And Avi was no different, but rather than release Blair, he held onto the hunter's collar and dragged him several meters away from the blessed water. The beast's grip tightened around Blair's shirt, not because he thought the hunter would get away, but because the alternative to dealing with the water's stinging was letting him go. "Before I kill you, I'm going to break your hands. They've annoyed me enough for one day." He'd meant it as a sort of twisted joke, but the only idea actually wasn't so bad. Blair was tricky. Maybe it would keep him from surprising Avi again.

She nodded absently, she was disoriented and was vaguely aware of what he was talking about, she heard the words bramble, key and hang tight. Other than that she was clueless.

Blair pulled against the beasts grip, the ringing in his ears drowning out most of his words. He would have abandoned the coat if the bag on his back didn't keep his arms stuck in the sleeves. He should have dropped it before the fight. One of his hands tried to reach for the quiver on his belt, looking for another arrow to swing. The other swung upward though without proper force or aim to do any real harm.
----
Mika walked back toward the house as quickly as he was able to without getting tripped up in the undergrowth. He led the stranger around the house up to the front porch, where he carefully helped her sit down. He returned to the side of the house outside the backyard fence and opened his wings again, flying the few feet over the fence to the other side. He dropped down and went back into the house through the back door. He stopped only to go into the bathroom and pull a first aid kit out from under the sink, then he was back in motion on his way to the front door.

(I don't know how you balance adulthood and the forums, tbh 😂)
Struck again—though the attempt was so weak he hardly cared—Avi caught the hunter's comparatively dainty hand in his, ready to crush the fragile bones. Humans were an incredibly poorly built species. Blair might have been braver than the others, but he couldn't help being breakable.

(Well, it's not super easy, but it works out. My life feels full right now, but in a good way.)
Blair felt the leather of the quiver, but the arrows had been scattered in the scuffle. His hand grabbed about in the snow until his fingers curled around the wooden stem of one of the dropped arrows. He turned it around in his hand, swinging it up to try to hit the beast in the side. He needed to get himself free of both the beast's hands now. He needed to find an answer to improve the situation and give him a fighting chance.

(Ugh, I'm so sorry. I totally forgot to reply)
Avi, abandoning his prior task, tore the quiver and remaining arrows off Blair and pitched them as far into the falling darkness as he could. If he hadn't been wounded and tired, they would have landed in the branches of some distant pine, but he had to settle for the equipment being lost in the snow until spring. Anything to end the fight. Leaning in a little closer to the hunter, Avi took in the metallic scent of blood. "If you'll stop fighting, I'll make this quick. How does that sound?"

Nymiria leaned against the frame completely relaxed, she felt cold but could feel the warmth of the cabin. When she noticed him come out she smiled and moved her wing out of the way. "T-thank-s I Nymiria." She said breathlessly, she had a small smile.

At such close proximity, Blair locked eyes with the beast and gave a glare. A weak glare, but still it was hard to mistake for anything else. "If I'm still breathing, there's still a chance. I won't give up as long as there's a chance." He snapped, unable to keep a dumb smile from forming on his face. "I'm not scared of anything you can do." He tried again to shake himself loose, though his movements were growing more tired and less effective. He brought his knee up in attempt to wind the beast, but again, he was quickly losing strength.
---
"Okay, Nymiria, how long ago were you shot?" Mika asked. Considering her wings weren't hurt, he could try to patch her up enough to get her to a doctor. He'd learned from experience that there were plenty of questions he didn't actually have to answer when the doctors asked. Still, it might leave a paper trail if someone decided to look there for her.

"M-mid afternoon, they got me flying away they must have been aiming for my wing..." She said thinking back to the quick escape from her temporary home in the desert. She already missed the dry heat compared to the damp cold forest.

(Omg sorry I always read it and then forget to reply when I have time)
It was time now for Avi to recognize his victory against the hunter. He was curious about the fellow, though. Uncharacterically determined for a human. Tail still lashing, the demon asked, "Who are you, hunter?" Normally he didn't care to ask. It only made killing his victims more difficult, but Avi had to know more about Blair. "Why do you wish to kill me?"

(It's all good, I've been working on a commission all day)
"My name doesn't matter." Blair replied flatly, deciding to humor the beast at least a little to try to stall for time. He needed to take all he could to regain whatever strength he could. The ringing in his ears was slowly dying away, but the pain in his head didn't stop. "I'm here for the people you hurt today. I came here to make sure that doesn't happen again. Whether it was intentional or not... it can't happen again."
--
Mika gave a small nod at her comment and he tried to think. She probably needed some sort of medicine if she'd had an open wound for that long. He'd look into it once he had the chance. For now, she needed the injury covered. He helped her over to the couch and let her sit down before he went into the kitchen, pulling a small bottle of orange juice and a box of crackers out of the fridge and cupboard. He walked back over and passed them to her. "Snack on these and I'll get you patched up." He said. "Did the bullet stay in the wound or clear through?"

"So if I kill you," the beast asked, tail twitching thoughtfully, "Does that mean another hunter will replace you? And if I don't kill you, you won't stop trying to kill me." Now that he had time to think about it, Avi faced quite the dilemma. He didn't want to die, but he also didn't want to kill Blair. Oddly enough, this man was the closest thing he'd had to a friend in a long time. If it were anyone else, he would have taken their life in a heartbeat. "Then this must be goodbye, hunter."

"It's likely another will follow your trail when I don't come back." Blair admitted. "Someone who plans their attack a bit better. We don't bother beasts who don't take lives, but with what you've done, they might send more than one." He said, his breathing starting to turn even again. Even if he could feel some strength returning to his muscles, he was tired and sore. He wasn't sure he could keep fighting longer even if he did get free.

(How soon do you want the fight to end?)
"Then I will leave," said the beast. He didn't know how, but he would—and Avi thought he meant that. The forest was cursed. Very few could escape once they set foot there. Of course it never occurred to Avi that he and the curse may have shared a name.

(Any point is good at this point.)
Blair gave a small shake of his head. "They'll find you sooner or later, if I don't first." He replied. Even if he did recover, he wasn't going to give up. He couldn't let the beast hurt anyone else. No words could deter him. The beast couldn't promise to stay away from people, he'd already said so himself. He couldn't promise to control himself either, since the disaster this morning wouldn't have happened if he could.

X3 well, the original plot states that the beast has an issue with another beast, and wants payback for being wronged. They're meant to use the hunter to improve chances of getting back at the other beast.)

"I want to make a deal," said the beast suddenly. A compromise. There was something he'd never thought of before. "There is another...what did you call me? 'Beast'? Another beast in the forest. Worse than I am." Even speaking in low tones, Avi's deep voice carried far beyond their conversation. He knew the scent of blood might draw the other near. "A tyrant. Help me defeat him, and I will spare your life."

"What makes you think I'd be of use?" Blair asked, his own voice growing quiet as his exhaustion caught up. The wound on his head still burned and he pulled one hand upward, trying to pack some snow to his skin to numb it, maybe slow the bleeding too. "And even if we win, why would I just let you walk away? You've still done wrong." He gave a small push, trying to sit himself up.

"I can't beat him on my own. I've tried before," Avi replied, dropping his gaze. "But with your help, I may stand a chance. You are a worthy opponent." And now he had to think of something to give the hunter in return. Blair was right; there was no sense in making this agreement if the beast were to simply walk away. Then it hit him. "You can kill me after he is dead. We wouldn't defeat him in my own interest, anyway. He's a plague on this forest."

Blair narrowed his eyes a bit. He didn't quite trust this deal, or the beast offering it to him. "What sort of creature is he?" Blair asked slowly. He couldn't believe everything he said, but he could at least try to pick off some information. He didn't see why he couldn't contact other hunters and lead a group effort against a particularly dangerous creature, given he had to survive this situation first.

"Wolf," Avi answered. "What you would call a werewolf. And it isn't just him—it's the entire pack. They follow blindly. Like sheep. If we could defeat him, though, the rest would crumble. Choose wisely, hunter: certain death or uncertain death? At least you would die on your feet." In Avi's mind, the agreement made perfect sense. He'd never known anything but conflict over power. Peace was a foreign concept.

"Clear through..." She said through eating the crackers, she hadn't realized she was so hungry but now with the bland crackers she felt the gnawing of her empty stomach. She took a sip out of the Orange juice and sighed, "Thank you again... I know it must be weird having an injured winged girl to fall out of the sky and beg for help but I really am grateful."

"A regular werewolf?" Blair frowned. Sure, a pack was a problem, but he'd taken out solitary wolves before. Their allergy to silver really made things easier with the correct preparations. He'd always known werewolves to be pretty good about living in the wilds without seeking out humans. Granted, there were the few who found trouble and that's where he came in, but still. What made this wolf so bad? "I can, but I'd need a bit to recover." He answered.
---
"Eh, not the strangest thing to come out of those woods." Mika replied, the corner of his mouth upturned in a joking smile. "Just sit tight and I'll do what I can. I know a clinic where it won't be hard to get help if you need it." He offered, turning his attention to the injury on her leg. So there were two points that needed to be cleaned and patched if the bullet went straight through... He took the disinfectant out of the kit and he sprayed it carefully near the wound.

"Shake hands first. Then you can go," Avi said, extending one massive hand to meet Blair's. He'd never done this before, made an agreement, and he'd only watched humans shake hands before. Avi didn't know how tightly to hold the other person's, so he had to guess—and he guessed a little too firmly.

Blair made a face at that. "What for? It doesn't mean anything." He asked, trying to push his weight on his palms to list himself into a sitting position. He wanted to try to get himself off the ground, hoping he might feel less dizzy. It was a bit of a stretch considering the wound to his head had already taken quite a toll on him. He didn't want to feel like this out here. He couldn't afford to pass out, no matter whether the beast was hostile or not.
