Skylar Kinsey Brennan Skylar loved most things about New York. The lights, the activity, the people; the list could go on forever if you gave her enough time to write it. One thing, however, that she hated about the city that never sleeps was the traffic. It was a total nightmare. She'd been sitting for an hour now, stuck in a long line of cars, with one hand on the wheel and the other draped lazily out the car's window. Luckily her Dodge Avenger got pretty great gas mileage, but god, was she bored. Of course, she chided herself, this situation was her own fault. Had she not left so late, she'd have been at the club by now. After all, she had lived in New York long enough to know about the awful Friday night traffic. But had she listened to reason? Nah. She, obviously, had put off her departure from home as long as possible, doing the one thing that most of the people in her circle of peers would frown upon: studying. Not watching reality TV (god those shows were lame) or applying a pound of makeup to completely rearrange her face (what was the point, when everyone would see what she really looked like eventually anyway?), but sitting on a leather couch in her designer jeans and cashmere sweater, reading intensely about math. Good god, if the others found out, she'd be a laughingstock. Good thing they wouldn't. They all knew she was brilliant, and that while they all got reality shows and celebrity status she'd probably... well, she didn't know what she would be doing. The way that she was going, it certainly wouldn't be that. She actually scoffed out loud at the thought of that. Me, a reality TV star? Yeah, right. Being the super smart daughter of one of the most super smart (and super rich) cardiothoracic surgeons in not just New York, but the entire United States, was good enough for her. Who needed fame, anyway? Finally reaching her turn into the parking lot of the nightclub, Skylar turned in, thankfully finding a parking space that was relatively close to the front. She got out, locked the car, and made her way into the building. Which was loud. She actually winced. How does anyone hear anything in this place? She wondered with a bit of a scowl, making her way to the bar. She started off light, ordering just a glass of red wine, and not the cheap kind, either. The very expensive, good kind. The kind that was actually worth the money she spent on it. Turning, she began to make her way to the little area that her group had reserved, tucked away at the back. It was much quieter back here. Thank God, she thought with relief. The relief was short lived, for it was then that she ran into him. Kody Forte, her nemesis. Also, if things continued along their current disastrous path, her stepbrother to be. The thought made her lip curl with disgust as, not for the first time, she wondered what the heck her father saw in his mother that led him to the desire to marry her. Skylar found it completely baffling. She would have loved to say something completely rude and tasteless to him, but she hadn't been raised that way-- and he hadn't exactly done anything to her. She just didn't like him. So instead, she went with. "Fancy seeing you here tonight, Kody." To her credit, her tone was completely insincere. So perhaps she was a tad more petty than she usually let on. ((This is... not exactly my best work uvu ))

HADLEY T. R. HALEELEMENT NIGHTCLUB
God, Hadley loved this.
The music was loud enough to drown out her own thoughts; her heartbeat, replaced with bass thumping through her veins. She loved the soft rush of warm air entering the club, she loved the extra handful of inches of height her teal heels gave her. She loved the feeling of silent watchers as she bee-lined first for the bar.
She liked the person she became with a couple of drinks in her system, and in a setting like this, she'd actually rather not have to deal with any people without one. It wasn't like she really needed the extra injection of confidence or anything, but it let the part of her that demanded control and organisation to relax. It made it easy to shrug off any worries she was carrying and replaced them with more laughter, more boldness. That being said, she was, admittedly, a bit of a lightweight, and she knew it was a delicate balance between that happy, slightly hazy state, and crossing the line into a far less elegant self.
Onwards, now, to the more secluded back, Hadley navigated her way to the private booths. In no particular hurry, however, she scoped the club as she went, partially scanning for any familiar faces she might happen upon, partially just absorbing herself. Summer was always to be tainted by the scattering of her kingdom, and this was the first re-gathering of the court. It felt rather like she had to check nothing in the territory had changed without her noticing.
Approaching from behind Skylar - who appeared to have only just recently arrived at the herself - she jabbed an elbow at the other girl's shoulder, technically meant as a playfully rough gesture of friendliness, although even she felt that it hit a little harder than intended. Not that she was about to apologise for that or anything. It hadn't really been intentional, after all. Anyway, Hadley was glad they were already here. She would've hated to be the first to arrive, but being last would be almost as bad in her eyes. She could recall, some handful of years ago, her father telling her that if you were among the first to arrive to any occasion and among the last to leave, the less chance anybody had to badmouth you. Even to Hadley it sounded a vain and silly thing, and yet she had never quite got it out of her head either. It was just one of those things that had stuck with her, for good or for bad.
"Skylar; Kody," she greeted, voice sugary and smooth as honey. "How's my new favourite sibling pair?" she queried with sly laughter in her voice, adding before either had a chance to respond, "well, step-siblings-to-be - whatever, same difference," she waved a hand dismissively.
There was just the right level of venom lying under the words that it could just be detected, if you looked past her bright-white smile, and could hear under the layers of lightness and humour in her tone. Yes, just enough to make you wonder if there was some malice back there, but no where near enough that, if anyone called on it, she could wave them off with ease. She was just joking, of course - don't be so uptight!

[ same. I just hate it so much. Hm. I gave him a horrible friend to drag him to the night club and effectively leave him within the first seven minutes. However, I need brainstorm to integrate him with the cool cats. Is he a cool cat? Is he just one of those people nobody can really hate or will feel guilty hating so they accept him as ohana? Is he to spit on immediately by the others? I dunno. ]

[ i think his fame is definitely more fortune 500 company standards. He's the second and last son so he probably is a heir. They'll split it or tim will get it in entirety and his brother will do his own thing. That's the future.
So def could default on respect via fear of his money. But like, i think different opinions will happen. ]

βYou just spent two hours in my bathroom practicing βflirty facesβ and god-awful pick-up lines.β
βTimothy Grayson
Element Nightclub Timothy & his A+ worst friend ever
βWhyβd you drag me out again?β A voice complained, curled up in the limousine with a book in his hand, the flashing lights highlighting his glare from across the expanse of empty space. It wasnβt unusual for Chandler Aldegren to go out on the party scene, especially to crash a new night club. However, for Timothy Grayson it was an almost miracle for him to leave his living quarters, let alone his desk.Chandler ignored the pointless debate that could happen, vibrating in excitement as the limousine came to a halt. βYouβre twenty-one, drink liquor like my mother only at high-class meals with a sip and pinky out, and youβve never been out clubbing.β He reached over, dragging his friend from the overtly expensive carβhaphazardly tossing Timothyβs book back onto the seat. Chandler tugged on the collar of his friends shirt, thankfully Timothy wasnβt dressed in what could be described as 1980βs βpunch me in the face Iβm a nerdβ clothing. Tonight, the youngest Grayson was wearing a complimenting dark button down shirt and jeans. A hand through fluffy dark tresses hair, causing Timothy to bat it away before being led off toward the building with more protests.βI am positive Iβve seen your mother down an entire bottle of whiskey after your fatherβs stock took a plummet,β Tim added matter-of-factly under his breath, but the sudden dull pounding of the night club music deafened the snide remark into heat of the crowd. Wide blue eyes squinted and darted around, the pressure on his back becoming many different people of different sizes as he was squeezed through the crowd. βSomething strong to sip for my friend here, defile his virgin tongue to your best drink.β Timothy shot a glare at Chandler, who gave him an easy smile and shoving the drink in his hand while simultaneously downing one himself. βAll right. Three rules of night club etiquette. Number one, if sheβs looking your way sheβs interested.ββI hardly thinkβββAh ah Bambi. Number two, the middle of the dance floor is where anything can happen.ββSo letβs say a dinosaurβββDibs!βTimothy turned as Chandler ran off, sliding easily into the dance floor in front of a woman about their age, leaning close to talk directly into her ear. He blinked, surprised with how his outgoing, somewhat friend could simply leave him near the bar with a drink in hand. Nimble fingers ran through his hair, quickly losing Chandler in the crowd of people and knowing they wouldnβt find each other until Chandler sought him outβeven then the strong sense of moral goodness knew he couldnβt leave his friend behind despite being the one left at the tail edge of the crowd with no sense of what sort of action to take at the club.
He was staring at the ground. Timothy seemed to have the idea of moving towards a secluded booth, where the crowd was less intense and the dancing was minimum. His mouth went dry as he noticed Kody Forte, Skylar Brennan, and Hadley Hale. They were people he would see around East Lawrence University campus like many other acquaintances, a faint smile, a wave and a nod, maybe small talk on a class or just the general procedures of life; nothing that resolutely screamed βfriends foreverβ. However, they seemed likable enough give a small smile as he approached their familiar faces, catching the tail-end of the conversation with enough context to make a statement.
βIt canβt be all bad to be siblings.β Tim noted kindly, looking between the pair.
