I was reading The Fourth Apprentice awhile ago and noticed this exchange: Consider: - Poppyfrost is heavily pregnant
- She's alone with Jayfeather, a tom medicine cat (at the Moonpool, no less)
- When Breezepelt walks up, she's standing very close to Jayfeather
So... combining that with his comment... am I being farfetched in thinking that Breezepelt was thinking Poppyfrost was pregnant with Jayfeather's kits? (It seems as though he didn't hear much of their conversation before making himself known, after all.)

I doubt it since Poppyfrost literally mentions Berrynose and how she wants to apologize for 'taking him from Honeyfern'. That should be clue enough for Breezepelt. And he would have had to hear her say that to make that comment about another dilemma in ThunderClan. Why else would he assume this?
Unless of course he heard literally nothing and was simply assuming. That seems like something Breezepelt would do...

Agreed with Rainshadow ^^
Don't you just hate it when you're having a conversation with someone and a random person walks up, mishears your last sentence, and asks to repeat it? Example:
Me:I love Warriors, but I think Firestar is a little overrated. Friend:Yeah. I think Bramblestar is a much better leader. Random Guy:What? Cars have better feelers? What are you two TALKNG about????
*sigh* that's my pet peeve, and I can so see Breezepelt being that guy.

OP here, agreeing with you both. I was under the impression that Breezepelt really hadn't heard much of their conversation before making his appearance and misinterpreted the scene in front of him.
And yes, тαѕℓєкισ, he would be that guy.

I just finished Fourth Apprentice. I was really confused about that scene as well. I believe there is definitely implications around Jayfeather being involved with another cat due to misinterpretations. If Breezepelt heard "medicine cats can't-" and saw a pregnant cat... He'd assume whatever is convenient.

I think Breezepelt was probably just being suggestive to aggravate Jayfeather instead of really misinterpreting the scene. That would fit with his character to take a stab at Jayfeather in that way
