In a completely unexpected twist of events, I'm looking for a roleplay partner - yet for the first time, I'm doing it in the board that is actually supposed to be used for 1x1 search threads! Lmao. Ah, yeah, as the title says - I'm looking for a long-term roleplay partner, preferably someone who does not mind me being slow and a little spotty with roleplay posts [though I can certainly chat], and so on. I do, as you'd expect, I have a few preferences.
- Please be willing to write lengthy posts! I tend to linger around the 500-800 word mark, but I've been pushing myself for around 1k and above [some of my posts, recently, have surpassed the 2k marks - though I won't do that regularly]. While my posts may be slow-ish, I do enjoy writing a fair amount of material, and I'd enjoy someone to be able to keep up pace and fill posts with material I can use. I really do enjoy these sorts of roleplays. Novel-length roleplays, I suppose.
- I'm not telling you to be active, but I would like you to be willing to throw down a roleplay post every few weeks. Chat-wise, I'd like you to be around a couple of times a week, y'know? Chatting can bring out so many possibilities, and it will also help us plan ahead or throw out possibilities, get to know each-other better and the works. I like being able to get to know my partners! Two of my longest partners are also close friends of mine, and even if we can be sporadic with replies or even roleplaying together at all, we tend to throw ocs and plot ideas at each-other and they're strong bonds that I've formed! I enjoy it.
- As someone who is LGBTAQ+, I enjoy those characters. I need you to be accepting of that. You don't need to roleplay someone who is a member of the community - hell, do what you want with your original character, but please accept that mine are generally of the community, as that's my strongest point.
- I am not the dictator, I'm not the leader. If you want to roleplay with me, I'd like you to be able to bounce ideas back at me! Talk to me about ideas you'd like to try, tell me about how your oc would react to an idea and whether you like it or not. Communication is essentially what I'm asking for. You don't need to come up with five paragraphs of plot ideas, but some input would be nice, rather than just saying 'yes' or 'no' to what I say. A plot we have is yours as well, not just mine.
- General roleplay etiquette would be nice - you get the gist. My character is not to be controlled by yours, vice versa, you are not the center of attention and neither am I - the list goes on.
- Please be willing to roleplay minor/side characters. It makes it so much easier to roleplay, and while we may only have one or two mains, having sides enhances the depth of the roleplay!
- I am willing to do mature topics if they're handled well. If there is any sexual content or the like, they will be strictly done with someone who is 18+ and via PMs [if we aren't already there]. I'm laying this down as law. Not 18? Not interested in that. I'll do any other sort of roleplay, but not that.
- Note;; if we do a fandom-based roleplay, I do not do canon characters. This is how I roll. Original characters have always been my forte.
With the scary part now over, if you've skipped over it...I don't mind? I guess it was a lot to read, but it could be hard to understand the general gist of what I'm going for. TL;DR: I want someone who'll talk to me & not pester me to reply to a roleplay, who's willing to be flexible and workable with plot ideas and characters. Yep!
Interests;;
- Supernatural [as a genre] - werewolves, vampires, that sort of gist. Heavily dependent on plot.
- Slice-of-life - generally adults, preferably mid-twenties and up but can be college. Very rarely will I embrace a high school plot.
- Fantastical - faeries, mainly, with merfolk and general fantasy elements. Dragons are also a huge bonus. Modern dragons is even better!
- Historical - the Ancient Greek scene is my main, with some Victorian aspects. I will not generally do Wars; perhaps after or before, but never during.
- Wolf Children - the movie was so warming to me, and I've recently been fairly interested in seeing how a roleplay based from it would work.
- All For The Game - my favourite book series. I might have some vague plots on this, actually!
- The Raven Cycle - not sure how this would work as a roleplay plot, but they didn't build Rome in a day, and so perhaps we could think of something!
- Skulduggery Pleasant - another favourite book series. Something based from this would probably make my day.
- Shadowhunters - the books, more than the tv show. Never the movie. There are many plot ideas around this.
- Hunter x Hunter - oh man, something I haven't thought about for a while but have had muse for for a long time. Vague plots, again, but better than nothing.
- Gentleman Bastard Sequence - a wonderful book series, something based from this could have a lot of potential!
- Bully - this game probably made me into the person I am today. It is a high school thing so I'm dodgy with it, but again...huge potential!
- Pokemon - I do not have any plot ideas around this, but...it's one of my favourite games, so possibilities! I've read part of PokeSpe, but I'm not through it.
- A Song of Fire and Ice / Game of Thrones - full potential, not done with the series. I'm on book two. I apologise!
- Stardew Valley - not sure how it would work (slice-of-life/fantasical?) but I love the game, so throwing the possibility out there!
- Musicals - I'm into a huge variety. Heathers, Hamilton [would not roleplay this, however - song plots based from the songs? Yeah], Cats, and so forth.
- How To Get Away With Murder - self-explanatory, awesome concept, totally could do a roleplay based from it.
- ...and more! Feel free to suggest something, even if you don't see it here.

If you're still looking for someone/willing to get more than one partner from this thread, I'm interested. I'm unfamiliar with quite a few of the interests you listed (though I do I have the raven cycle sitting on my shelf, I have yet to get to it), but those that I am familiar with could be quite interesting.

i'm alive!! ahhh!!!
I'm willing to do quite a lot of plots- many of those interest me- but is there anything you're particularly wanting to roleplay? Even though it's not really up there, I'm weak to rps involving some form of time travel / temporal aspect.

i apologise to both of you for responding so late! i went to doze & i didn't wake up until now.
@ sparkyflames: absolutely! i am 100% okay with getting more than one partner from this thread. i was expecting a fair amount to be unrecognised what do you recognise & what are you into?
@ alola: me 2 my dude
all for the game, skulduggery pleasant, hunter x hunter, gentleman bastard sequence & how to get away with murder are pretty filled with muse for me at the moment, but genre-wise, anything!
i used to have a time-jumper plot omg i mean ? honestly i can be p interested depending on plot !

I'm just going to quote your list and add my comments to it, since it's so long. Sorry in advance for how long this post is going to appear.
I'm also into sci-fi as a general genre (especially time and space travel), and series such as Harry Potter, the Grisha triology (which, while not the best series, does have a lot of interesting concepts that could be expanded upon), and Doctor Who.

ooh, a time jumper plot??? honestly that sounds so interesting u dont even knOW i really like the idea of a time travelling community?? like- you're not allowed to change history, not allowed to do all that but there's this whole group of time travelers from any place and time with little hubs and just. so many things could go off of that ahhh!!!
you could basically throw any type of world in with time traveling too, bc honestly if there was time traveling communities theyd prob be super spiteful towards a hp type wizarding community & never reveal it to them haha
uGSHSGH i love time honestly its so great
edit: and honestly im always inspired by the webcomic saint for rent for just always giving me muse for time related stuff haha

@ spark: I've read Harry Potter - depending on plot I might be down to do something with it! Never read the Grisha Trilogy, and I don't actually have much muse for Doctor Who, unfortunately. Sci-fi tends to be a hit or miss subject with me, but I'm open-minded!
Out of the ones you've picked out of my decidedly Pretty Big list, fantastical, how to get away with murder & a song-plot based from a song of hamilton seems pretty good <:
@ alola: if you want, i could dig it out? i think it can get complex in parts but with any sort of luck i may have phrased it decently orz
lmao yeah
ive never read saint for rent but ive had a friend tell me that it's interesting

sure!! i'll give it a look c: it sounds p interesting, if we do something with it. ofc we could end up doing something totally different idk
saint for rent is really cute!! its abt inns for time travelers that can travel to and fro and about one innkeeper called saint and what happens around him sorta and there are all kinds of shenanigans and i want to do fanart so badly lmao hes sUCH a cinnaroll
it would be funny if a hp type wizard ended up time traveling and the time travel community found out in that hating wizards circumstance lol

➻ The trust of the innocent is the liar's most useful tool. 1874, London. Their first meeting is not quite their first meeting, or, at least, it's only their first meeting for one of them. For muse a, it is their first time. For all anyone knows, they are innocent - a bystander. Someone who sits and watches the world go by, and doesn't believe in fate nor the possibility of time jumping. They are a simple citizen in London, someone who has lived there for their entire life. For muse b, however, it is their fourth - or their fifth. Upon recognising muse a, they approach, full of chatter and eager to talk because this is a fellow time jumper. It does not take them long to realise their mistake, for muse a is confused and finds their speech odd and baffling, their clothing foreign, despite the fact that everyone around them thinks it's normal - or doesn't notice muse b, one of the two. Their mistake realised, muse b is quick to leave, and leaves muse a curious.
Time jumping. A rare phenomenon, often passed down in bloodlines. It is only dominant in a sire's genes, but the power is never truly there. Not really. It is a once in...in a million years thing, really. To have two active time jumpers is impossible. It's exciting.
2010, New York City. For muse b, it is their first time. For muse a, it is their tenth, or possibly eleventh. The two have talked, but not this time, because they are meeting different eras of each-other - again. It happens from time to time. It's hard to keep track of another time jumper, and muse a hasn't made a mistake for a long time. This mistake, however, will make or break the past, future, and present. Muse b, in this era, is completely unaware of their time jumping. This means that it was not 'a mysterious stranger' who introduced them to the power, but muse a. It reminds muse a briefly of their first encounter with muse b, and they realise, with some amazement, that fate must play a part in how they met. Their mistakes are so similar. Realising their mistake, muse a is quick to leave, and leaves muse b curious.
Time jumping does not often bring people together, but it appears to be just that - or perhaps reincarnation plays a factor. The two keep missing each-other, meeting each-other out of order. It is with some amazement that they both realise they haven't met the 'present' versions of each-other. Every time they meet, one of them is confused. A conversation cannot be carried when they're drifting through time, but their destinations are unknown even to them. They simply jump and hope. They're used to a lack of control, but it's suddenly frustrating.
➻ The most dangerous liars are the ones who think they're telling the truth. 2016, Chicago. The bar is a quiet, calm place, and muse a has learned that it's very different from their original home. Victorian London, compared to the modern-day (future, to them) Chicago is...well, it's a drastic change. They're learning to fit in, learning to blend in, and they're quite content with their life. They haven't jumped for a year and a half, now, too fearful of messing up their own timeline. They've been many places, seen many people, and yet they are barely aged. They're tired of jumping, tired of meeting a friend out of order and failing to keep their conversations. It might be fate that muse b wanders in from a long night at work, tired and ready to relax. When the two see each-other, they're confused - scared, even. What if this is another time-miss, what if they're meeting each-other out of order again? But they're not. This is it, they've finally aligned their times, and it's...fascinating, for both of them. For the first time ever, they're meeting the "present" versions of each-other, meaning that their own sense of time has stabilised. Their constant passings and their vague conversations have all led up to the moment they meet each-other, and it is a scary thing. Whether they choose to time jump and learn more about the world together or not is up to them - depending on how they feel. Is it worth the risk of losing their stability again?
&& there's extra info;; Both of them are 'time jumpers', which should, by temporal laws and such, be impossible. It clearly isn't, if there's two of them. They've only ever met out of order, and they're both directly responsible for the other learning that they're a time jumper. There are also reincarnations of each-other, but never past their own presents (a is originally from 1874, b is from 2010). They both find a home in 2016, which ends up stabilising their inner temporal conflict. They're possibly immortal; more to be discussed on this depending on ideas. There are multiple ways this roleplay can go. I have two ideas, but I'd love to hear any of yours! Idea A is that there's a third impossible time jumper who wants all time jumpers to be under their control - thus meaning that both muses are in danger. Whether they fight this or not is their main conflict. Naturally, the third time jumper would be the antagonist. Idea B is that the reincarnation side of things is the only thing keeping time stable, and so a temporal collapse begins due to the inability to reincarnate people who've been through all of time/can go through time. Another idea is that they talk about the reincarnations of each-other that they met, talk about the friendships/rivalries/romances or whatever they've had with the other. They need to be aware that their time jumping selves are not a replacement nor a stable idea that the other can have.

i feel you,,, school starts up again on the 3rd for me as well and i'll just be panicked half the time lol
ooh, thats so fascinating omg o;; i have a few ideas as to how it could go and a few ideas that aren't really based off of it at all. ok so;;
- somehow something forces them both to time jump yet again- they end up going together and they get into all kinds of trouble wherever they land
- a person had altered their inner time so that they ended up time jumpers- both of them. they end up someone's test on a human's time unknowingly, and they don't realize this until someone from the future approaches them with some speech on how the test ended up saving the human race in the future or someone altered the past thanks to what happened idk
- not related to the time jumpers, there is no time traveling community but people who guard their ability to walk through time jealously through families. fellow travelers almost never meet, and those who do are usually defensive and guard their individual secrets about the timestream viciously. two individuals who meet not only ignore that usual rule but end up exploring the quirks of the timestream together- different ways to travel, working together with their viewpoints from being born at quite different times and places to reshape time traveling as anyone at that moment knows it even while facing the conflicts of each time they go to together. idk its weird
i have a few more ideas but what do you think about it??? again i rly like your time jumper idea oh gosh

sorry for vanishing - had to make myself a Midnight Dinner because i was hungry
something forcing them to jump was originally what i had in mind, though i wasn't quite sure as to what it would be

Post by ♕ - ᴠɪʀɢɪʟ on Jan 1, 2017 19:56:16 GMT -5
midnight dinners are always a need. i just got done with my own dinner /w fam and had to sit there twenty mins after i finished :/ oh well
hmm, maybe something endangering their lives? a few days after they meet they're prob hanging out to talk and maybe a criminal arrives or there's a terrorist attack / bombing and they jump just before they get seriously hurt? muse a would prob be less used to terrorist attacks even if they jumped, but b sorta grew up knowing abt it bc of recent history
|
|
|
Post by Deleted on Jan 1, 2017 20:20:17 GMT -5
haha damn i have to sit around if i have food w my mum but today i just sorta went to bed again i think
im not at all into the terrorist attack because of recent occurrences, but the criminal thing could be fun.

rip,,, i had to just. watch my family talk while i Died inside
okay!! just an idea uvu sorry,,,, but yeah the criminal idea could be cool- suddenly something happens and they end up time jumping to safety, in a different place & time. the question is, though, when? the far past or future could be interesting, or not too far in the past but different enough for the rp
they prob also picked up a few languages thanks to the time jumps, too,,, most likely not as much writing but communicating in speech bc of the places they've landed sometimes

ahh i forgot to check back
@ alola: me all the time
ahh its okay maybe they're being tracked & they have to jump multiple times to try to shake the person off ? i'm not so sure abt future but like, past things are super fun. esp the far past!!
ya lmao they def did
@ robin: nice !!
out of those i think i'm more into htgawm, but plot ideas are easier for shadowhunters - got is a neutral topic for me! awesome world & concept but im far behind [sweats]
those are good points for me too !!
nice !

htgawm is good !! and yep - having a back-up plan is good
of course it's okay ! i'll shoot you a pm now

ahh sorry, i was afk
ooh, yes!! i'm not that good at the far future but the past would be fun. they could utilize their experience from time hopping and try to fit in there because tbh id guess they can't hop too many times in a certain time frame
honestly one teasing the other with a language the other doesnt know
would you like to pm or nah? personally atm i'm more comfortable not doing pms mostly just because i rediscovered this forum and i'm not comfortable with it yet lmao
|
|
|
Post by Deleted on Jan 1, 2017 23:11:06 GMT -5
so was i lmao
past is fun honestly yeah !! if they meet themselves it would sorta mess with things, yknow?
pms arent required !! so just a separate thread is fine, honestly <:

Post by ♕ - ᴠɪʀɢɪʟ on Jan 1, 2017 23:20:25 GMT -5
save us both honestly
yes, the past is fun!! uwu what point in time would it be, though? that's sort of the issue here bc theres so many places and time points
ahh, alright ^^ that would be wonderful once it's all figured out. also, do you have a certain preference for muse a or b? i've taken a liking to A, but i could rp B just as well or even a bit better just due to the fact that they're a bit more modern.

sorry im still playin games
i mean we could go for smth tame like a medieval period but also....ancient greece got me like
yep yep! i actually have zero preference o:
|
|
|
Post by ♕ - ᴠɪʀɢɪʟ on Jan 2, 2017 1:37:37 GMT -5
dw!! i got invested in reading something lol
hm...you could certainly do ancient greece, and there are definitely possibilities with the vikings, romans, and the various dynasties in chinese history. compared to that, something that's not nearly as far back but could still provide possibilities are the revolution in america as well as that age of europe.
ahhh i cant decide,, ill prob take a?? they def ended up somewhere modernish in their habits to fit in, at least. i wouldnt mind rping them.
|
|
|
Post by Deleted on Jan 2, 2017 1:42:13 GMT -5
its okay
i mean there's also the golden age of piracy, which is fairly evened out. i want to avoid wars because, even if it's realistic for them to accidentally end up there, its one of the things id rather leave alone when roleplaying.
ok!
|
|
|
Post by ♕ - ᴠɪʀɢɪʟ on Jan 2, 2017 1:58:12 GMT -5
c:
piracy sounds interesting but i don't think it would be able to be pulled out in this plot. the most viable options, i'd think, are ancient greek, sometime with the romans, colonial/post-revolution america, europe during that time and.....yeah, i think those are the best options. lmao,,, it's up to you which one, though, since i'm fine with those and will prob read up more on the period that's chosen even though i know all of them a decent amount or so.
|
|

i would prefer ancient greece honestly since i'm more comfortable with that than most other time periods

alright! thats definitely fine with me. is there anywhere or anything particular that they'll go/do after that? you definitely prob have a better idea than me on what they get into.
