Jonah didn't say anything to that, watching Beckett move the kettle, watching the way he stiffened, watching the way he folded in on himself.
Maybe Jonah was imagining it but. It made his stomach lurch either way.
"I'm sorry." he said, because he felt like he should.

Bryony yawned, rolling over onto a rock. Instantly, she was wide awake, keenly aware of the absence that was by her side and the point sticking into her back. "Bec..?" she asked tentatively, stretching her hand out. When she felt nothing, she opened her eyes, looking around. Quiet voices outdoors drew her attention, and Bry, messy curly braid, loose sweatpants and tank top and all that mess that she was, crept out the tent.
"Bec? Why are you up?"
Suddenly, she realized she'd interrupted something between Bec and the person who made her the most uncomfortable out of the whole gang--Jonah. Whoops.

Bec continued to watch the pot, only looking up as he heard someone emerging from the tent behind him. He perked up when he realized it was Bryony, standing up and turning to face her. "Just... Making some tea. Want any?" Bec answered, gesturing to the kettle on the ground.
-super short sorry??-

Elle's gaze followed the waitress as she walked away before she glanced down at the menu, a faint pink tinge on her cheeks before she calmed down and actually tried to read. After a few moments of struggling she huffed and gave up, leaning back on the plush booth seat and dropping the menu back down on the table, closing her eyes to clear the oncoming headache. She only opened them again when Dahlia began to speak (more like squeak, really,) brows furrowing as she stared across the table at her fellow questee. The daughter of Pan was confusing. She was a very cute person, but something about her just set Elle off. She still couldn't figure it out, no matter how hard she tried. Yet, despite the weird vibe, she still found herself stuck in situations with her that she wouldn't want to be in with any other questee, not even Brooke.
She frowned at Dahlia, scoffing lightly. "What do you mean by that? They might think you're a furry and a little odd but I'm sure that's all. You're fine. If you were worried you would've hidden them by now." she shrugged nonchalantly, glancing down at the menu again in order to avoid her gaze.
"Are you ready for drinks?" The waitress was back again, her gaze focused on Elle and not her partner, an obviously fake smile decorating her face now. The red-head glanced up, lips quirking up in a brief smile.
"I'll have hot chocolate. And she'll have..." she trailed off, gaze flickering to Dahlia as she prompted her to say something. She pointed her chin at the waitress as if to say 'now's your chance, talk.'

"I don't know, I like the idea that my shortcuts and emojis are making my stuffy ancestors roll in their graves," Brooke said ponderously, cupping her chin in her hands and sharing a grin with Jo. It had been so long since they'd actually talked, and Brooke wasn't the kind of person to dwell, but she had missed her. It wasn't like missing Courtney, or even Levi; Jo was her best friend, but she was also her equal in a lot of ways, which was something Brooke didn't experience often. Talking to someone as quick-minded and ambitious as her was like a breath of fresh air, and she never got tired of it. "And while you waste your time wondering if you put a comma in the right place, I'm moving on to bigger and better things."
She brushed a lock of damp hair out of her face, and it stuck to her forehead. "All I'm smelling is some kind of mildew and distant fast food grease, but I'll take your word that you smell gross. I wonder if Iris ever considered making, like, a 4d experience. She could probably make a lot more gold if she charged extra for you wanting to use smell or limited touch." Her gaze drifted up above the rainbow projecting Jo's face, her brain chewing on the idea before ultimately tossing it out. "Please wear shorts just once. Pretty please? Your legs need to breathe, Jo. If I make it out of this quest alive, you're so letting me dress you at least once." Brooke didn't care all that much about fashion, but she liked pushing people out of their comfort zones, and wearing fashionable clothes on purpose was definitely something Jo wasn't comfortable with. "I have these shorts that would make your butt look so good, Johanna, you don't even know."
Sensing that Jo was probably going to put in her best effort to kill her through iris-message after that little speech, Brooke smirked and made sure to answer her questions quickly. "Somewhere in Kansas? I was gonna make the Wizard of Oz joke, but I'm trying not to be so obvious. I've been driving all day with my hand all sliced up, and it's killing me." She held up her bandaged hand dramatically. "I need to hear the latest camp gossip."

When Andrew hugged her, Courtney almost lost it then and there. She sniffed and squeezed him tightly, clinging to him for the few seconds before he pulled away. Her gaze met his squarely for the first time their entire talk. Something about him made her calm down finally, nodding with his words with a small laugh. "Did he cry too?" she giggled a little, wiping at her eyes with the back of her hand. "I've missed you a lot too, Andy." she threw her arms around him again, pulling him into a hug as she buried her face in his shoulder, just the feel of one of her best friends calming her down. He smelled like linen and cookies and warmth and it comforted her quickly. "Wait, he told you?" she drew back after a while, brows furrowing for a moment. "I'm sorry if you found out clumsily; we were going to tell you eventually. We just weren't sure..." she trailed off, shaking her head. "Y'know, it doesn't really matter. No more secrets. No more bottled up feelings. Just honesty." She knew it was a hard thing to ask of him, but it was also a hard thing to ask herself. "I'm just...I'm glad you're okay. The day you were attacked was just so scary, you know? I just kept blaming myself. Tristan blamed himself. You blamed yourself. It was a mess that was never really talked through. It was terrifying, Andrew. I'm really, really glad you're okay. I'm glad you're safe." She took a deep breath and smiled gently at her friend, tucking a stray hair behind her ear. Andrew laughed as he was pulled into another hug. His heart felt whole - full - for the first time in a really long time. He held her silently, squeezing back, and it was enough. "I'm glad I'm safe too." he whispered, grinning as she drew away. "Still working on the okay bit but. Yeah, dude. It was ... really messed up for us to blame ourselves - it, it wasn't our faults, not by a long shot. It just took me a while to realize it." He felt like he had a lot to tell her and no place to start. It's okay, he reminded himself, as long as you do it eventually. Baby steps and all that. But something Courtney had said gave him pause and Andrew winced, just a bit. "He, um. Tris didn't tell you anything about our meeting, did he." It wasn't a question.

Jonah smiled a little and waved shortly at Bry, shoving down whatever weird annoyance at her he was feeling. It was dumb, because Beckett was the one at fault, with his clear eagerness to drop their previous conversation and flee to his sister, as well as his his total lack of response to Jonah's apology. like, Jonah didn't care that Beckett hated him - it was just concerning - it could effect their ability to work together and complete the quest successfully.
And Jonah ignored the sudden uneasiness in his stomach. He wondered if anyone thought to pack pepto bismol.
"Yo, Bry." he greeted, softly in order to not wake the others. "Sorry if we woke you."

"You didn't wake me. There was a rock," Bry spoke up awkwardly, trying to figure out why Jonah suddenly had a sharp, angry facade. "Uh. Anyways.. yeah, Bec, I'll take some. Chamomile? Or lavender?" She rubbed her temples, knotting up her hair.
"Why were you guys up so late /slash/ early?"

"It's... Jasmine." Beckett said shyly, giving an apologetic look to his sister. He started to pour cups of the tea, it finally being done after taking so long. He stood up and handed a cup to Bry, then picked up another and walked a few steps over to Jonah, holding it out for him to take.
"I couldn't sleep." Bec answered Bryony, shrugging his free shoulder so that he didn't shake the tea cup he was holding.

Jo rolled her eyes, the dimple in her cheek starting to ache slightly from smiling so much. She hadn't smiled so wide since her talk with Birch. In fact, she hadn't felt fully happy in a long time, and right now it was close to being there. Brooke was her other half; she would always be there, even if they were thousands of miles apart and they both smelled disgusting. "You always look for a business opportunity in everything." She rolled her eyes good-naturedly, but her smile faltered slightly as she thought about the black market again. It was hard to run it on her own. The pang in her chest grew. "And no, I'm not wearing your shorts, even if they make my butt look hot. No shorts. Not doing it. Pants are better." Sure, she regretted it sometimes but she just didn't like having her legs exposed. She felt too bare. "Besides, my butt looks perfectly fine in leggings, thank you very much."
As Brooke held up her own hand, Jo blinked, glancing down. Huh. Weird. She lifted her hand as well, waving at her friend. "I guess you got hurt then, too? Your text distracted me in the middle of my throwing. Dagger cut open my palm." She shrugged as she explained briefly, glancing off to the side. With another pang, it seemed to finally hit her that Brooke wasn't there. Brooke was in Kansas. Despite talking to her, it still wasn't the same. It wouldn't be the same.
"Camp drama? Well your lovely sister finally got together with Tristan. I'm not sure if that happened before or after you left but," she waved her hands, rolling her eyes. Talking with her hands was a trait passed down through her family. "They're official. Yay. Uh, Lilith the Oracle woke up finally. She's leaving the infirmary soon. Chiron still doesn't know I have a phone. I had a big talk with Birch. That's pretty much it." She shrugged at her friend through the Iris-message, her initial fullness and joy turning into a pit in her stomach.

"I don't want them to think I'm a furry," Dahlia mumbled, her cheeks red and her eyes wide. It didn't take her long to recover, though; it wasn't like this hadn't happened before. Having to remember to cover yourself in Mist before going out to any public place was hard. Besides, Elle didn't seem to be embarrassed to be seen with the goat girl, and that was what really mattered. She looked up at the waitress almost apologetically. "Can I have... you still do pancakes at this time, right?"
Ginger raised an eyebrow. "Yes, we do," she said, a little condescendingly. She was avoiding looking at Dahlia, mostly returning Elle's glances or staring down at their menus.
"Oh. Okay. I'll have pancakes. And maybe coffee, too?" Dahlia knew she shouldn't have coffee; it was bad for her, it made her jittery, she drank too much of it. But an addiction was an addiction. She handed the waitress the menus and watched as she made her escape to the kitchen, preventing looking back at Elle for as long as possible. This was the point where things got awkward, and she didn't was rusty enough with conversation to not make it awkward.
She decided to just take a leap of faith and ask something she'd been wondering for a while. "Er, it's totally fine if you don't want to tell me, but you're...." she waved a hand. "Irish. From Ireland. How did you end up in a camp in New York? Does Europe not have any places like Camp Half Blood?"

(When are Brook and Jo gonna get married tho. levi who?)
"... Thanks." Jonah said, gaze trained on the cup and not Beckett. He took it in both hands and blew on the cup to get it to cool down, muttering in a tired tone, "And same. I don't know. I think tonight was rough for a lot of us." he remembered his late-night encounter with Dahlia and hoped she was faring better.

"Jasmine's fine. It's tea. That's all that matters. Gods, I miss tea." Bry smiled, inhaling the steam, and closing her eyes. She took a sip. "Just like Abigail used to make back home, don't you remember?"
"Anyways. This has been an interesting.. week, or whatever. On this quest. And we're heading to Las Vegas, right? What do you think we'll run across there?"

Bec moved off to the side with his own cup of tea, taking a sip of his drink as he stood there. He merely shrugged at Bryony comment about Abigail, still not wanting to talk about England, especially outloud.
He watched Bry as she asked what would be over to Las Vegas, not really knowing much of US geography. He didn't have anything to add to the discussion, so he didn't try.

Elle turned to Ginger and quietly placed her order (waffles and a hamburger) before she could walk away, letting out a huff as her stomach rumbled once more. She groaned and laid her head on the table, not moving for a couple minutes. It was only when she was addressed by Dahlia that she realized gods, she was trying to make small talk.
She slowly peeled her forehead from the table, a red mark faintly visible. "Yes I'm Irish." She shrugged, glancing out the window at the dreary plaza. "With Mount Olympus being centered in New York City, there's kind of no focus on Europe whatsoever. Everything is in America. My mother thought it would be better if we came to America so that I could go to camp and be trained how to not burn the house down." She rolled her eyes. "Her plan backfired, we were chased for months by a monster, finally ended up at Camp Half-Blood with no where else to go." She waved her hand dismissively, as the waitress came back over with the drinks. The attractiveness she had displayed was gone as she didn't even give Elle a second glance. The red-haired girl frowned, scoffing. With a distant pull of pity, she realized the coldness was because of Dahlia. A faint urge to protect the girl swarmed her but she pushed it away for now.
"What about you?" She decided to play along with the small talk, casting her glance down at the marshmallows floating in her hot chocolate. "Were you born here?"
