So really I just desperately want to see this plot actually played out because it's been picked from my plots lists so many times but I've never actually gotten to play with it very much. And also idk I just feel like being cat guy right now because reasons. This isn't really intended to be a romance rp but I guess romance can happen. I really prefer mxm in that case but I may be able to bring myself to do some mxf if the cards fall right. Not that I have a problem with rping mxf, this character is just usually gay. But anyways, here's the general idea:
Your character is a regular human. Somehow, you come into contact with what appears to be a regular cat. How they meet is different depending on who I've played with, but usually I go with the usual "the cat is injured and the human helps them." The other way it's been done is that it's raining or something and so they let the cat inside out of pity, feed them, and fall asleep with the fluffy kitty curled up next to them. Or, maybe he ends up at the animal shelter somehow and can't escape because there's not enough room in his cage to change, and there are security cameras and stuff, and then your person picks him up. Whatever way, as it turns out, the cat is not actually a regular cat but a bakeneko, a cat who can take the shape of a human. The latter path is particularly funny when the human wakes up to find a random cat dude in their bed (because sometimes he accidentally changes shape in his sleep). Ensue whatever sort of funny bs happens when your pet cat turns out to be a person. If it goes on long enough, maybe some real plot will kick in, but probably not. If you have any better ideas for how they meet, feel free to suggest it.
So, anyone interested? Also this doesn't have to be STRICTLY a 1x1, other people are welcome to pop in for side characters and such, but it would MAINLY be 1x1.

Not at all! What method of the two meeting would you prefer? Also, you can post a description or whatever of your character if you like but you don't need to. I can make one of mine as well, if you want.

If you're able to describe a character in rp, you don't have to, though I think I'll set up a sheet for my character for convenience's sake. Would you prefer to rp over thread or PM? I'm good with either?

Either works for me as well, I have no preference at all lol.

X3 that leaves the stalemate of two people with no preference. I suppose thread would be best if you wish to allow other people in as side characters.

Yeah, possibly. Not for now, but I was thinking there's always the chance of having another bakeneko show up later. I always find the idea of bakenekos literally cat-fighting with each other amusing. But yeah, that's the worst stalemate. Like, two people who oppose each other is easier bc they can compromise but when two people are completely neutral then there's not much you can do lol. But yeah, I suppose a thread would work for that, even though it would likely be a bit before anyone else would really become involved.
So with that figured out, which method of them meeting do you find most appealing? Personally I'm kind of amused by the last one with the animal shelter, because I'm just thinking "Yeah make sure to get him fixed" and then later like "don't you dare." But really any of them could be interesting.

PFFFFFFFFFFF 'fix your pets' 'don't fix your pets' I gotta say I agree with that one. It also sort of helps with the set up in that the person actually wants to keep a cat and doesn't just wind up with a cat)

Lol yeah. I feel like he gets put in the animal shelter and he's just this big ol fluffy white cat that's super sweet and purrs a lot and stuff but really he's a jerk, he's just like "I gotta be super adorable so I can get adopted and get the HECK outa here"
I'm thinking maybe it takes a couple days for them to actually figure out he's a bakeneko and there's some reason he can't just, like, turn human, open the door, and leave before that. So during that couple days after getting taken home he just does everything he can to try to get them to toss him out or something, like knocking over glasses and just doing stereotypical jerk cat stuff lol.

(hehehehehheheheheheheh I might establish now that my character has a few fish at home already, but the lid would be set up so only a human could actually get into it. Resulting in "Leave the tank alone." "I'm feeding them" "No you're not, close it." without turning around sort of deal. anyway, i'll go ahead and set up a paragraph or two for my character.)

Alright. I can do the same for mine. Though for now I'll just do his cat description ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I'm trying to think of a reason he wouldn't be able to just leave. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Maybe he gets put in a carrier at when the person is away/asleep for the first few days or something? Like to make sure he doesn't cause trouble when they're not around or something? Idk.

Yeah. He probably also tries to make a break for it every time the door opens lol. My cat does that irl. Idk why she wants to get out so bad though, she like runs out, steps off the porch, and just stops.

Julian Kepler - Julian is a young man of about twenty-two years, standing just under six foot. He's half-Korean, on his mother side, and he inherited her dark hair and brown eyes from her. He wears his hair a bit longer than most, just enough that it passes his jawline and he's able to pull it back when he needs to. He tends to put very little value into appearances and he usually ends up wearing plain-colored sweaters that look like its time to pass them off to a second-hand store. Despite his lack of self-representation, he tends to be very peculiar about the cleanliness of his house. Because he lives by himself, he tends to be very quiet and a little out of sorts when it comes to socializing with new people.
It's a little short, but it'll do for now, I hope.

This cat is a large Norwegian forest cat, with long, thick snow-white fur covering a slender but sturdy body. His slender legs are tipped with paws that are surprisingly delicate for such a large cat, but the soft paws and pink pads hide his unusually long and wicked claws. His fur is particularly long around his neck and cheeks, forming a kind of mane, and on his unusually long tail, which is incredibly bushy. His facial features are rather delicate as well, with a small muzzle, pink nose, and large, slanting eyes of two different colors. His left eye is a pale, clear blue, like a morning sky or blue ice. The right is pale green, like shoots of new grass. He has very small tufts on the tips of his ears, which are very triangular and have a few tears and notches in them. He also has a small scar on the left side of his muzzle, under the corner of his left eye.
Here's mine. I'll do a human description later, when it becomes more relevant. So, you wanna start, or should I?
The bakeneko's human form is that of a male who appears to be in his early twenties or late teens, though he has one of those faces where the age is difficult to pinpoint. While his cat form is very large, the same cannot be said for his human form: he is rather petite, standing at about 5'7" and with a small frame. He has a rather delicate appearance, just like his cat form, with thin features and large almond-shaped eyes in the same colors: the left is pale blue, and the right is pale green, both quite unnatural for humans. Also unnatural is the paleness of his skin and hair, the latter of which is snow white like his fur, and the former of which is very close to snow white, with just a slight tinge of color. His hair is long and tangled, looking like it's probably never been brushed, and comes down to a bit past his collar bone (though if it were actually cared for, it would likely be a bit longer). His teeth are sharper than a normal humans', especially his canines, and this along with his paleness almost makes him look more like a stereotypical vampire. His ears are a bit pointed, and his right ear has a distinct notch in it that carries over from his cat form. A small scar extends nearly from the bridge of the left side of his nose, to about halfway under his left eye.

(Okie dokie)
The kennel room was crowded that day, with at least three or four humans looking at the different cats, as well as the cats themselves, and the noise was really getting to the bakeneko. He was used to the solitude of the forest, the quiet of the rustling leaves and singing birds. Perhaps, the occasional car if he felt adventurous and came close to civilization. Well, he wouldn't be doing that again, not after this mess. Four days ago, he had been snooping around in some suburban neighborhood nearby, and had ended up trapped in one of those no-kill traps. Well, that was the last time he would go out of his way to investigate free chicken.
The large white cat paced in his wire cage, glaring at the tortoiseshell in the cage next to him. Predictably, she didn't understand his annoyance, and so he lashed his tail and turned his back to her, trudging the two feet to the other side of his cage before turning again and repeating the process. After being brought to the shelter, he had been "under observation" for a few days, and today was his first day up for adoption. The shelter had nicknamed him "Snowball," and they estimated he was two years old, which he couldn't help but scoff at. Several humans had already taken an interest in him today, poking their fingers through the mesh despite being told repeatedly by staff not to, opening the door to pet him, taking him out to play with him. Each time he had purred and played and nuzzled and showed his soft, adorable belly in the hope that the human would decide to bring him home with them. After all, even if they didn't let him be an "outside cat," he could make a run for the door when it opened. He had a much better chance of escape there than here. But each time, he had been put back in the cage and the humans picked another, less appealing (if he said so himself) cat to bring home with them. It was getting late in the day now, and he knew the shelter would probably close soon. Humans didn't like to be out at night, for some reason. Well, he surmised, there would always be tomorrow.

Julian ended up getting to the shelter a little (a lot) later than he'd meant to. He'd had some trouble convincing himself that a cat would help the situation... but he already had went out and purchased the basics he'd needed. Food, bowls, cat box and cat gravel, a small scratchy post, a few jingly toys, a little carrier... There were conflicting sources on catnip and whether it was good or bad for cats, so he'd left that out for now. He hadn't come here in his own vehicle, no, he'd taken the bus system... He'd have to take the cat with him back to the apartment on the bus. Poor thing would probably be miserable. Maybe he should reconsider... He could come back with a friend so they could drive straight home. But he was already here. Well, it wouldn't hurt to at least look.
He approached the desk and quietly spoke to the receptionist for a few minutes before he was shown to the kennel room. He noted that there were a few other people around and he moved out of their way whenever they grew close to him. He looked toward the kennels quietly, uncertain exactly what he was supposed to look for in a 'good' cat.

The cat felt a twinge of hope as a child came over to look at him, cooing in admiration at the fluffiness of his fur. He padded over to the door of his cage, pushing down his irritation at the way the mesh felt on his paw pads, and rubbed against it, purring at the child. But then disappointment replaced his hope when another child- probably this one's littermate- called to them and it walked away. Defeated, the cat sat back on his haunches, glowering at the handle of his cage. If only he could just get it open on his own with his cat paws, and he wouldn't be in this position. But he couldn't, and the cage was too small to turn to his human form in the middle of the night and open it that way. And so instead he was stuck playing this silly and fruitless game.

Julian looked between the kennels quietly, at first from a distance. There was a fair amount of younger cats, kittens even. They'd get adopted quickly enough. They were a little high energy for him anyways. And he'd have to watch them really closely... That wouldn't work. He had a full time job. He'd need a cat that was a little older. Not old enough to need constant supervision or a lot of vet bills, though... So that left the in-between of two to five years. As the other families made their way across the room and began to reaffirm which cats they wanted, he began to move into the empty space they left. He spotted one cat with fairly thick fur and he quietly wondered how big the cat actually was compared to how much fur it had. It'd be funny if it was 90% hair... kinda odd though.
In his musing, he noticed the cat's odd eyes. He actually had to look twice to make sure he wasn't making a mistake. The two different colors were sort of neat, but they were kinda hard to look at.

The cat noticed a new human looking at him and watched him for a moment, wondering if he would come over. The man seemed uncertain, so after a few moments, the cat let out a loud mrrrrow, calling to him. For some reason, humans seemed to get very excited when cats meowed at them, though he was careful not to do it too much as it seemed many also didn't like cats who meowed too much. How contradictory humans were. Regardless, he hoped that would lure the new human in.

Julian was a little surprised that the cat suddenly started making sounds, supposedly at him. He was a little curious if this car was one of those breeds he'd heard about that were very vocal, or were upset to be left alone. He was a little cautious to consider a cat like that, but seeing as his house was always so quiet, maybe a break from the silence would be a good thing. He returned the cat's 'maow's with a quiet "hey" as he walked over and stood in front of the little kennel. He wasn't too keen on reaching inside the pen since he wasn't really familiar with cats, but he held his hand up outside the mesh. Standing this close, the cat did look significantly softer (and a bit more real) under the thick layer of fur.

The cat let out an authentic purr, satisfied with his victory, even if it was a small one. He stood, sniffing at the human's hand, and then rubbed his face and side against the mesh, displaying his soft fur. In the wild, his fur was an advantage because it meant that, in a fight, it was more difficult for the claws and teeth of his enemies to tear at his skin. However, he found that humans seemed to like his thick white fur as well. It was one reason he generally avoided them, as children frequently tried to approach him, commenting on his pelt, but now he hoped that would be an advantage. And besides, he did like to think he was much prettier than the browns and oranges of most of the other cats.
(I'm going to enjoy playing this character so much because, as would be expected of a cat, he is rather conceited XD)

(X3 our roommate's cat is yowling for attention. its 1:30 am. he's so cute, i'll brb quick he sounds so sad ;A; HIS TOES ARE UNDER THE DOOR.)
Julian did note that the white hair on the cat would probably stand out on everything in his apartment. Still, at least the cat seemed friendly enough. He looked over at the board on the door of the kennel, reading over his information. The cat was known to be friendly... He carefully reached a few fingers through the mesh, lightly scratching the cat's cheek as it was presented. He looked briefly at the other cats receiving attention from the other guests. They all seemed pretty happy. The people and the cats both. He looked back at the cat in front of him. He wondered if the employees would let him hold the cat a bit and see if it was alright with being handled.

(My cat does that. Sometimes if she thinks no one is home she'll just go around the house yowling. I'm actually not sure if it's because she gets lonely if that's her equivalent of singing when no one is around lol.)
The cat purred louder, rubbing against the human's fingers. Internally, he just wanted the ordeal to be over with. Please take me home with you so I can run away forever, he thought as he stared at the human with wide eyes, trying to appear as adorable as possible.

( <3 <3 i like that thought!)
Julian looked around again, stepping back from the kennel and withdrawing his hand. He hadn't made up his mind yet about what sort of cat he wanted. If he changed his mind, he didn't like the idea of suddenly turning his attentions to another cat. Still, this one seemed very friendly. He'd been advised to find a cat that would pay attention to him and would want attention back, but still with some independence. He wasn't sure how to look for the independence thing, but so far, this one fit the other descriptions. He knew he wouldn't be getting a second cat, so he didn't need to worry about how well it got along with other cats... So far, he liked the idea of taking home this friendly one, and the added bonus of getting to go home quickly. He walked over toward the desk, taking a few minutes to get the attention of an employee who wasn't too busy. He asked a few questions about the white cat with the odd eyes. After a moment, the employee returned with Julian a few paces behind her. She opened the pen and picked up the cat, briefly checking its chart before speaking to Julian.
"He's a little too old to be declawed, and even if he wasn't, I'd have to advise against it. As for other vet-related business, he's missing a few vaccines, and he's still intact, so if you want to have him fixed, you'll have to arrange for an appointment with your local vet. As far as we've seen, he hasn't seemed too hostile or unfriendly. He might have been abandoned after a few months or a year in someone's house, considering he's been so friendly. You wanted to hold him?" She offered, holding the cat to him.
Julian hesitated a second before carefully wrapping his hand around the cat's chest and looping an arm underneath it to support its weight. This was how you held a cat right?

The cat resisted the urge to squirm as the woman picked him up, but it wasn't the first time today and he was beginning to grow accustomed it it. Or at least, slightly less uncomfortable. Still, regardless of his irritation, he stopped his tail from twitching and instead sat in the woman's arms, purring. It became a bit more difficult when she passed him to the male- transferring between humans was always clumsy. Plus, the other human didn't hold him quite as well, and so he couldn't help but shift around a bit, digging his claws into the person's shirt to steady himself.

Post by ValkoinenLeuka on Feb 26, 2017 2:27:01 GMT -5
Julian tried to adjust his hold on the cat, frowning a little when he felt its claws catch on his shirt. "Sorry..." He apologized quietly, though whether it was to the woman or the cat wasn't exactly clear. He waited for the cat to settle himself. At least it wasn't trying to fight or jump away. As it started to relax - he hoped it was relaxing - he considered his options. If he took the cat now, the search and the wait was over. But he had to get it home on the bus. If he left it, he'd have to come back somehow, and he could still end up taking it home on the bus...
"Do you have any other questions?" The employee asked.
"Yeah... Do you have a cardboard carrier or anything like that?" He asked. "I wasn't able to bring the carrier I bought...."
"Of course, if you decide to take Snowball home today, we'll set you up with one when you leave."
"Snowball..." Julian's brow creased a little. He couldn't quite agree with that name... Cats weren't really like dogs that they answered to a name, right? He could just call it something else, and it would respond all the same, right? If it even responded.

"Snowball" listened to the conversation eagerly, and he couldn't help but begin to feel excited. Perhaps there was hope for escaping today after all! His plumy flicked back and forth excitedly as he indulged for a moment in contemplating his freedom. Then he turned his attention back to the humans. He didn't like the idea of having to go somewhere in a box, but if that was the only way.... he'd probably been through worse things anyhow. It would be irritating, nothing more. Still, he didn't allow that thought to get him down, and forced himself to continue purring quietly at the humans.

After a moment of consideration, Julian nodded. "Do I need to put him back in the kennel while the paperwork is set up?" He asked. Truthfully, actually holding the cat sort of helped it grow on him... Once he got past getting the cat home, it might actually be as nice as everyone said to have an animal companion in the house.
"Well, you only need to sign a few papers, and pay the adoption fee, and you're good to go. If you prefer, you can put him back or continue to hold him." She said.
"I'll keep him with me... If he puts up with me..." He answered.
The woman nodded, and led Julian back out to the desk, setting a few papers on the desk. She explained them, told him the cost of adopting the cat, and started setting up the cat carrier as Julian looked through the papers. After a moment, he took out his wallet and placed a few bills on the desk, then signed the papers.
