of the jingle-ball toys and rolling it across the floor to see the cat's reaction.

(sorry for the delay, I've been planning some LARP stuff with my friend. She's coming to game for the first time next weekend and so we're working out some backstory stuff ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) )
The cat spent the day dozing or wandering around the house, investigating things more closely than he had the night before. He had hoped the human would leave the house for a little while at some point so that he could take the chance to escape, but there was so much luck. He was pleased when he received more eggs with dinner, scarfing them down as he had that morning. When the human went for the fish take, the cat got excited, hoping it was finally time for them to be eaten, but then he was put in the bathroom. He spent the next little while there, pacing and meowing at the door, but the human didn't let him back out and so before long he gave up. Bored, he ended up playing with some of the toys, though he found that hunting the fake mouse was not near as exciting as a live one.
He was ecstatic to be let free a while later. When the door to the bathroom was opened, he ran out excitedly, doing a circle around the living room and then hopping up on the couch, where he shook out his fur and stretched. He watched as the human moved the toys and other objects to their previous place, and then when the ball was rolled across the floor. He flicked his ears, mentally chastising the human for treating him like a kitten, but the movement and noise of the toy drew his attention regardless. It had been too long since he hunted. Despite himself, he instinctively dropped into a hunting crouch, creeping along the back of the couch with his eyes fixed on the moving ball, before he jumped down and landed squarely on it, nipping at it as if he were killing prey.

nice~)
Julian smiled again, glad to see the cat was responding. He walked over next to it and sat down, petting it along its head. "Thanks, kitty." He said quietly, glad he'd chosen to bring this cat home. It was nice to have company, and even if he didn't like animals much, it turned out to be easier to hang around the cat than it was to be near most people. Well... he'd better let his friend know they were right. He took up his phone and messaged them. The response came a few seconds later asking for more pictures of the cat. He sighed and snapped a quick photo before putting his phone away and going back to petting the cat.

The cat nipped at the ball for a moment, batting it between his paws, but he stopped when the human came over and began to pet him again. He was conflicted for a moment on whether to let the human pet him again, but when he patted his head it felt nice, and so the cat gave in. He crouched down on the floor, a purr automatically welling in his throat. Well, he had found one thing he would miss when he left.

Julian continued petting the cat a few moments, scratching under its chin and poking at its little toe beans, though he didn't do this more than once since he'd seen cats get annoyed with that pretty quickly. He was still smiling, though, glad about the cat's presence. He'd still have to find a better name, and some better food... it couldn't keep eating people food.

(lol except he can and probably will)
The cat tolerated this for while longer before he finally got bored, getting to his paws and walking away. He went to the food dish and sniffed at the pellets, but he wasn't desperate enough to eat them, so he just lapped some water instead. He looked up at the window, noting that it was now completely dark. An entire day had passed already. Damn, I forgot to be an annoyance, he thought irritably at himself. He had lounged around for the first part of the day, laying in the sun by the window or enjoying the comfort of the couch. Then, he had been locked in the bathroom. And then it was now.
(lol I legit just forgot he was supposed to be a nuisance the whole day oops)

(XD hehehe)
Julian checked the time briefly and sighed a bit. He wasn't quite tired yet, but if he wanted to keep a sleep schedule, he'd have to head to bed soon. He looked back at the cat, considering this. He didn't want to trap the cat in the crate again. He'd even said out loud that tonight would be different. Still, he couldn't let it run loose in the house when it had already tried to get into the fish tank.
He stood up and lifted the cat, walking to the bedroom again. He set it down on the bed, going back to double check that the front door was locked. He went back in and closed the bedroom door behind him. He sat on the end of the bed quietly. He still had a little bit until he needed to sleep, but he might as well spend them winding down and relaxing.

The cat let the human pick him up, but when he realized where they were going he began to struggle. He didn't want to go in the carrier again. He was surprised when he was set down on the bed instead. Would the human not put him in the crate tonight? Perhaps he would have a chance to slip out when he was asleep. He would be far closer than he would have liked to be to change shapes, risking that the human would wake up and see him. But there was still a chance he could succeed. He watched as the human sat at the edge of the bed, wondering whether he would be settling down to sleep soon.

Julian pulled the blankets up and sat quietly, using his phone to look up cat foods for picky kitties. He wasn't finding much so far. Again, his gaze turned to the cat at the end of his bed. He slid one hand under the cover and scratched the sheet to try to get the cat's attention.

Julian gave another small smile before scratching the cat behind the ears. Again, he gave another small smile. He was about to reach to pick up the cat when he heard the sharp squeal of tires braking outside. He startled badly and sat up straight, his face very pale. His hands caught the sheets at either side of himself and he sat quietly, staring blankly toward the window. After a moment, he released the breath he'd been holding and leaned back against the headboard, unable to keep his exhaustion and worry from showing on his face.

The sudden movement caught the cat by surprise and he automatically tensed and crouched, pelt beginning to bristle as he dug his claws into the sheets. He stared at the human with wide eyes for a moment, but realized quickly he was not moving to attack as instinct suggested. In fact, he looked scared. The cat wasn't sure why, and so he looked around the room, ears pricked, trying to figure out what he was scared of. After all, he knew this place better, and so if he was scared, should the cat be as well? But nothing seemed out of the ordinary, and so the cat came to the conclusion that he had been startled by the noise outside, which the cat hadn't taken to be threatening. Perhaps he was wrong in that assumption. Or, perhaps this human was just especially nervous. He wasn't sure.

Julian looked at the cat and his expression creased in apology. He'd scared the cat... He was going to give his anxiety cat anxiety... Oh jeez...
"Sorry, kitty." He mumbled, holding his hand out for the cat to sniff. He didn't want it to think he was dangerous, but he couldn't exactly calm himself enough to keep his hand from shaking.

The cat forced himself to relax as the human extended his hand, appearing to try and calm himself. It appeared that the latter guess was correct. A part of the cat was annoyed at the needless scare, but as he noticed that he human's hand was shaking, he couldn't help but feel a flash of sympathy. Perhaps this is why he had sought the companionship of a pet? The cat knew all too well how it felt to be both alone and scared. One or the other was manageable but... well, he could relate was all. In that moment of sympathy, he made a flash decision, an unusual one of kindness from the otherwise selfish creature. He forced a purr, and padded over to the human, rubbing against him in the hope of offering some kind of comfort. He wasn't really sure what would help to calm a human, but a soothing voice and the touch of fur would help to sooth a frightened kitten and that was all he knew to go off of.

Julian gave a small sigh and he pet the cat quietly. After a moment, he mumbled a quiet 'thanks, kitty'. He appreciated the cat's understanding, and truthfully he wanted to hold it, but that seemed like a lot to ask of the animal. Still, it was nice that his new pet was empathetic.

(yeah same, that's why I poofed for so long. And now I gotta head to bed sorry.)
The cat paced back and forth for a moment longer, rubbing against the human's arm and side. He truly felt sympathy for him, and legitimately wanted to help calm him, but his motive was also somewhat selfish: the sooner the human feel asleep, the sooner the cat could make his escape. After a moment, he curled up next to him, still purring, but he stayed somewhat alert with his head raised and ears perked, alert for anything else that might spook the nervous human. After a minute, though, he rested his head on his paws, satisfied that the human had calmed. He figured he could afford to doze a bit, at least until the human was well asleep, just so long as he didn't fall completely unconscious. After all, he would need his energy to get far away from here before the human came after him. A part of him felt almost guilty at the thought of abandoning the human after this, but he reasoned that there were plenty of real cats out there for him to choose from, who could probably do a better job of being the companion he needed anyhow. He closed his eyes, enjoying the warmth from the human's body heat as he drifted half to sleep.
("I can totally afford to take a short nap before I make my escape")

(Pfft)
Julian adjusted himself so that he was lying down next to the cat and he closed his eyes quietly. He still kept one hand on the cat's back, though without enough weight to keep it there. He slowly fell asleep as the night progressed, but he remained a bit animated. At some points he rolled over, and then back, and other times he seemed to push himself deeper into the pillows.

(heheheh. This is where things should get more interesting.)
The cat waited for a while, sleeping on and off, but the human never really seemed to be as deeply asleep as he would have liked to make his escape. The night wore on, and eventually, the bakeneko ended up falling entirely asleep, if for no other reason than the sheer boredom of simply waiting out the night. At some time in the early morning, the cat rolled over, but unfortunately his body was much larger than he subconsciously expected and he rolled right off the bed, landing on the floor with a solid thump. He woke up, startled, and made to extend his claws in a readiness to fight, but he found that they weren't there. He was still groggy, so it took him a moment of near-panic to realize what had happened. Looking down at his arms, he saw white skin instead of white fur, with claw-less human hands rather than delicate paws. Dammit, it had happened again.
(So now for the human description.
The bakeneko's human form is that of a male who appears to be in his early twenties or late teens, though he has one of those faces where the age is difficult to pinpoint. While his cat form is very large, the same cannot be said for his human form: he is rather petite, standing at about 5'7" and with a small frame. He has a rather delicate appearance, just like his cat form, with thin features and large almond-shaped eyes in the same colors: the left is pale blue, and the right is pale green, both quite unnatural for humans. Also unnatural is the paleness of his skin and hair, the latter of which is snow white like his fur, and the former of which is very close to snow white, with just a slight tinge of color. His hair is long and tangled, looking like it's probably never been brushed, and comes down to a bit past his collar bone (though if it were actually cared for, it would likely be a bit longer). His teeth are sharper than a normal humans', especially his canines, and this along with his paleness almost makes him look more like a stereotypical vampire. His ears are a bit pointed, and his right ear has a distinct notch in it that carries over from his cat form. A small scar extends nearly from the bridge of the left side of his nose, to about halfway under his left eye.
I was debating going full neko but I decided against it because I wanted him to be at least CAPABLE of passing for a regular human, even if he does look really strange lol. Also I looked back on the cat description for reference and I realized I put that his left eye was "pale, clear blue, light a morning sky or blue eyes," and I don't know why I was having so much difficulty with this sentence in particular but that's supposed to be "like a morning sky or blue ice." Idk what happened. Like, I didn't just misspell the words, I put completely different ones. But yeah, that's fixed now lol.)

Julian heard the thump and he shifted quietly, opening his eyes. He sat up and looked around. Had the cat knocked a lamp over? ...did he own a lamp? The fish tank maybe? He gave a small sigh and he moved over to the side of the bed. He stepped over the side of the bed, but something soft underfoot startled him and he retracted his foot quickly. He looked down and froze in place seeing a stranger in his home. He hadn't heard any doors open. No windows broke... How'd he get here? Why was he here? Unfortunately, he couldn't find his voice to ask any of these questions.

Had the bakeneko fully woken up quickly enough to realize what had happened in time, he may have been able to salvage the situation by returning to his cat form before the human woke up and saw him. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and he let out a surprised hiss as the human tried to step off the bed and kicked him in the back, looking up to meet the gaze of the extremely startled-looking man. This was exactly what the bakeneko had wanted to avoid, though he hadn't imagined this exact situation would occur. It wasn't the first time he had changed in front of humans, but the results were generally not pleasant. Realizing the situation, the bakeneko rolled away, pressing against the far wall to put some distance between himself and the human in case he decided to attack. "Um, hi," was all the bakeneko could think to say.
(sorry for the delay, my boyfriend showed up for a little while but he just left. Poor Julian though, he's gonna have like a full on panic attack or something lol. And the bakeneko is just not gonna know how to deal with that)

(it's all good)
Admittedly, if he hadn't stepped on him to begin with, Julian might have thought there was a ghost in his house. But no, the intruder was very physical and real, and he had no idea how to deal with he. He definitely put distance between them, but sort of out of nervousness and caution, Julian backed up quickly, scooting back off the other side of the bed and backing up further. He watched the stranger, still shocked. At his quiet greeting, Julian hesitantly nodded a bit and gave a small wave of his hand, but he still couldn't find the words to reply.
