( alright, thanks! )
Maria was being bustled into the courtroom by her lawyer, the only other vampire in the entire room, more minutes late than she'd have liked. They weren't even pleasant minutes. They'd been spent going over her rights again (more or less, you have the right to survive) and then quizzing her on them. She could understand why. So few vampires got the chance to work for themselves, she was sure this one wanted to do everything she could, for her own sake. Finally though, she found herself back at the front of the courtroom, watching the other vampire hand over a stack of documents.

(So sorry I didn't see your post /: )
Astro sat there watching what was going on. It went by slow but soon enough things went to an end. As everything ended he stood up getting ready to go. He waited for Maria (assuming this is when they're stuck together) to be ready to go. He readjusted his suit jacket awkwardly as he hated wearing them but was told by his dad to wear one to look more 'proper' "I hope your last few days were spent well" he said quietly

( it's fine, don't worry. )
Maria tugged at the sleeves of her shirt but nodded. "They were, thank you." This part was always the worst part. The part where everyone involved realised that she was no longer a free woman. The few men and women gathered would scatter and return home, feeling just a little bit dirty and Astro and she would go about their day in painfully awkward ways. "Were yours good?"

"I'm glad they were" he said and gave a smile. He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly as he looked at her. "Mine were alright there wasn't anything new going on so nothing to be happy about you know?" He said and sighed. "Shall we get going?" He asked after a moment of silence

( right? the fact that people are awake while I sleep just in general is so weird to me. like, even if my parents get up before me or something it's strange for a moment. )
"I guess we should," Maria agreed. She had no reason or want to stay in the courtroom, nothing to gain from staying in the building even. She considered reminding him that he didn't need to ask her for confirmation but didn't. Being asked her opinion was nice and she didn't want to be the reason it stopped. It might eventually anyway, but she'd hold onto it for now. The little things were what made this bearable.

Astro nodded and made his way towards the exit. "I'm glad we're done with this place." He said with a huff "i really disliked it." He added as he opened the door and walked out. "Are you hungry or thorsty at all?" He asked politely as they got outside. He knew they'd stop somewhere to get food either way because he was feeling quite hungry himself

( I get almost panicky if I don't get up early, because it kind of feels like I'm wasting time? idk why. doesn't stop me from sleeping in past noon every single day over the summer though. )
Maria followed him out, glad to leave the courthouse behind. She didn't like it either. "It's not pleasant," she agreed with a terse nod, shooting the building a final glance. She looked to him as he spoke again, then shook her head. "I get this murderous look when I get hungry," she said jokingly, gesturing to her face. "Hopefully you'll never have to see that, but you'll know it if you ever do." She gave a small smile to show him that this was all a joke, albeit the truth, then added, "I wouldn't mind a glass of water, though, if we're stopping somewhere anyway."

(Oh man, don't get me started on that. I get way too anxious if I don't do anything productive throughout a day but I generally don't have much to do aside from school work which generally keeps me busy a lot of the day)
Astro chuckled knowing it was a joke "well I hope we never get to that point" he said with a small smile "and yeah I plan on stopping to get some food somewhere on the way home." He added as he made his way towards The parking lot. He brushed the hair out of his face and yawned "all that sitting makes me sleepy" he said as he stretched out "do you know how to drive?" He then proceeded to ask as they entered the parking lot

( yeah, I basically just have school, too. I wish I had more on my plate honestly, just so I wouldn't be so anxious that I'm wasting time, but I know that'd tire me out so I don't look for other things to do. a catch-22 I guess. )
Maria had to laugh at that. "I've been driving longer than you've been alive," she said with a raised eyebrow. "I've had a lot of time on my hands, and unlike the more refined of my kind I didn't want to get sixteen degrees," she explained, her tone level again. "I haven't passed up the chance to drive for twelve decades." She didn't sound upset or angry, though maybe a little affronted. Still, she supposed he'd need to know. It made sense that he'd ask, seeing as he couldn't exactly as her to drive if she was unable.

Astro laughed as he rubbed his eyes. "Good to know" he said as they approached the car. "Catch" he said quickly after reaching into his pocket grabbing the keys and tossing them in her direction "I assume you know how to get around her so take us to any of the nearby fast food places" he said as he opened the passenger door and got in. He laid his seat back and closed his eyes as if he were to sleep but he knew he wouldn't be able to until later.

Maria caught the keys and nodded, getting into the driver's seat. She glanced over at Astro and, upon noticing that he was lying down, frowned, but said nothing. "To the nearest fast-food place we go," she said, turning the keys in the ignition. Before long, she was out on the road and headed away from the courthouse. Not even five minutes had passed before they arrived at a fast-food place. "Here we are," Maria said, cutting the engine.
( I used to do a lot more, but I got sick a few years ago so now I get tired really quickly and just don't have the energy anymore. I think I'd have the same feeling even if I did still do everything I used to, but still.
also, if I just disappear without warning, assume I've fallen asleep.
finally, when should we bring in the vampire ambush? are we thinking now, more or less, or after AStor's eaten? )

(Man that sucks. But sounds good, if ya disappear have a good sleep lmao and yeah we should have it soon and it might as well be before he's eaten)
Astro put his seat back up and yawned once more before taking a look around "thanks for driving" he said politely and gave a smile. He figured being nice about the things she did would help a little more but wasn't sure how she'd take it. He got out of the car and stretched his arms before looking at the food place "good choice" he said with a chuckle "are you sure all you wan't is water?" He asked curiously

( 'tis what it is, I suppose. and yeah, sounds good, I'll bring him in now then. be warned, I've no idea how to turn this into a proper ambush, my dramatic streak means I have to include that bit at the beginning where the bad guy talks for a bit about his life or whatever, so that's what I'm doing. hope that's okay. ooooo, I like that! we'd have to figure out a way to make it work seeing as they'll need blood and have no-one to provide it but I definitely think it's an idea we should work on. )
"Of course," Maria replied. "Heads up!" She locked the car and then tossed the keys back to him, watching them arc through the air toward him. "Just water is fine," she replied with a nod. "Actual food makes me a little sick nowadays." By nowadays, of course, she meant the last 90 or so years, but she wouldn't need to explain. She moved to go around the car when, out of the corner of her eye, a figure caught her eye. A moment of observation passed. It couldn't be.
He was approaching them nonchalantly, but as he got closer she could tell he'd been running. Chasing after the car, maybe? He was a vampire, that wouldn't be impossible for him.
"Maria," he crooned once he was close enough to be heard, somehow managing to make it sound friendly. "Long time no see." He gave her a wide smile, ignoring Astro completely. He was the reason he was here, but the moment he'd realised that the vampire being paired with him was Maria, he'd known he couldn't just come in swinging. He wasn't here to hurt her.
"Logan," she responded with a smile of her own. "What's it been? Six years? Seven?"
"Too long," came his reply. "I'd love to chat, but I have things to do, places to be, you understand. Maybe we could catch up over a drink sometime?" He fell silent and for just a short moment, his expression softened into an apologetic one. "Sorry if this gets you in trouble." Then, he lunged.
In a blur, he was at Astro's side and on the offensive. Maria didn't know if he simply intended to do him some serious harm or if he was here to kill - she knew Logan well and knew that the second was a possibility. For a brief moment, long enough to consider letting her companion die, she stood completely frozen. But a single thought brought her to her senses. This will let them find us.
In seconds, she'd leapt into the fray herself, defending a man she was spying on from a man she'd known for years. If she'd known her day would come to this, maybe she'd have skipped the court date and taken the title of fugitive. Fighting Logan was about the last thing she wanted to do.
( there I go, writing more than I intend as usual. oops. )

(Okay that sounds good to me
Honestly don't be sorry about writing lots it's always nice to read honestly)
Astro caught the keys and nodded as he made his way towards the place but stopped hearing Maria was talking to someone named Logan who he'd figured was a vampire himself if they'd known each other like this. As the man suddenly appeared by his side it left him almost in a daze at how fast he was to do that so quickly and smooth. He had almost fell over as Maria jumped in. "What the h*** is this?" He asked himself quietly, his voice inaudible to the other two.

( I love writing longer posts honestly, so every now and then you might just get a monster of a post, haha. I was going to write some proper action here, but no matter how hard I tried it all just came out as a heated exchange of words. probably because I tied them too closely together and then couldn't bear to make them fight violently. oops. I left the door open for some other, more violent, altercations though. )
Maria managed to catch Logan by the shoulder and hold him off. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" she demanded, but no answer came. "Don't make fight you. Neither of us want that, do we?" The way he looked at her told her everything she needed to know. He hadn't been expecting her to fight him on Astro's behalf. He looked bewildered and a little betrayed, but behind that there was hardened determination.
He shrugged her hand off easily and moved to barge past her but she grabbed his other arm and twisted it until his back was to the man she found herself protecting. He hissed and raised a hand to strike back but she raised an eyebrow and he spun out of her grip instead. "Logan, this is not the time nor the place," she warned. "Take a breath for god's sake." She wondered if he was doing this because he'd been told or because he wanted to. That was always something to take into consideration with vampires. "You'll get back at them for what they did, but don't add to it. Don't make a mistake that'll end up hurting me, too."
"Why won't you let me kill him?" He sounded desperate.
"Because today is not the day we start killing humans." He seemed to catch something in her words, because he stepped back. Not an order, then. Maybe he'd overheard something. Maybe he'd been planning his own little uprising every day for the last twelve years. It didn't matter. The resistance was silent, but it would be deadly. And they needed it to be silent, for the sake of their entire people.
Logan fixed her with a glare as cool as ice. "They don't deserve to live. Don't you remember what happened to Kara? To you? You really think that's the only time it's happened."
Maria returned his look with a burning look of her own. "Logan. Today is not the day you kill someone and ruin your life. You need to learn to blame the individual and not the people. Isn't that what landed us here?" She grabbed his arm and pulled him to her so that they were close enough to embrace, but rather than placing her arms over his shoulders she pulled him down to her level. "You'll get your revenge. But this isn't the place to get it," she murmured, words audible only to the two of them. "One day, you'll be able to bleed that man dry. But this is not the man you want, this is not the day and when you do, I don't want to be anywhere near it."
He swatted her hand and stumbled away. "I'll wait to kill," he said after a long silence. "But I'm not the only one fighting, and the others wouldn't mind taking you down with him." He jabbed a finger in Astro's direction, pulling his lips back in a feral snarl. "One day, Maria, it'll be kill or be killed. I wonder whose side you'll fight for then."
He looked like he wanted to say something else. His eyes flickered with something. Hope? Grief? It was hard to tell. But he didn't wait around, whipping around and taking off at superhuman speed, slowing down just enough to trace a finger along Maria's upper arm as he passed.
( another really long post of talking!! exciting! )

(That was very well done and tbh I don't think I could write something that long or that well /: lol
Along the lines lf him being turned later I could add someone of my own who we could say knew either Logan or Maria, maybe both? And they go crazy and end up turning Astro and then either of us could make up another person presumably close to Astro who would help keep his secret and keep him fed and such. Maria would have to either find a way to feed without being caught or go full on fugitive and be tracked and stuff adding more drama for the two?)
Astro was left speachless after the encounter. He hadn't taken in much as he was too busy trying to figure out why this would happen but he couldn't make up his mind on one solid idea. He felt he should ask what was going on and he could get the answer if he had really wanted to but figured it'd be best left for another time. His heart was still racing after what had felt like an hour to him since it had begun but it in reality would be about five minutes of them going back and forth. He was glad a fight hadn't broke out because he had figured that Maria and himself weren't really close enough for her to really defend him. Astro had just stood there the whole time which made him wonder, if something were to really happen to him would he be able to survive? Although he knew he wouldn't he told himself repeatedly that he would be okay if anything were to happen. "I need to go figure myself out" he said as he begun to walk off. He wasn't sure if he'd be safe walking on his own but he wouldn't go far if she decided not to follow which he wouldn't blame her for staying behind. As he walked he pulled out a pack of cigarettes that he had only for times he had been severely stressed or needed to calm down, which this was definitely one of those times. The only thing he had really heard was the part of himself being killed and that struck a chord that made it hard for him to think straight. He shakily lit the cancer stick in his hand and took a long slow drag as he walked. He rubbed his eyes hoping he'd wake up from some odd dream, maybe he had fallen asleep on the ride and wasn't in reality right now? He knew he was just wishing but he had never genuinely experienced seeing a vampire like that.

( thank you ^^ it's been a while since I wrote something that long, but it was good fun. full on fugitive Maria sounds like a lot of fun to write tbh. I say we go for it, keep the ball rolling. it was a good post! I could definitely tell you'd thought it through. )
Maria considered following him, but she had some thinking of her own to do. And he hadn't told her to do anything, giving her a brief amount of freedom. She watched him go, then walked to lean against the hood of his car. She didn't dare let her guard down, but she knew this would be it for now. Logan might be a little unhinged, but she knew that he loved her still. He would have warned her if someone else was on the way. His hesitation to harm her had confirmed that.
She wondered what he meant by others. Was there another resistance, or was he a part of the same one she was? She doubted the latter, they had express orders to protect the existence of it from becoming public knowledge. A stunt like this wasn't the resistance's style. She suspected a much smaller group, a group of vampires just as destroyed by grief as Logan himself had been. Those had been around since the end of the war. That was the most believable story, so it was the one she'd have to sell.

(I just kinda added a lot to what he was doing lol but I'm gonna try to keep my posts to the lengthier side now considering we both like long posts But it's good we have the whole plot figured out now - for the most part. But yeah we can totally add some more people, I like having more people in the plots instead of the interactions between just two people you know?) After a short ten minutes Astro finally returned. He was calmed down and was doing his best to forget it had happened but he knew he'd be keeping it in the back of his head. He knew one day something was going to happen but didn't have the proof and decided he'd keep it to himself in the meantime. "I feel we can both agree we should just forget about that." He said with a smile. He kept his cool well enough acting as if he hadn't almost ruined himself to say the least. "I'm going to go get the food now, and I'll bring out your water" he said politely before making his way inside. A few minutes later he came back out the bag of food in hand and her water in the other, he approached slowly clearly unsure of her now but not to the point he wouldn't trust her. He held out the water and gave a smile "here you go"

"Forgetting it sounds good," Maria agreed, relieved that he wasn't going to question her. Technically, she didn't have to answer questions, but refusing to do so wasn't going to look good. And she really wasn't in the mood to go into detail about her second partnership and the disaster that had been the end of it. Certainly not with someone she just met, and not right after she'd seen the consequences.
"Thanks," she said as he returned, taking her water with a grateful nod. She drank it slowly, straightening up again. "Do you want to eat here or should I drive us somewhere?" she asked, doing everything she could to act as casual as she had before Logan had arrived. He'd said that he wanted to forget it, so she would act as if she had. No matter how hard it was to look like she was entirely unaffected, she'd try to the best of her ability,

"No problem" he answered as she took the drink "I'm starved so I'd like to just stay and eat." He then said as he took a spot beside her leaning on the hood of his car. He pulled out his food and began scarfing it down. He really was starved and needed the food "i don't have any work that needs to be done today, would you like to go to a movie or something" he asked hoping to find a way for them to hangout instead of it being constant wor, so the idea of a movie sounded good to him and then hopefully afterwards they could find something else to do that would bring them closer as friends. Which all in all would be a good thing for both of them

Maria nodded, continuing to sip her water carefully. Water was the only thing her stomach could handle perfectly well - other than blood, that was - but even then she liked to drink it slowly. It made her feel a little safer. "A movie sounds fun," she replied with a small smile. Definitely more fun than errands he could have her run. She appreciated it. "I'd love to see one." Not only would a movie be a good distraction from what had happened, but it would be a reason to not speak. And though it wasn't as if the idea of having a conversation with Astor was a bad one, she also knew that they'd most likely be strained until she'd digested the events that had just transpired.

(Should we lead up to the events of him being turned? Like my new person knows Logan and is in the same group, or whatever we may call it, as him? Or should we just kinda wait and see?)
Astro finished his food off after a few minutes and took a look at Maria "what type of movie would you like to see?" He asked politely as he crumpled the paper bag the food was once in. He took a look around for the nearest garbage but couldn't find one so he shoved the now crumpled bag into his pocket. "I'm okay with any movie, really. So whatever sounds good to you works for me" he said and gave a small smile. He in all honesty didn't know any of the movies that were out at the time but thought watching one might settle things down in regards to the situation that had just previously happened which was something he saw that needed to happen.

( the vampire that turns him could definitely be a part of Logan's group, but I feel like Astro shouldn't turn quite yet? Maria wouldn't be totally opposed to turning him in at this point if she saw herself gaining something from it since she really doesn't know him yet. changing up a dynamic that isn't properly explored feels like a waste to me. idk also, I'm here but my posts will probably be short and I might just blink out of existance. I have a pretty bad migraine so I can't promise to stick around for long. )
Maria was silent for a few seconds, trying to remember any of the movies currently running. She hadn't been in a movie theatre since Kara's death twelve years prior so she'd stopped paying attention to that kind of thing. "I always loved comedies," she said. "But I've no idea what that would mean in therms of titles. It's not exactly been likely that I go to a cinema in a while, so I guess I haven't paid attention to those out right now." She gave an apologetic shrug, but she didn't look or sound upset. It wasn't as if it was all that big a deal for her to wait a few months to see something from home. Three months was nothing to a vampire. "Do you? Have any idea what movies they're showing?"
