Hello! So I recently came up with an idea for a Clan, that is set back in Ancient Egypt, when cats were worshipped and thought of as sacred creatures. This would be after they were domesticated by the Egyptians (so they wouldn't just be the jungle cat and african wild cat) but no longer live alongside humans (at least, the Clan doesn't, as they are wild.) They would follow a different religion and have different beliefs than the traditional Warrior Cat Clans and would have ancient Egyptian names. Of course, for this to work, there would need to be some research involved, so I was thinking we could work together and help each other learn more about the time period as we go along. This will probably also take a lot of work, so I'd be grateful for some other planners to help me make this Clan!
I'm still not sure whether it should have a fantasy theme (winged cats or whatever you want) or if the cats should be more realistic. That's up for you to help decide!
So, these are the things we need to consider (I probably left stuff out, please tell me if I did) :
Rules [ ] History [ ] Territory [ ] Camp [ ] Plot [ ] Introduction [ ] About the Clan [ ] Layout [ ] Banner [ ] Ranks [ ] Beliefs/Religion [ ] Cats (any common pelt colouring, breeds, sizes etc) [ ] Predators/Prey [ ] Traditions [ ] Terminology (other words for fresh-kill, suncircle etc) [ ] Clan code [ ]

I wouldn't mind working on the territory. Do you have any environment in particular for the Clan?

Okay, so some common breeds for Egypt would be: Egyptian mau (Golden, bronze, and silver colored cats with black spots and striped legs and tails) I would say this would be the most common in the clan ^^ Also for beliefs what if they held the same beliefs that their twoleg counterparts did, but instead of Osiris being the big deity Bastet was?? I just did I bunch of research on the deitys for an Astronomy project so I can type out all of the storys if you want And perhaps there are the "Big five" deitys that choose their followers from the moment they are born- For example, Thoth is the God of wisdom, so if Thoth chose a kit they would be the next medicine cat. Bastet (Or Horus) would choose the next leader at birth etc etc etc

I wouldn't mind working on the territory. Do you have any environment in particular for the Clan? i don't really have anything in particular for the environment, just obviously a desert-like area as the clan is set in egypt, maybe like a pyramid or something? i know ancient egypt had trees so maybe a small woodland or something? i don't know much about the plants egypt has, but im sure that could be found online.

Maybe one tradition is that cats wear jewelry? I know how the Egyptians loved their jewelry, and maybe it could be a tradition that when a cat is old enough, their mother would pick out a necklace/bracelet/earring/etc for their kits?

Maple- that's a good idea for a tradition ^^ hmm, idk about the mark thing, maybe there could be a different sign? or the god just tells them? also, if we do the ranks like the gods or godessess, it could get confusing. i feel like the ranks should be called something sifferent, to avoid confusion.

so for the 5 gods or godessess i have two options. we could have 5 of all the egyptian animals seen as 'sacred.'
1) Bastet - Cat // godess of protection. protects the Clan from danger. brings good things to the good and wrath to the evil. 2) Hathor - Cow // godess of motherhood and love. 3) Sobek - Crocodile // god of the army. 4) Thoth - Baboon // god of knowledge, the moon etc 5) Khnum - Ram // God of the source of the Nile river - brings water.
or all cats (i turned cat-related ones to full cats or big cats) :
1) Bastet // godess of protection. protects clan for danger. brings good to good cats and wrath to evil cats. 2) The Mayan Jaguar // God of the underworld 3) Dawan // tigress. Godess of combat. 4) Mafdet // called the 'runner'. also a protector. cheetah. 5) Mut // great mother godess

also Seshat should be a godess, like you said, as she is healing c: maybe instead of Mafdet, as we'd have two protectors? we could come up with designs for the appearance of the gods and goddesses, if we're going with the second idea of all cats.

I think we should stick with the first five, even though they aren't all cats their "kittypet" (not really but for lack of a better term) would have been taught those. And I would use Shehsat for protection too ^^ Also perhaps Anubis could be worshipped as well? Like thats who they use during death ceremonys and he would preside over nine lives ceremonys as well? And when they appear to cats they could take on a cat form with their animal features- for example: Hathor would have the cow markings- like be black and white Sobek- crocodile teeth and claws, and spikes along the ridge of her back, dark brown fur Thoth- pale grey tom with a white "beard" like baboons that's a good idea ^^ with all these gods im actually confused on who we are actually using. who is it we are using?

so, for traditions ive got (i included the ideas of others) are my ideas okay? ;0;
birth of new kit/s ;; a celebration takes place, as new kits is a sign of new strength within the clan, as the clan has gained new members. each cat presses their nose to each kit's head in greeting. the leader congratulates the mother, and the current apprentices (they will have a different name) choose each kit a gift and hunt prey for the mother. the leader thanks Hathor, godess of motherhood.
when a kit reaches 6 moons ;; go through the pyramid - they must make their way to the core of the pyramid, where there is a large coffin, and they must speak with their ancestors (through a dream?) and the God which chooses to guide them must help them in their path in life until they are no longer an apprentice.
when cats become mates ;; a celebration takes place. Hathor, godess of love, is thanked and watches over the couple. the cats must speak vows chosen my the medicine cat. the cats wear jewellery, and each congratulate the couple.
when an apprentice becomes whatever they become ;; the leader calls a meeting and the apprentice announces what path they want to take to the Clan. they stay awake until midnight, in honour of their God or Godess that has guided them through their apprenticeship and a way of saying goodbye until the time comes when they should meet again.
when a cat becomes an elder ;; a large celebration takes place. the cats hold a feast, and thank the elder for all they have done until now, vowing to care for them throughout their senior lives as they have always cared for the clan and its young.
first day of the spring (no idea what it'll be called yet) ;; the kingfisher arrives in the deserts at this point. a kingfisher is caught and the leader chooses a cat who may eat it. they celebrate the first day of Spring, which means more prey for the clan
new leader ;; when a cat becomes a leader, they must travel to the human village and prove their bravery by having some sort of contact with a human. in ancient Egypt it is a crime to kill a cat, so they are often treated with the utmost respect.
death of a cat ;; the death of a cat is an extremely big thing. the cats believe that they live in the underworld amongst humans, but whichever God or Godess that chose them when they are younger guided them through the afterlife. the body of the cat is covered in flowers and wrapped in vines, and they are made to look as beautiful as possible. rather like a funeral, those closest to the cat say speeches, remembering the life of the cat, and words of the afterlife is told. the cat is buried wherever was their favourite place, and flower seeds are planted there. the cats hold a feast and wear jewellery.

Possible names for the Clan's Ranks:
Leader = Chief/Maybe Pharaoh Deputy(Perhaps multiple since originally, a Pharaoh had many advisers and one head advisor) = Head Advisors, advisors(Maybe add up to five total) Medicine Cat = Healer/Shaman Warriors -- So I was thinking that the warriors are split into three groups, the hunters, the generals, and the scouters. They would all be taught a little of the same things but focus on their main goals. Apprentices = Trainees, pupils, novice, cadet, learners. Feel free to choose, I personally like Pupils. Queens = Kit nurtures/Or just plainly being queens Elders = Simply elders until we think of something else.
And then there's the heavens/gods. Also, did you guys have any ideas on like bad or evil gods?
