"Because they're... because they're not supposed to exist," Castiel finally said, deciding to be as blunt as possible, "a union between an angel and a human is wrong. But, their offspring are very, very powerful, yet more easily captured than angels are, making them targets."

"So you tried to kill her?" Sam asked, standing up and running a hand through his hair. "Cas, you don't just kill someone because they're not supposed to exist—no offense Eve." Shrugging she replied, "None taken." Nodding slightly Sam continued. "We hunt monsters who hurt people. Eve is a hunter just like us, she's never hurt anyone who hasn't deserved it."

"Well, I didn't know that!" Cas said, beginning to sound exasperated, looking up at the Winchester brother as he stood, brow furrowing. He didn't understand why he was in trouble for doing something that wasn't wrong. Nephelim weren't supposed to exist. "I was only doing what I know. I'm sorry for that, if it's so wrong."

"Castiel it's fine." Eve said quickly, having grown tired of the bickering. While the Winchesters were known for their shoot first, ask questions later attitude, they argued like an old married couple for as long as she'd known them. Turning to the angel, she raised her eyebrows and asked, "He won't try it again, right Cas?"

Cas just stared at her, something spiteful flashing behind his eyes, but he finally shook his head with a simple, "No, I will not try it again. Ridding this town of demons is more important."

"Exactly. So since it's getting late, I'm gonna hit the hay, what time should I stop by in the morning fellas?" Eve asked, striding quickly to the door. Sam shrugged and looked at Dean with questioning eyes, unaware that Eve was itching to leave.

Dean looked back at her, and then said, with a glance at Sam, "Uh, ten? We're going out to check on another possible possession later, but we should be back. I don't think it's legit."

"Okay, well I'm in room 221 if you need me." Eve said before slipping out of the room without so much as a goodbye. Sam watched her and, taking in her unusual behavior said, "Dean, could I, um, talk to you for a minute. Alone?"

"Yeah, sure," Dean said with a small nod, getting up and putting his hands in his pockets, heading over towards the door, gesturing with his head for her to follow after him. Cas took a step, but then faltered. He caught it out of the corner of his eye. He appreciated the concern, but he'd be fine. Eve was a good person.

"Listen, I'm sorry that I didn't tell you and Sam that I'm...ya'know. But I have to be honest, if Feather's in there hadn't tried to kill me, you two wouldn't have found out. Ever. But that's besides the point." Glancing around, she lowered her voice and said, "I know you two idiots are trying to close the Gates of Hell. The Angels won't shut up about it. They said you've even nagged yourself a Prophet. What do you two think you're doing?"

"Yeah, I figured," Dean said simply, but not really in an angry tone. His brow was furrowed though. Why would she think that he and Sam would ever try to kill her because she was what, half angel? Angels were good, right? Well, mostly. So that meant she wasn't a being that would do them any harm anyways. "Well, we're trying to close them, like you said... so what? We've done crazier."

"And one of you dies every time." Eve replied before crossing her arms over her chest. "How far have you two come? What's the next step?" By asking these questions she hoped to draw his attention away from the fact she had nearly been killed by a close friend of his.

"Well..." Dean sighed, "after we take care of this mess, our prophet says we gotta get the blood of a Hell Hound, somehow. It's one of the steps to close the gates. Can't do it without it."

"Easy. I know a certain King of Hell who owes me a favor. Just find Fluffy and off her." Eve shrugged before gently grabbing Dean's hand. "I overheard some angels a few months ago. Purgatory, right? You left Cas behind and brought a vampire with you. Benny, right?"

"Uh, yeah, Benny," Dean said, looking between their clasped hands and her eyes. He didn't really want to talk about it, but she was going there, so great...

Taking in his uncomfortable posture, she lowered her gaze and muttered, "Sorry, ever since I've tuned into angel radio I've become quite nosy. They're so blunt it's beginning to rub off on me."

Dean blinked, and then said, placing his other hand on the both of theirs and giving them a soft, awkward squeeze, "No, uh, it's fine, Eve. Just... we know what we're doing. Don't worry. It always works out in the end, don't it?"/div]

"More or less," Eve replied before pulling her hand away from his. "Night Dean." Hurrying to her room, she locked the door behind her and sat at the foot of her bed, blade in hand and sigels on the walls, ready to fight off any angels who came her way. Another sleepless night.

[[ yep! ]]
Hours later, Dean woke up. Looking at the clock, it was nine-thirty, and he groaned as he stretched, sitting up and cracking his neck. With a quick glance around the room, he found Castiel sitting on the old, brown couch, on one of the laptops. "Morning, sunshine," he greeted gruffly, swinging his legs out of bed and stumbling to the fridge to grab a bottle of water. "Good morning, Dean," Cas' monotone voice echoed back. Dean picked up a water bottle, cracking it open and closing the fridge with his hip and taking a swig. "You know, Cas, I ain't mad at you," he replied, "about Eve. You were just going what you thought it right." He watched the angel blink slowly, before simply saying, "Thank you." Well, he supposed that that was good enough.

Sam, having gone out for a run earlier, came in with a frown on his face. "Eve's not in her room, it looks like she left in a hurry. The door was open and there were sigils everywhere, some I've never even seen before. Did she stop by and leave when I was gone?" The younger Winchester was worried, even though she too had grown up amongst hunters, she seemed the only source of normalcy in his childhood. She had been the mother he never knew, caring and all knowing yet tough as steel. She had given Dean a run for his money when her mom and their dad went hunting together, leaving the three of them to watch out for each other.

"What?" Dean asked, setting the water down as he reached towards one of the chairs to grab a shirt, "no, no she didn't. Cas, you know anything about this?" The angel just blinked again, before saying as he closed the laptop, getting up, "I do not. Meet you over there." And with that, he disappeared in a loud flutter of wings, leaving Dean to button up his shirt and he shoved a gun down his belt loop with his other hand, and gestured to the door with his head. "Let's go, Sammy."

Worry consumed Sam as he followed his older brother, his mind running brought all of the different possibilities. Running into her room, he managed to catch his breath before saying, "What do you think got her? I mean, look at all the—" Setting her blade down Eve, covered in sweat and blood, her clothes and hair a mess and her eyes heavy, her voice came out rough and gravely as she asked, "Got who?"

Castiel was already standing by the wall, looking at the sigils, spindly fingers running over them gently. He knew all but a few, like Sam had said, but they were still... familiar. "Eve, what happened?" Dean barked as he came to a halt, eyes flickering over the bloody girl, "you hurt?"

"No, nothing to serious." Eve rasped, studying the worried Winchesters and the curious Castiel in her room. "Eve where were you?" Sam asked, glaring slightly at the girl who shrugged and said, "I couldn't sleep. Went for a drive, found a few demons—well more like they found me. But I'm back now, they're dead and our job is done." Wobbling, she leaned against the door, her eyes struggling to keep open. "You said we weren't meeting until ten, right? It's like nine fifty, I'm early." Nodding, Sam grabbed Eve's arm to support her and said, "Yeah and you're also bleeding out. Cas, a little help?"

"If that ain't too serious..." Dean murmured, beckoning Cas over as well, as the angel turned at Sam's call, "why the hell didn't you call for backup? He can hear prayers, you know." He was referring to Castiel, of course, who was now standing beside them. The angel frowned as he pressed two of his fingers to Eve's forehead, a faint glow emitting from his fingertips and his eyes before fading, and he pulled his hand back. "Better?" he asked, turning his head to one side to look at her.

"Didn't think he'd answer. Besides, you have enough on your plate." She grumbled and winced as the angel healed her. "Yeah, thanks Feathers. Next time I'll give you a shout." Sitting in the edge of her bed, she pulled her shoes off and said, "How'd you get into my room anyway? I forgot to give you my extra key."

"Sam said the door was wide open," Dean replied, gesturing to his brother, "you didn't leave it like that?" Well, now they maybe had something breaking into her damn room to worry about. Damnit. Now that he knew that she was a Nephilim, it was going to be even harder to keep her face. He knew full well she could do that herself, but he was like a sister to him. If she got hurt...

"Shitt." She said, walking towards the air vent before ripping it open. "They took it. Damn it!" Tossing the vent onto the floor she screamed, "Damn it!" Sam's eyes widened and he asked in concern, "What? What did they take?" Sighing, she said in frustration, "It was a notebook. I take notes when the Angels are talking."
