The Dragon Rider's Guild---- Welcome ---- No matter your past, race, or occupation, the guild will accept you and help you. The founders of the guild wanted everyone to be able to come and ask for help. They wanted the riders to lead people into a new era of peace. It was rough and the world is still now peaceful, not in the least. Riders are still being called to settle disputes between towns, help with a border spat, and sometimes even to help a town get rid of a nasty predator. Admittedly, it could be worse. It seems like the world is in an unsteady truce with only small fights.
However, danger will soon come to these riders as their friends start to disappear. The test of loyalty shall start to strain the guild to its limit. They will have to decided whether to try to continue with their founder's mission or to turn their backs and fight for their homelands.
---- Rules ----Can't be all fun and games.
1) Follow the forum rules. 2) Please make characters with the lore in mind. I know it is a lot to read, but just make sure you know about the basics. Also don't make perfect characters. I think we all know this but still, just don't. 3) Read the lore. 4) Don't overpower your character and be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of your character. 5) Nothing over PG-13 please. I worked hard on this thread and don't want it to be deleted. 6) How much to type? How much can you type? I'm not saying you should type only a sentence, but just go with what your comfortable with. Don't stuff with fluff. 7) Check up on the News post before you join. I might post restrictions if we have too many of a rank.

** For dwarves and elves, who have a longer life span, take away one zero, ex. 170 years means looks 17 without glamour. Dwarves have a typical lifespan of 700 years and Elves have a typical lifespan of 900 years. Dragons grow as quickly as humans but live much longer. Humans live up to 100 years while dragons live until killed.
---- News -------- Plot ----Main Riders are starting to disappear. Strange thing is, they don't just disappear while on a mission. They disappear when they are at the guild. This is starting to worry the higher ups and they are trying to hide these events.
More will be added as the plot progresses.
Side, aka quests There isn't even a scrap of paper up on the quest board. There are nails embedded into the wood, so there must have been something, right?
Feel free to come up with one or two.
Lore---- Humanoids ---- You open this book to find a small blurb in the prologue. Great! Now you don’t have to read the whole book.
Humans
Humans come in all shapes and sizes. All different colors as well. There seems to be no end to them. As for their nature, they are known to be the bringers of chaos and ofte band together with their own kind. They may have different personalities, but, at the core, they always seem to bring destruction. After all, their magic is mostly offensive and destructive. The elves hate them and the dwarves stand them.
They currently have no ruler. Instead, they follow the lead family in their groups. A group consists of five families along with the lead, a total of six. Zavi does have a mayor, Mayor Aston. Though the man is aged, his mind is as sharp as a dagger. Not many can read him.
Dwarves
They are normally short in stature but solid. Darker hair is common but lighter hair is not unheard of. They are surprisingly well-kept and very proud. Never say a dwarf can’t do something. They will try to prove you wrong. They are dedicated and with the strength of mind that not many possess. Their magic is commonly defensive, usually using rocks, or some sort of heat magic. The dwarves seem to have no outwards hostility towards the other races though some comments about the elves and humans being weak and ‘leggy’ are common terms.
They have one ruler who sits on the throne. It is usually someone who has proven themselves through a battle or some seemingly impossible task. It usually includes leadership. Queen Kaya sits on the throne. She led a battle against a traitorous necromancer, who had killed the last king. Using her own magic, she managed to block the mage's spell long enough to deliver the final blow. her hair was turned white as the result of the long time exposure to the spell.
Elves
Elves are surprisingly similar to humans. Sure, they are normally more lean and somewhat taller, but they could easily be mistaken for a tall human. The real thing that sets them apart is their eyes and ears. Elves have cat like pupils, which help them see in the dark, and also long, pointed ears, which help them...look different. No one really knows where the pointy ears came from. Their looks, especially the face, tends to be very beautiful and lovely, though this is commonly the work of ‘glamours’. Elves are talented in nature and illusion magic. They seem to have a stronger connection to magic than the rest. Like the rest of the races, they tend to be proud. Though they are often secretive and unwelcoming, especially to humans.
Both the Southern and Northern elves have leaders in their communities. They use to be under one leader but that one died in the Great war and they never needed another. Instead they have the 'Zaeim', which is their leader. The Zaeim for the Southern elves is Ghaba. He is old enough to have seen the war and fought in it. If in-glamoured, you would see burn marks covering his hands, feet, and legs. The Northern Elves have one for each town. Kam, Wahid, is a younger elf, only a couple hundred years old and is known for being young and inexperienced. Mughlaq, Thlath, is cold to outsiders that are not elves. He barely lets dragon riders step foot in his town. Khayin, Athnan, is welcoming to the riders and normally quite reasonable.
---- Dragons ----You find this note tucked in a book. Perhaps it is one of the dragon keeper’s notes. Whoever it was wrote in fast scribbles and commonly crossed out their work. This was horrendous! You could barely make out the writing. Though whoever wrote it must have loved eastern dragons. Large arrows point to the Eastern and scribbled to the side is the word, ‘classic’.
Wyvern
The largest dragon of all. They have powerful jaws and even more powerful legs, though they only have two. Horns are uncommon; large horns are extremely uncommon. Found in the mountains. Most common colors are shades of brown or shades or green. They are not the most talented flying wise, but they can hold their own in a fight. Rideable.
Eastern
Most common and second biggest. They are the most versatile, able to fight with most of their body. Their tails are barbed, their spine is spiked, they are horns, sharp teeth, and large claws. Their only weakness if their wings. While large and magnificent, they are easily injured and the most open. Mostly red, green, black, or gold, but with dragons, who knows. Rideable.
Amphipthere
As long as the eastern but less height due to the lack of legs. It is very feathery with a frill around its head, wings made of feathers and a feathery tail. It’s pupils are narrowed, much like a snake. Not having the common features of a dragon, it mainly uses its magic and constriction to kill its prey. This type seems to exclusively be colored green. It’s feathers are golden tipped and often seem to shimmer. Rideable when flying.
Asian Lung (Lung for short)
As long as the Eastern but still shorter. This one has legs, four, but they are short. Imperial Lungs have five toes and others have four or three. It is extremely rare to find and bond with an Imperial. They are first, rare, and second, even more proper than the other variants. All Lungs seem to like etiquette and order as you must talk respectfully to them. They have small but stag-like horns and a feathery tail. Very feathery along the face as well, and the Imperial ones have feathers on their legs. They also have these long whiskers on their face. It is supposedly to feel the current and the water around them. They also have very large scales and puppy dog eyes. They can somehow fly, but they normally don’t and instead hang out in the water. They don't have any abilities to deal with fire and instead normally deal with water. Rideable when flying.
Knucker
Normally the smallest and much thinner than the others. It has wings, but they are simply too small to fly. Instead of scales, these guys have a leathery skin that is normally tones of the earth and uncommonly a greenish blue. They don’t breath fire, they instead have dangerous venom, kill in minutes, and are very good at constriction. They love damp, woody areas. They also love shiny things and are tricky beasts so they normally get what they want. Not rideable.
Lindworm
They are long and thin, but normally shorter than most dragons. Though they lack two back feet, this dragon is very swift and can normally beat any other dragon in a leg race. However, they lacks wings and cannot fly. The only option for fighting is constriction or claws. It comes in many shades and colors, though bright ones are uncommon. It sticks with groups in grasslands. Eats silk, so no nice shirts! Not rideable.
Hybrids
I would like if you asked me about a hybrid before you post. Please be aware that you must take the good and the bad. If you have a Lindworm/Eastern cross, be aware that it will not be as fast as Pure Lindworms and not as strong as Easterns.
---- Bonds ----You groan. The dragon keeper went other this topic five times yesterday. Her words still echo in your mind. You quickly snap the book shut and move on.
A bond between a dragon and a humanoid doesn’t magically appear. It slowly forms as the trust between the two grow. You might wonder how you should choose the correct dragon. The answer is simple. You don't. A dragon keeper will give you food and send you off to wander through the dragon pastures. You must wait for a dragon to approach you, but you are allowed to walk around. Sometimes no dragons take a liking to you. It could be because there are none in the pasture that want you or you two just missed each other.
As your bond grows, you may be able to share thoughts and feelings with either other. Usually it is the latter first then the thoughts. Some are able to see though each others eyes. You two can also support each other by sharing energy or magic. The stronger the bond is, the more you can share.
---- Map ----You spot a large map on a table. It was brown around the edges and smelled stale. Judging by the various notes tacked onto the map and the coloring, it was old. You read the small note, hoping for something interesting.
The Guild / an old fort for the guild
The guild is protected by four stone walls and a large gate. The gate is troublesome to close so it doesn't normally shut at night. When entering through the gate, a person will end up in a courtyard. People are training by sparing or using magic to the left, and the rest of the space is dotted with people are hanging out. The building next to the people sparing is the mess hall and the meeting room. Smoke slowly comes out of the window. There don't seem to be any meal times as people can be seen eating whenever. To the right is a large building that is where people sleep. It is made up of a mix of stone and wood. Everyone gets one small room that comes with a bed and side table. In front of you is a stone tower. It is not the skinny bean pole towers but the one of the larger ones. You spot a board with the words News outside the tower but don't stop. You open the doors to find a library. There was plenty of empty sheaves but a man was filling them. You look up to see three levels above you. The second one seems to have small tables or chairs. The top one is not visible, but you can see a ladder. You remember the birds circling the tower. The top floor must be the message room.
Asteria / As-ter-ea / Elf Lands
The Elf kingdom has long since split up. One half lies in the large forest to the South and the other lies in the north, past the mountains.
The southern forest is mystical. The trees are larger than normal trees, which makes sense considering the elves normally nurture the saplings so they can grow this way. You would think the large leaves and thick branches covering the sun would prevent other life from growing but this is not the case. Small bushes, mosses, ferns, and wildflowers grow between the large roots and even in the open. Due to the elves' small population, they only have one area they gather. They called it Maladh, meaning haven. It is a small collection of large oak trees. Their homes are really inside the trees. Much like buildings with multiple floors, the trees work similarly. The trees have been hollowed out so that there are floors. One floor is for one family. There are round openings to the levels. Stairs spiral around the tree so everyone can reach the floors.
The second half is in a semi-arid desert. The soil is not pure sand but mostly rocks, and coarse sand to fill in the cracks. Only low lying shrubs, small trees, and sparse flowers grow in the open. However, near the river, life returns. The soil becomes soft and brown again. Plants, like reeds and cattails, grow near the bank. Fish swim in the water. The elves have built homes out of mud and brick. Most of the homes are small homes, meant for two elves and maybe a child. They have a small front yard with a brick wall and wooden gate. Usually the family goat and maybe a couple chickens stay in the front yard.
Cities of note; The three towns, Wahid, Athnan, and Thlath, are very similar and have several families living together. Though they are not big enough to be called a city.
Morden / More-den / Human Lands
The human kingdom is nestled in between all the kingdoms Their towns and great cities are mostly gone, either burned down or now just chunks of stone littering the ground. They no longer have many cities or towns. After the Great War, groups split up and travel together. Each family has one round tent. The tents are easily moveable and moderately easy to replace. Leadership is passed down to the most capable. These people mainly deal with livestock.
Cities of note; Zavi is the only real human city left. Most of the homes are made out of a combination of wood, stone, and dirt. The only building not made out of dirt, is the town office. It is almost all stone with only a couple of wooden supports. Zavi contains mostly fishers, though a couple of craftsmen and farmers live here as well. It draws all kinds of people as the fish is profitable even in the winter.
Klaustier / K-la-ss-ter / Dwarven Lands
Dwarfs live nestled in the mountains. They mostly stay clumped together on one side of a mountain. They don’t live in the mountain completely. Their homes are built into mountain with windows and entrances outside. Each large mountain city is split into three levels: the bottom, the middle, and the top. At the bottom is the merchant's stores that double as their homes. They sit at the bottom so the carts carrying merchandise from mines or from trading don’t have to travel far up the mountain. The second layer is for the soldiers, farmers, or mine workers, so they are still close to the ground. The top layer is for the royalty and elders. Since the royalty is not at all cities at once, the elders will offer guidance and make decides for the city in their absence.
Cities of note; Valun is their largest city and where the royalty spend most of their time. It is where the dwarves mine the most metals. Though this is deeper into the mountains than most will go for trading. Rynok is basically the largest market in the area. It is where everyone, excluding the forest elves, sells their crafts. Normally, it is only dwarves selling their wares, but human and elf merchants will also set up shop. Not many know of Ferma. It is a simple farming city. They grow various crops as well as a couple of goats. It is a rather precious city because the bulk of the dwarven crops come from this city.
---- History ----Your interested was peaked. What do these people think happened? History was always so muddled. You could never seem to find two people who said the same thing.
The Great War
About 400 years back, the humans wanted to expand. Their towns were starting to grow and flourish. They had started to build stone structures, but they still needed wood. They turned to the elves’ forests, which were much greater in size. Not knowing much about elves, except for the small, uncommon sightings, they didn’t think they were crossing on someone’s land. The elves, who had known about the humans, were rightfully angry, though acted rashly. They attacked the humans, killing one and scaring the rest. It is never clear if they meant to kill that one human, but that is what sparked the war. It started small but grew as the other humans and elves joined in. The fighting lasted for two years before disaster struck. Human magic, being wild and destructive by nature, set the forest on fire along with their own land. Some say it was a Lung, others claim rain, and some say it the elves’ magic, but something put out the fire. However, the damage was done. Over half the forest was gone and most of the human towns were burned to the ground. The elves, now without a home and tired of fighting, either retreated deeper into the forest or were chased to the North.
Coming of the Dragons
As far back as we know, the races had been living separately. They didn’t mingle together or even see much of each other before the great War. Dragons were actually unheard of. It was actually during the Great War that these dragons made their appearance. Historians from each race say something different about the coming of the dragons. Dwarves claim it was in celebration of their new, and current, queen taking the throne. They say the rock shook beneath their feet as Queen Kaya sat on the throne and then dragons first took to the sky. Humans claim it was the magic brought by the elves. They actually didn’t believe they were real until, right in front of his army, a general’s head was bitten off by a dragon. Elves claim their gods worked together to create the dragons so the elves would be safe from humans. Not that dragons care much for either race. If you ask a dragon where they came from, they would say an egg. But who knows which one is true?
Founding of the Guild
Dragon riders began to appear. No one is sure who exactly was the first. This wasn't the matter of contradicting views. The first dragon riders just didn't know the date they bonded with their dragons. Yes, maybe they should have know as this was an event that changed their lives, but it was after a war and no one was exactly bothering to keep a date at the moment. The word started to spread like wildfire. The war was still fresh in their minds and people were grabbing for this new power. Of course, this turned out to be quite painful for both the dragons and the would-be tamers. both parties suffered many deaths until the dragon riders finally decided to meet. It took weeks but they finally settled. They would throw off their bonds to their people and go train somewhere else. They saw it as the only way to insure total war would not come again. They took up an abandoned fort and started to clean it out. People flocked to them. Surprisingly, some dragons did as well. The guild quickly made it their goal to help the people recover from the war and help train young riders.
The Guild's Members---- Ranks---- Leader - One who decides if the council is split
Council - trusted members who decide what to do if crisis strikes. Ask before
Crafters - Members who can create weapons and armor for the rider and dragon.
Healers - members who normally can’t venture out anymore and are talented in healing.
Dragon Keepers - members who take care of dragons and tame them.
Questors - Split up into junior and full-fledged members. They are the ones who go out and settle things.
Dragons - Normally stay in the pens and pastures but can stay in their rider’s room if it is big enough.
Outsiders Humanoids - A non-guild member
Dragons - A non-guild member
---- Members ----Guild Leader Malen / 340 years / Dwarf Malen is tall for a dwarf, about 4'2", but she is still burly and stout. She is not the lady you want to arm wrestle, unless you like loosing. Her hair is a dark, deep red and is normally put into a bun or ponytail. She has a very friendly face with round cheeks and a bright smile. Her face has freckles streaked across it and she has round, chocolate brown eyes. Her nose is a bit big but nothing out of the ordinary, especially for a dwarf. / Malen was chosen for her work ethic, not her people skills. Not that she has terrible people skills. She is just very bad at hiding her emotions and tends to get a little overdramatic. She is pretty vulgar and livid when worked up. She can also get...loud. She can be a bit strict and harsh. Though no one can say she looses her focus. When she wants to get something done, it gets done. She always sees things through until the very end and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. She is also a rather accomplished fighter, though lacks any real dexterity. She is actually quite clumsy out of the field and will trip over anything. Malen was tending to her goats when Gerel, her future wyvern, tried to steal her goats. She picked up a large rock and literally chucked it at the dragon while screaming. Normally, the dragon would have just roasted the dwarf but Gerel found it amusing this little dwarf would though something so useless as a rock at her, a large dragon who could breath fire. For a couple months, Gerel protected Malen and her goats. That was until the suddenly rockslide. It had trapped Malen in her home and killed off her goats. Gerel actually felt Malen panic and had come to dig the dwarf out. After that, Malen and Gerel decided to seek help from the guild. zero
Council
Crafters
Healers
Dragon keepers Zafer / 176 years / Northern Elf
Questors
Dragons Gerel / 24 years / Wyvern Gerel is an averaged sized Wyvern with nothing out of the ordinary proportion wise. She has the massive wings with the movable, ivory talon at the end. Her scales are a slate grey and the spikes lining her back are a dark black. She does not have horns on her head but her scales seem to be longer and sharper around her head. Her eyes are a bright golden color. / Gerel seems to be the opposite of her dwarf. She is calm and almost never talks. Though she seems to be able to read others and tries to comfort them the best she can. She can be a bit lazy, not terribly but she has gotten in the habit of sleeping the afternoons away. The only thing that fires her up is a fight. She will not hold back.

Thank you! ^^ Ah, yes. The thing I meant to change. My spellcheck couldn't decide if that was the right way to spell it or not.

Okay! Well, I think everything is put together after I type out the guild house description and my characters. If you think it is good, I'm going to post it once I get that done.
