(hey I'll be on for a bit, though i may be poofy because i'll be working on some precal homework. and tonight i'm helping out at a haunted house. and yes that's fine, Wingding ) The scientists finished placing the needles in Mikel's skin. Mikel was feeling lethargic, but he kept his eyes open, trying to refrain from passing out. The pain was annoying though. Not like he wasn't used to it by now. It was just like a thousand bees stinging him, over and over, pain and annoying because he couldn't do any damn thing. It was suffocating and derailing and he was getting so tired of all this. How long had it been? Hell, probably forever. After the scientists helped raise him up and sit him against the bed, one came in and made sure his vitals were okay. He just let them. It'd be over sooner if he was still anyway. He knew what was coming next. The main doctor left, and Mikel could feel his skin prickle in anxiety. He hated this part. The doctor came back in, something resembling a helmet in his grasp. He went over to a computer and placed in some increments, then ran a wire into the helmet. He place it into the computer, and then carried the helmet over to Mikel. He strapped it to Mikel's head, making sure the wires were sticking out from the walls of exterior walls of the helmet. After making sure everything was working good and in the right place, the doctor walked back over to the computer and pressed a button. Mikel grit his teeth. It was a soft spark, like when you're dreaming and you get a small taste or feeling of an emotion, so much that you can even feel it on the outside. Like a snapping sensation that gave you chills. Then, the snapping continued, and Mikel could feel his vision closing down. He held his breath, his heart beat increasing. Why? Why did they do this? Instantly, a large bolt hit him, right into his brain, and he gasped in pain. His powers reached out towards the doctors, their auras and emotions tumbling into him like waves. Shock, wonder, disgusting awe. He always felt this. So much emotions, so much bad energy. He needed to take a shower after this. He could feel their darkness linger on him like tar. He knew his eyes were glowing at them because he couldn't see. He could never see when using his powers. Instead, it was like thermal energy, he could detect where the people were with their energies. It stung. --- Oakley heard Gaster and smiled, "I'm faring well, thank you." She called back to him. She closed her book and stood up in her cell, looking out of the bars at the others in their cells. They had removed L.J too. He wasn't in his cell, she realized. Mikel had been gone a long time, too. What were they doing to them? She dreaded it. The rest of them were probably next. Hopefully, it would be time for them to go outside soon. She was ready to breath in some fresh air. Plus, she got to fully use her abilities when she was outside, around life sources everywhere. She really enjoyed using it then, especially when she got created flowers for everyone. It was a small spark of life for them to enjoy, since they got most of theirs drained out of them during the other times of their day. "How are you, Gaster?" She inquired the other. She knew Gaster before he had...taken the serum. Not like friends or anything, but she knew him. Well, knew of him. He was really smart. And she admired that about him. Now, she knew he had to be in some sort of limbo of pain. Probably not physically, since he no longer felt pain, but mentally. He was one of the oldest of their group. He needed to be taken care of, too.

Lance sat in his cell. His cell was different than the others. While all the other cells were dark and lonely, is was lit ul, lights coming from ceiling, floor and walls. He hated it, it caused him to have massive migraines that came and went. He felt pain his head start to hurt. Great, another migraine. he thought to himself. Pretty soon all he could feel was pain. He started to scream. He squirmed in pain, and tried to cover his eyes. "When I get out of here you are all dead! You here me?!" he yelled out. He hated this place. He hated the guards and scientist. Most importantly he hated the lights. Even before all of this, he preceded to sit in his dark room watching tv, but now the light caused him physical pain. He hated the scientists for doing that to him.

Sometimes L.J cooperated, and sometimes he didn't. Today, he wasn't. More handlers just got burned, but still the scientists got what they needed. One handler even had his whole body lock up and cramped, because Lamarcus pretty much stopped his blood flow. The man nearly flatlined, yet all the scientists did was scribble down more notes. Even had the guy L.J attacked examined to see the stalled blood. Eventually, they just chained Lamarcus back up, while giving him multiple shots to dull his powers for a while. Grabbing his chains, fastening his muzzle and tying his bandanna back on, the time eventually came to take him back. Dragging him back later, they put his chains to have him in that same kneeling position. L.J never had freedom except for when the others were let out all at once. He couldn't even move around his own cell. The hulking man sighed, his gray eye looking down as he knelt. He couldn't even talk, thanks to the muzzles he had keeping his jaw clamped shut. The fire from earlier? Exhaled from his nose.
Huffing through his nose, only soft smoke came out. His dreads fell over his shoulders and back, hiding most of his face. He hated this. Everyone else got to talk and roam their cells, but not him. L.J supposed it was because of all the trouble he caused ever time they tested on him. Of course, he couldn't do anything to help that. He hated the scientists. Hated the staff in general. Grumbling, he tried to pull on the chains again. Nothing. They tightened them. Lessened what little freedom he had.

Gaster let out a tired chuckle. "As well as a person can be with no skin or organs." He responded, knowing full well that his jab at humour was likely ill-timed. He could still feel pain, quite intensely should he get hit hard enough. He was about to add something else when a guard came to his cell door, ordering him to step back to be taken for more experiments. It was rare that he was taken these days, as it was difficult to actually inject that serum into bones but they still somehow managed it. He did as he was told, stepping back and allowing the two guards to step in and flank him towards the labs. He heard Mikel screaming and he winced. Distracted, he didn't realise that the guards had stopped at a room and he got smacked across the ribs for it. He scowled but was silently glad that they didn't break. And so went the experiment with him. They tried injecting the serum into his femur with no luck - but when they tried injecting it into his eye he snapped. He grabbed the needle before it could make contact and shoved it into the closest scientists neck. He screamed and collapsed immediately. Gaster let out a satisfied huff, but didn't realise the severity of his mistake until he was hit hard over the back of his skull. He went down immediately, and he could feel that they actually cracked the bone. Disorientated, the guards had to drag him back to his cell where he was thrown in. He didn't get up for a long time.

Isabella saw the crack on Gaster's skull as they brought him in. She was worried about him. "Gaster! Are you alright?" she asked the concern in her voice was evident. The guards came to her cell and opened it up. "I'm warning you now, unless you let me check on Gaster you will not catch me and I will hurt you. So are we going to do this the easy way or the hard way?" She told the guards. Isabella was the one mutant that cooperated, but when she didn't there want much to be done. The guard agreed and she went to Gaster's cell. "Hey. Can I help you at all?"

He made a quiet contemplative hum, but shook his head. "There's really nothing you can do." He muttered as he slowly pushed on his hands to bring himself onto his knees. He reached up and touched it, wincing as he did so. The crack had reached his eye from the top of his skull. He swayed a bit, feeling very woozy all of a sudden. "I believe I just need to rest for now." He reached out and grasped Isabella's shoulder, squeezing it gently. "Don't worry too much about me. I'm stronger than I look." He leant a bit closer, murmuring into her ear. "I got one with the serum. You should have heard him scream."

The tips of Isabella's mouth curled upward at his response. "Go gaster," she whispered to him. "Well that one, now knows what it is like. I wonder if he will end up joining us?" she asked sarcastically. She gave him one more concerned look before having to leave for her tests. "Take care of yourself Gaster." she said as she left. They led her to the testing area and as soon as she was there she was injected with the serum. She screamed as the giant needle pierced her skin. "Start running on the treadmill." said one of the scientists over the intercom. She did as they said and they monitored her heart rate and her metabolism. She hated doing this, every time she used her power it made her even more mentally unstable. She could feel herself slowly begin to lose her grip on reality and sink into her second personality. Pretty soon she was sent back to her cell and she sat down crying.

"I am absolutely fabulous."
OOC CHATTER - - ROLEPLAY - When Isabella returned, Gaster, who had been sleeping moved to sit up. While she was gone, one of the trained medics came to look at the crack on his skull. They had been far, far less than kind and he had been left with more of a headache than when the medic had arrived. At least now it would heal - apparently. Whatever the medic had done it was supposed to help the bones heal back together. It certainly didn't feel like it.
Now, having woken from his nap, he was feeling better, although the pounding remained, he didn't feel like he would collapse at any moment. He conjured one of his dogs - the shock of the sudden magic forcing him to lean against the cell doors. The spectral dog too, had a crack on its head and for a moment was concerned if it was in pain. He shook the thought off as he ordered the dog take a blanket to Bella. It was always nice to have something like that after an intense session. -"Knock 'em dead, darling."

Mikel knew he blacked out. He always blacked out after using so much energy and power, especially when the scientists were the ones making him use his abilities. So, the next thing he knows, he’s being picked up and examined once more, for any signs of physical harm—not like they cared anyway—and nearly dragged back out of the hospital room, down the long and dark hallway, and into the entrance to the basement. This was where they held the “Dungeon”. Where they kept their little “secrets”, like him. It wasn’t the best place to be, but it might be better than death. Actually, he wasn’t quite sure about that. Death sounded a hell of a lot better than living in this damn place. He was taken to his cell where they threw him in and shut the cell door, locking it from the outside. After hearing their footsteps fading away, Mikel tried to pick up his tired and aching body, his head pounding like crazy. It hurt to open his eyes, but he had to see who was still around. It was what he did. He needed to make sure everyone was here. Everyone was safe. Everyone was alive. He glanced around, noticing L.J and Gaster had already been through the same as he had with the doctors. Oakley was looking over at him and Lance with concern, while Isabella and Gaster were talking. The others were doing okay, too. Okay to be living down in a hospital dungeon with barely enough to survive. Besides the doctors above, of course. He was happy they were at least reliant to protect one another. At least, he hoped they all did. “Everyone…okay?” He tried to say it loud enough, but his voice was hoarse and raw. His head still felt like a thousand shocks were pulsating through him, but he was used to the feeling. It happened at least once a day, anyway. --- Still sitting inside her cell, Oakley noticed Gaster doing okay. She smiled, happy that he was at least alright, and glanced over at LJ and Lance. They had also just brought back Mikel. She had heard his screams from out there. Whatever they had done, it didn’t sound pleasant. But when were they ever pleasant? She gave Mikel a hum in reply, assuring him that she was alright. They hadn’t come to get her yet. She was thankful for that. But, she knew it would eventually come. She just hoped it wasn’t soon. Oakley gazed over to Lance’s and L.J's cells once more and frowned. Lance always looked in pain…why did the scientists have to do that to him? And L.J was practically chained up all the time. None of them deserved any of this. “Lance, L.J, can you hear me?” She called, more like a whisper, “Can you two speak in return? Are you both...okay?”

Gaster looked up as Mikel was returned and he lent the side of his skull against the bars. He winced a bit, but nodded anyway. "I've been better." He responded, absently running his hand over the crack in his skull - which was a mistake, because he hissed in pain as it radiated through his bones. "I got one," he added, "I grabbed the needle before they could inject me," he didn't specify where - he didn't want to relive that fear. "I jabbed it into the closest one I could reach." He smiled bitterly. "OH how he screamed."

Mikel felt a smirk sneak its way on his cheeks. "Heh, good job, Gaster." He murmured, placing his head on his hands, lying against the ragged blanket in his cell. He sighed and put his face in the soft (ish) fabric, his voice muffled slightly, "Do you need help? You sound in pain."

Gaster sighed, shaking his head against the bars. "No. Nothing that you can do anyway." He turned his gaze to Mikel and gave him what he hoped would be a reassuring smile, but it was more of a grimace than anything. "There's really nothing you can do for a cracked skull, and all things considered, it's lucky that they didn't kill me for what I did. I think I came out on top." He frowned, "What about you though? You were taken away for a rather long time."

"Maybe Oakley can try something...?" Mikel said softly, glancing over at Oakley, who seemed to be in a conversation with someone else, "When we go outside today? She may be able to heal you." He smiled however, "Good job, though. I'm glad you're safe." Mikel sat up and rested his head against the bars, "It was the usual today. Ya' know, trying to get me to "feel" more. They don't understand that it hurts to use my abilities the way they want me to. It's...distracting..." He muttered, looking away, "Feeling everyone's emotions is exhausting too. It's why I don't use it much."

"Empathy alone is painful." He sighed, moving so that he could lean his back against the wall, now slightly less visible through the cages. "Actually being an Empath sounds horrible." He looked down at his boney hands and sighed again. "I don't know what I would do if I ever got out of here." He commented abesently.

"Neither would I..." Mikel muttered, rubbing his temples to cool down his headache. He sighed, "It's more like a fantasy world than reality, isn't?" He chuckled darkly, "Part of me hopes we get to go back and see the world again. But I know we may..." He stopped. No time to be a pessimist right now. He was Mikel. He was the one who had to be happy and optimistic. He had to be, for the rest of them, "We'll get out of here one day. And we can stay together, if we want. That way we can do it together, be together."

Gaster nodded, "We'll just have to get out on Halloween." He joked lightly. "I've already got my costume ready." He Was smiling, but there was an undercurrent of sadness in his voice. He sighed, pressing his head to the bars once again. He was quiet for a moment before he shifted in his place and summoned one of his dogs. They got bigger each time he did this too. The dog jumped around the cage like a overgrown puppy. "Go say hello to Mikel." He told it and it bounded through the bars and over to Mikel's cage, wagging its spectral tail.

(hey i gotta go for the night, but i'll be back on in the morning! g'night!) Mikel giggled at Gaster's words, but he knew the sadness laced behind it. Of course, they'd never be able to get out by Halloween. That was wishful thinking, though. And poor Gaster...sometimes, Mikel wanted to take his emotions and expel them outwards. To give Gaster a little happiness. He knew the poor guy was probably lonely and sad. He may have been the eldest out of all of them, but he still needed someone to be there for him. When he heard the dog coming his way, Mikel laughed under his breath and reached through the bars to pet the doggy on the skull. He scratched right above it's left eyesocket. "Hey there, buddy." He said, smiling.

The dog lightly nipped at Mikel's finger's before licking them. The dog vanished abruptly after a moment and Gaster let out a long sigh as he pressed his skull into his palms. "Remind me not to do that for a while." He mumbled with a groan.
