Leafpool used to be my favorite character. I still like her but ever since the whole Crowfeather thing, I am not as fond of her anymore. She was a great apprentice, everything that a medicine cat had to be: patient, polite, and caring for her Clanmates, willing to heal, no matter what the cost is. She had to go through with her sister leaving ThunderClan to losing her home, and then she found the Moonpool.
But all went downhill when she met Crowfeather.
They were cute, and they did have some history, for a forbidden couple. At first it was shown that Leafpool didn't like him until she felt sorry for him. Then Crowfeather saves her life, and confesses his love for her.
But what bothers me about this couple is how Leafpool ran away. This couple wasn't even needed, but was simply there for drama or to give Leafpool more of a story in her life. The Three were supposed to be born anyway - they didn't need Leafpool and she would have been fine with her life living with Crowfeather. Leafpool did come back and she seems to still blame herself for Cinderpelt's death. I don't like how she yelled at Cinderpelt because it was very disrespectful, and I also don't like how she thought of herself rather than her own Clan, which is very selfish. She knew that she wasn't supposed to fall in love, but she let her feelings get the best of herself anyway. She ran away, affecting everyone who loved her, causing a lot of grief and worry. She came back, though, and in the end, she lost everything when the truth came out.
She lied to her kits. She dragged Squirrelflight into her problems. The Three hated her and Squirrelflight for a very long time. Squirrelflight lost a lot because Leafpool dragged her into her problems when she should have faced the consequences.
I don't like how cats got into her own problems, when she was the one who caused them herself. But I do admire how she still loved her kits, no matter what she lost.
Leafpool tried to comfort Jayfeather when Lionblaze and Dovepaw left on the journey.
She comforted Lionblaze when he was upset about Cinderheart leaving him.
She still used her medicine cat skills even though she couldn't be one anymore. She always fulfilled Jayfeather's spot when he left for the Tribe.
She eventually became stronger, often being the first to point out prey and even being more confident in patrols.
Leafpool just had to get used to what she's done, and in the end, everyone for forgive her.
I still like Leafpool because of how she supported her kits, no matter how often they rejected her. No matter how depressed she was, she never stopped loving the Three. She could have chosen to no longer care for them after they rejected her. But she didn't. The Three even began to respect her in the end.
So to end this, Leafpool is okay. I still like her, but the forbidden romance wasn't necessary. However, my problem is that she's still around even though her story is over. As much as I like her, Leafpool needs to go, because her story is over.
