wow....just wow. Finished it already! XD so....you know SPOILERS!!!
so, basically, the first half of the book is one big "IT'S A TRAP!!" reference since we've ALREADY read the first two books! Seriously, this book SHOULD have came out BEFORE the start of the new series. THEN we would've been totally surprised by Darktail's betrayal like all of SkyClan.
Gotta say, the tom has WAY more cunning than Tigerclaw ever had. Fireheart might not have been so suspicious of him, had he actually acted NICE like Darktail had. And I really like the contrast here between fireheart and tigerclaw and Darktail and Hawkwing. Hawkwing WAS suspicious of Darktail at one point, not trusting him and realizing that he and his Clan had been lied to. But Darktail was very cunning and pretended that everything was just a mistake....even growing closer to Hawkwing to gain his trust. THAT is smart. truly, the best villain that warriors has had in a long time. like scourge but with better back story.
though, at some point, I found it really hard to believe that SkyClan had NEVER ran into raccoons before this point. They are like, always two steps away from twolegplace and it ALWAYS has raccoons and possums and whatever! honestly, I see like 7 possums in my neighborhood every month when I drive home at night. and I don't even live in the city! And I honestly don't see how ALL the daylight warriors would be trapped in their homes at the same time this is happening. not every human will even realize that there are raccoons in their area, or even care about their cats getting into trouble. One of them would have knowledge about this. and told the clan about how they only eat crowfood twoleg food, causing Pebblepaw and Hawkwing to speak out about Darktail.
Also, man this book is dark. I was SUPER sad about Billystorm dying!!! He was super awesome even if his name was kinda weird! I was also incredibly frustrated by the lack of faith all the cats had in the book. I honestly can't believe that Parsleyseed and Curlypaw (stupid name for a cat) would WANT to become kittypets! I mean, I kinda understand all the cats that stayed behind or were taken away, but SERIOUSLY?! It just seems like they had no good reason to leave other than giving up on their Clan for a softer life. for shame!
Also, I liked Cloudmist's name...just something to add. I can't believe she and Cherrytail stayed behind after losing Sharpclaw....
Also, I really don't believe that Darktail expected Hawkwing to join him LITERALLY after killing his father in front of him....i mean, COME ON!!! WHO WOULD?!
I'm also curious as to why SkyClan didn't travel through the mountains?? Did the erins forget the layout of the land? They would have had to pass old windclan territory on the way to Barley. Then he would've been all like "Oh yeah, they left for the mountains just beyond the ridge. Btw- there's a Moonstone in a cave where you can talk to StarClan. At least, that's what the other Clans did. Oh and one more thing, they were following a prophecy about a falling star in THAT direction. Happy trails!"
=.=
I don't know what all this 'flatlands' and 'forests and small lakes" are doing there....and I'm pretty sure if Barley gave them right directions, they would have been with the clans in like.....3 moons tops. In the power of three thing, it sure didn't seem like it took them that long. They also would have met the TRIBE. This journey just seems like it was extremely long and horrible for no reason than to make the story longer. It just seemed like they would have been far more full of hope if they HAD met the tribe, which they too, are from. it just seems cruel.
btw- we never find out why Darktail is doing all of this. Not Sol's or Scourge's revenge....nothing really. Or Rain either. Just cunning savagery.
And compared to ALL that SkyClan has gone through.....NeedlePAW's betrayal is nothing more than an upset brat that needs to have her face smacked a bit. Though, in hindsight....it probably would have been more interesting if Hawkwing HAD betrayed his Clan and joined Darktail for a little while. He'd journey and save all of SkyClan when they were first escaping the twolegplace.
Just saying it would have been a REAL character development that we haven't already seen.....and maybe we'd understand why he's so emo with guilt all the freaking time.
Also, last note of the book: I think the Erins forgot that Sparrowpelt and Cherrytail are brother and sister, because Hawkwing was going to have babies with his cousin, Pebbleshine..............who is Sparrowpelt's daughter... soooo...............gross......
And I can honestly say that it was also kinda creepy that Hawkwing goes from thinking she's super stuck up to super cute.....
THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK! ROLL IT!
