Cas felt a bit of burning in his cheeks. It was all but unfamiliar. Embarrassment. Jealousy? He tried to push it down. For so long he'd tried to contact his Father, to make any contact at all, and here God was, favoring a Nephillim over him? It wasn't anger at Eve. No, it was anger at God himself.

Casting her eyes down in embarrassment, Eve crossed her arms over her chest and asked, "So will you teach Kevin how to read? We'll stay here of course, as long as it takes." Metatron studied her sudden burning cheeks and nodded slowly. "Of course, it will take only a few days. Tell Arnold I said it was fine and he will see you to the rooms that are not filled with books. Our young prophet needs time alone if he wants to learn." Eve nodded and looked over at Kevin. "Are you going to be okay Kevin? I'll come in and check on you whenever I can and I'm sure the boys will do the same."

"Uh, yeah, yeah, I should be fine," Kevin said, nodding at Eve, and then looking between the others. Cas didn't seem bothered. In fact, Kevin wasn't sure if he'd even heard. Dean looked a bit perplexed, but when Kevin met his eye, the hunter nodded, as if to say that he could stay if he thought it would help.

Nodding, Eve slipped past the men and towards the front desk. Her mind was spinning, God had listened to her prayers personally? Muttering Metatron's orders to the desk clerk, the Native American nodded wordlessly and began leading the group towards their two rooms. "Why didn't Eve tell us she almost died last year?" Sam whispered to his brother, his hazel eyes following Eve closely.

They all followed after her. Dean leaned in as his brother spoke, and then just softly shook his head, murmuring back with a sigh, "I... I don't know. It's not like we haven't talked to her since then." First, the whole Nephilim thing, and now this? Dean wasn't mad; he just didn't know why Eve, someone they had known so long, wouldn't trust them with this.

Hoping to avoid the Winchesters', and possibly Castiel's questions, Eve hurried through the first door the man opened, diving face first onto the bed. Sam watched Eve with slightly surprise and whispered, "Should we ask her?"

Sam watched Eve with slightly surprise and whispered, "Should we ask her?" "I don't think now's the time, Sammy," Dean said with a sigh, and a shake of his head, as she hurried into her room and dived onto the bed. He walked past, Kevin and Cas both curiously glancing in the door. The first passed, but the angel remained, and after a moment slid inside. He stood there, for a moment, and then cleared his throat, asking, "Eve?"

Humming, Eve turned her head to face the angel, quite surprised he had been the one to stay. "Yes Castiel?" Of course, she was afraid of what he would say. She had felt a swell of pride when she learned out of everyone, God had listened to her after his sudden departure from Upstairs, but then she remembered listening to all the angels weep for their absent father. She thought of her own father who didn't stick around to meet her. And she felt horrible.

She thought of her own father who didn't stick around to meet her. And she felt horrible. Well, Cas could've been angry about that, and in a sense he was, but he just shook his head, and then began, "I'm sorry that I tried to kill you because you're a Nephilim." His eyes met hers, as he awkwardly leaned his shoulders onto the wall. He truly was too, but now he didn't know what else to say. That was... it. He was sorry.

"Oh." Now that was definitely something she had not expected; certainly not from Castiel. Not know what to say, she awkwardly responded, "I'm sorry too. Well, not about you killing me, but. Well, the fact He's been listening to me, and not anyone of importance. He probably just likes to laugh at my horrible praying skills, I never went to church as a kid and I tend to just babble." Wincing, she shut her eyes in embarrassment before whispering, "I should probably shut up now."

Castiel slowly blinked, listening, dipping his head in thought before saying, the tiniest of smiles playing on his lips, "It's fine. God... he never picked favorites, but he always answered prayers from the most unlikely places, paid attention to the most unlikely angels, or Nephilim." He quieted for a moment before shrugging, "The angels miss him."

"I can see that." Eve said, pushing herself up into a sitting position, she dangled her feet off of the edge of the bed and patted the spot next to her. "I know it's not nearly the same, but I never met my father; since he was an angel and all. But from what I can tell, he loved my mother. He'd help her out on hunts when she was younger, kind of like how you help out the Winchesters. She told me hundreds of stories until I felt like I knew him myself and I miss him." Clasping her hands together she said slowly, "And if you would like, I will mention you in my prayers."

Cas came and sat down after a moment, listening to her with his head vowed and his hands lightly clasped over his knees. Finally, he looked up, smiling softly and saying, "I am sure that your father was a fantastic person." As she asked about the prayers though, he paused, and he thought, before nodding deeply. "Yes, if you could. I would like that." He offered an awkward, lopsided sort of smile to her.

"Of course. I'll be sure to ask Him where He is as well, although I doubt He'll answer. Maybe I can persuade him to return to Heaven." Eve said softly before flopping backwards. "Tell me something about yourself Castiel. It seems only fair since you can read my mind and I cannot read yours." Looking up at his beautiful blue eyes, her own hazel green ones crinkled as she smiled, her wild dark auburn hair splayed all over the comforter.

Castiel just chuckled softly. He didn't think that that would work, but maybe. He was getting ready to stand up, as Eve leaved back, continuing the conversation. Castiel blinked down at her before lying back too, hands folded on his stomach. "Well, I'm as old as the universe. I've known the Winchesters for a couple of years now. This is the first human vessel I've ever had," he said, awkwardly, and then paused before saying, "that's it."

"My favorite color is royal blue. Kinda like your eyes." Eve blurted before asking gently, "What's your favorite color?" Turning her head to face his, she smiled patiently, quite interested in this angel. Might as well befriend him.

"Uh, well..." Cas began, turning his own head to face hers. He was about to launch into an explanation as to why he didn't really have a favorite color, since angels didn't perceive color as angels and angel-human hybrids and many other creatures did, but then he realized that she probably didn't want to hear that, so he looked to the nearest thing (her eyes, damnit) and blurted, "Green."

Smiling, she squinted slightly and said, "You're not what I expected you to be Castiel." Closing her eyes, she sighed softly, ignoring the little voice inside of her screaming, YOUR EYES ARE GREEN. The small hopeless romantic hadn't died off after all these years of hunters only wanting one night and normal men who had their whole lives; which normally were short since she'd meet them on the job.

Cas turned his head away, looking up the ceiling as he drummed his folded fingers on his stomach. "No, I suppose I must not be," he finally said, shoulders heaving as he sighed, before asking, just as awkwardly, "do you want to go on a walk with me? I assume Dean, Sam, and Kevin are all quite busy."

Smiling, she nodded slowly, opening her eyes as she sat up. "Sure. Do you know anything about stars?" It had grown late, they had stopped for dinner on the way to the hotel and while Eve was quite sluggish earlier, she was immediately rejuvenated at the thought of a walk. Slipping off of the bed, she stretched before grabbing her pistol and shoved it down the back of her jean shorts before pulling her shirt over to conceal it. "Can never be too careful," she offered as an explanation.

Cas simply nodded before heading towards the door, throwing over his shoulder, "Well, I was there when the stars were all tiny and new, so yes. Up close, they're really not all that exciting, but I guess they're nice to look at from far away." He pushed open the hotel door, holding it for her with his back, eyes flicking from her face to the musty old carpet outside.

"Oh thank God—oh sorry," Eve laughed softly as she walked past him. "Normally I have to pretend I know everything, I end up just making up names. Mom and I never got to astronomy, just stuck with mythology and weapons training." Walking closely beside him, she stuffed her hands in her pockets and shuffled her boot-clad feet. "Not that I should complain, none of us really had much of a childhood. I learned how to reconstruct a gun and shoot before I could talk. You wouldn't believe what I could do by first grade."

[[ i hate chemistry i am Screaming Into the Void. ]]
"I was never a child, so I believe I can relate" Cas said bluntly as they brushed through the front doors into the cool night air. He might've been an angel, but vessels got cold, so he shuddered and pulled his shoulders up to cover his ears as he began to walk. Maybe they'd just take a lap around the building. "The day I was born I probably could've toppled a whole city with one swing of my hand, not that I did of course," he sounded a bit panicked on that last park.

Shivering slightly, for even a hunter could get cold, Eve hesitantly wrapped her arms around Castiel's arm, pulling herself closer to him as she laughed at his statement. "I burned down a hotel. It was abandoned and it was to get ride of a nasty group of ghosts, but it drove my mother insane. I was only seven and that's when she decided I'd be better off staying at Bobby's for a while." Smiling fondly, she added, "Of course, he was a terrible influence."

"Bobby was a good man," Castiel mused with a tiny nod, stiffening ever so slightly as she pulled him close, though he didn't exactly push away either, "he was good to Dean and Sam, and me, and you, I suppose. You grew up with the Winchesters, then?"

"Yeah, John would drop them off at Bobby's over the summer and during school breaks when he wasn't taking them on hunts. Mom did the same thing with me, and when John and my mom decided to work together, we spent a whole summer together out at Bobby's." Glancing up at the night sky she said fondly, "Anything I know that mom didn't teach me was taught by Bobby. He was a grumpy old man, but deep down he was as cuddly as a teddy bear."

Castiel just laughed lightly, bobbing his head as he glanced upwards. "Bobby really cared for you all," he mused softly as he peered at the twinkling stars above. He could name every single one of them with ease. He had seen every one of them up close. He always thought they looked best from far away though. "I would have loved to have known him longer."

"I think you two would have got along famously, although it might have taken a while." Her smile falling as she thought of the old hunter, she asked softly, "How long did you know Bobby? Before he....," Clearing her throat, she blinked back a few tears and said, "Before he passed?" Leave it to Bobby to make her nearly cry. Leaning against Castiel, she glanced up at the stars as if she was looking up at Bobby. How could she know he was latched on to an old flask in Dean's Impala?

"As long as I've known Dean and Sam," Castiel said, with a tiny shake of his head, "so a couple of years. I wish I could have... been there, for him." He adjusted his weight, allowing for Eve's leaning on him. It was really no problem for him at all. She was as light as a snowflake. Well, no, not that light, but that was the gist of it.

"So do I. Mom and I were halfway across the country. When Dean called to tell me Bobby was in the hospital, I dropped my werewolf case in Seattle and raced there but I had just crossed the state line when Sam called me to tell me that." Shaking her head she sighed and quickly changed the conversation. "What constellation is that?" She asked cheerfully, pointing up at a random set of stars.
