IC "Hmm, being popular sounds taxing," Norman decided as he finally actually got to eating his food. "Do this, act like this, be this. I'd get so tired of it all," even though essentially he did something similar, kept up a mask at school. Grumpy genius gay nerd was probably the easiest way to describe him. But he could still change his act up whenever he wanted and no one would give a hoot.

Adrian groaned a bit in agreement. "Do something you don't actually like to get scholarships, hang out with people you don't actually like. It's so tiring." He said. He had gotten a few bites in before coming over here, so he deemed that good enough. He adjusted how he was sitting, so his feet actually went under the table instead of stretching out into the middle of the rooom.

IC Yeah, he was far happier with his miserable school life. Home was good at least, both homes were. He'd suggest Adrian do what felt best for him, however since he seemed to have a Zayden at home and it wasn't really any of his business, he wasn't going to say anything about that. Instead he would offer something he hadn't ever really thought of before. "Well, if you ever get tired of it, you know where to find me," he said as he looked at the table before returning his focus on simply eating his food.

"Yup. In some crowded school hallway where I could get in trouble for it. Sounds amazing." Adrian said, frowning just a little. "But still. Thanks for the offer. I appreciate it." Today had been tiring. This conversation was exhausting. Why had he told Norman so much about himself? Those were things he didn't really let anybody know. Obviously he didn't tell his parents since the act was for him, and then Zayden would just figure out how to ruin anything if he tried. After all, his father was the coach on the football team, and was really good friends with Adrian's parents. So really, he didn't exactly have a 'safe space'.

IC "Crowded hallways, this here table at lunch, after school I have to stick around a bit because my brothers can't pick me up right away so I'm usually out by the front of the school, or at the school library," Norman continued. Though usually in his free time he had his sketch book with him, and he hid himself away from sight pretty well, that way he could draw in peace. Soon he finished his lunch and got up. "Well, anyways, nice talking to you, but I should probably let you get back to your table now," he explained as he grabbed his tray.

"Yeah. " He said, getting to his feet to leave. "Enjoy your lunch." Adrian murmured before walking back to his own table. "What were you talking to the nerd for?" Bianca asked, laughing a bit. "How about you mind your own damn business for once?" Adrian said in a calm voice, sitting back down at his normal spot, ignoring the dirty looks Bianca set him for the rest of the period.

The next day had Adrian in a mildly bad mood, since it had started with a lecture from his parents. He looked at the battered notebook he held in his hand, and then he put it into the back of his locker. It was just full of lyrics, either from songs he liked or ones he had put together. He really just needed to focus on being the best player to get a scholarship like his dad kept saying. Shutting his locker, he turned around to head to his next class.

IC So far Norman honestly couldn't say he had been looking forward to school today, thanks to Mel, their dog...his contacts were somewhere in the Great Dane's digestive system, so he had to bring his glasses to school just so he could see. Which kind of sucked because they were big glasses and honestly were very noticeable. So yeah, not entirely fun. However he did have a test today and crushing everyone else with amazing test results always had a way of making him feel better. Though still, he was in no hurry to get to class, which was why he has stubbornly stayed by his locker. He would go to his next class when he absolutely had to, he didn't want to risk someone talking to him in the class before it started.

Adrian, being the mildly annoying guy he was, did the same thing as yesterday. He found Norman and used him as an arm rest, though his spirit didn't really seem to be into annoying the shorter boy. It was more like as task. "Hey. Math, right?" He asked, yawning into his other arm, his backpack hanging on one shoulder. He looked down at Norman with a raised eyebrow as he waited for a response.

IC "Arm off the shoulder Adrian," Norman instructed as he exhaled in annoyance and closed his locker, figuring he had to probably actually go to class now. "Is this going to become the usual? You finding me at my locker before Math and walking me there? I may have to actually start going early," he said dryly as he pushed the glasses that he definitely needed to get readjusted back up to the bridge of his nose.

"It might be. Why is that such a problem?" He questioned with a scowl as he dropped his arm to his side again. "You did kind of say I could find you in the halls. But fine. Whatever. " Adrian grumbled, frowning at the floor and just turning quiet as they kept walking.

IC "I did say that, didn't think you would take me up on that offer though," Norman confessed as he looked up at him. "If you couldn't tell before...I was joking about walking to class early to avoid you, I should probably work on how I phrase things..." he explained as he looked back down. "It isn't a problem, not really," the short boy tried to explain. Gosh he hadn't meant to make him feel bad or anything, just...well he had a tendency to just...be rude. Really wasn't like he meant to come off that way...okay sometimes he did but that wasn't the point.

"Huh? Oh." Adrian rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "Sorry. Tend not to catch sarcasm." He said with little laugh. Or more like it was the whole thing with him hating himself, so he just tended to think that everybody else hated him too. Adrian cleared his throat after moment. "Anyway. Uh. Maybe Zayden will give you a break. Probably not, but hopefully he will."

IC Norman snorted at that. "Yeah, a break, that isn't going to happen, especially not since my dog ate my contact lenses, now I have to wear this thing," he glared at his glasses. "Dorky glasses to go with the dork behind them...I'm prepared for some childish bullying from him even more now," he explained with a shake of his head. "Doesn't matter, I do better without breaks from things, messes me up," he explained with a slight frown on his face.

"True. Though seriously I just noticed the glasses. It might because I can't see anything in front of me most of the time, but eh. " Adrian shrugged again, glancing down at him before back to the hallway in front of him. "Yeah, that makes sense. Routines are kind of nice. And if Zayden being a jerk is part of your routine..."

IC "Really? Well maybe you need glasses too," Norman told him and took his own off. "My eyesight is pretty bad, but try it out anyways," he told him and squinted as he looked ahead though everything was really blurry. "Zayden being a jerk is about as much routine as weekends at mom's, so yeah it's definitely routine," he explained, holding his books that he had brought closer.

"I have contacts, I just never remember to wear them." Adrian said, taking the glasses just to check them out. "Well at least I can see things in front of me now." He said with a faint laugh before handing them back. "Mine are mostly for reading and anything closer than like seven feet or something. So like, you're a bit blurry but I can make out the text on her shirt," he said, nodding towards a girl farther down the hall. "Oh. Are your parents divorced? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

IC Norman was more than happy to take his glasses back and placed them back were they belonged. "Well my parents are divorced but my dad's also dead so...yeah. I never knew my dad, my mom was unfit to take care of me when I was young, dad already dead, no other family, so I was in the foster system, these three brothers who had all been adopted too, they fostered me and later tried to adopt me, mom got involved though since she was fit to take me back...so uh...they have joint custody over me now," Norman explained, he honestly didn't mind sharing things about his family. Well so long as it didn't get him any deeper in bullying. "Weekdays are spent with my brothers, weekends and school breaks with my mom."

Adrian listened and nodded a bit. "Wow. That's really interesting actually. From what you've said your family seems really nice." he said with a faint little smile. "How old are your brothers?" he questioned, figuring one of them had to be over eighteen since he didn't think you could adopt until you were legally an adult.

IC "They're all 33," Norman told. "They started to foster me when I was three, they were 20," he honestly had only fond memories of his family, well at least the ones he knew, though he didn't really remember Grandpa Walters, who had been the one to adopt his brothers...he died when Norman was young. "What about you? Can I ask what your family is like?" He asked, figuring he wouldn't really get much of an answer though.

Adrian nodded a bit again. "That's nice. I'm glad you have a safe space, if that makes sense." Rin was quiet, trying to figure out how to respond. "Oh, uh. I'm an only child to start. It consists mostly of verbal fights and avoidance, actually. Like nobody actually gets a long. The only reason why they're still together is because of reputations." He left out the part where his dad was slowly getting more violent. Sure, he hadn't actually gotten hit yet, but there had been some pretty close calls.

IC Norman frowned slightly at that, sounded fairly awful to him. He considered himself lucky to have a rather good family situation, even if his brothers were a tad overprotective...and a tad was under exaggerating it by a lot, and yeah his mother was a bit of a smotherer...but still, he had a great family and if he thought about it, he would rather have family than a good reputation at school. "Sorry...sounds kinda sucky," he apologized, unsure of really what to say.

"Not your fault. But thanks though. " Adrian said, just looking down at his feet for a minute before rubbing the back of his neck. "Anyway. Enough about my dysfunctional family. This is your class." he said, stopping and looking down at Norman. "Have a nice math class." He didn't really wait for a response before he walked away, kind of just wanting to hide now. He really had to stop being so open.

IC Norman watched him go before actually entering Math class. He really couldn't tell with Adrian if he was genuinely being nice or if he was a lot like Phil from his old school, that guy had been nice at first, lied to make him seem more relatable, then set Norman and his small group of friends up for a pretty embarrassing time at a school dance...though Norman liked to think he was good at reading people, something was always odd with Phil, he didn't get that same vibe from Adrian.
