Riley smiles when he kissed her, but it never quite cancelled out the concern in her eyes. “I love you,” she said, desperately hoping that wouldn’t be the last time she got to say that to her husband. She reluctantly let go of him and turned to look at the twins. “I’m probably gonna put them to bed and then go myself shortly after, so be quiet when you come in,” she said. As worried as she was, she wanted to make him think that she was okay. That she wasn’t worried about him.

Riley nodded. “I love you, Mason,” she said again, finally pulling away from him because she knew she wouldn’t want to leave his arms otherwise. She went into the living room, giving him one last worried look as she reached the twins and moved to turn the movie off so that she could guide them to their bedroom.
(Did you want to do mason and Finn or skip to a new scene??

OOC:Text (Yeah I hope it will too. I'll have my fingers crossed for you. ^^)
This time Maverick could see her blush, rather clearly since he was so close to her. He then laughed slightly. “If they don't get us nachos, you won't let me forget it,” he said playfully, nudging Tori. When she rested her head on his shoulder, he smiled and gently squeezed her. Honestly he wasn't totally used to the idea of PDA either, but he was trying to get over it. Honestly he shouldn't care what others thought, they weren't doing anything inappropriate after all, just enjoying being with each each other.
.-=-.-=-.
(XD Why thank you lol. Ah yeah that would work too, didn't think of it. X3 And yes that's perfect! They finally cuddle and he wraps her up and makes her sleep. I love it!)
Lachlan gave her a look at her first words. When he said it he wondered if she was going to disagree on the fact that he technically only mentioned her closing her eyes. Though he was glad to see that she didn't continue to argue, as she was correct in assuming what he would likely do. “How can I not? You're exhausted, and I'm fine anyway,” he told her softly. He then slowly held out his hand for her. “Come on Celia, you can't expect to hold down the fort anyway if your too tired to do anything.”
.-=-.-=-.
Sometimes it is but a simple word in whisper. Rico knew the saying. It was something even he said at timesrico opened his mouth, as if he was going to say something, however nothing seemed to come out. Instead he looked down, frowning. He didn't want to be a part of this war, he never did. But even more he didn't want Phallon being part of the war. It wasn't hers to fight. A couple days ago she didn't know the world even existed.
.-=-.-=-.
Lachy couldn't help but chuckle as he shrugged. “That's exactly what I'm saying. The area we were in was a little foul, but the city itself is actually pretty nice. There are trees and little parks, big parks even, throughout the whole city,” he explained to her. While he understood what she said about the city, he wanted to try and tell her that it really wasn't as bad as her experience led her to believe.

(Hmmm, out, I think. Because wasn't this the mission we wanted her to witness just how bad a "horrible" person he was? Or did you want to save for later?)
Mason watched her for a second, feeling guilty about this. However, he was no use to her mad. There was no doubt she wanted to talk about what happened, and he himself didn't quiet know how to give an answer. That's why he wanted to be away for awhile. Maybe Finn would help piece things together. So he opened the door and left.
(Up to you. I'm good with either. ^^ )
(Thanks, Cloud. It means a lot.)
A small giggle shook her shoulders. You're right I won't. I've been looking forward to these nachos all day, Tori replied, which wasn't true. She liked how easy it was to joke around with him.
~*
(XD Forced cuddles. To anyone else might sound bad, but to Celia, it's the only way she'll accept them. XD)
She hated when he had a point. Not because he was smart enough to point out the obvious or because he had good ideas. No, it was because usually his good points went against her stubborn pride. Celia knew she needed to sleep, but between the nightmares and the dangers lurking outside, she wasn't sure which one she wanted to face. The girl stared at Lach's offered hand, hesitating. She wasn't going to win this fight. With a small sigh, she took his hand and sat down in the spot he had offered her. It wasn't a huge improvement to the floor, but it was better.
~*
"If you don't mind me asking," Phallon spoke finally, her words cautious. She didn't know if the Queen would like the interruption or not, but she felt the need to be included since she was the topic of discussion. "May I ask just why this war even started?"
The Queen turned her red gaze to the girl. "I take it, then, that you've learned nothing in history during your time here, hm?" she asked in return.
~*
Celia tried to picture that in her mind, but she just couldn't believe it. Having only seen a sliver of the city, her opinion was basis. She couldn't deny it since she had no proof, but it didn't mean she had to believe it. "If you say so," she muttered. "I'd still prefer this to just a couple of scattered parks."

(Sure.)
It was close to ten o'clock at night by the time Mason returned him. He had had a few drinks, nothing major, but Finn had still insisted on driving him home. They would work out how he was going to get his truck back in the morning. Right now, sleep was the only thing on his mind. Opening the door as silently as he could, the man made his way through the dim apartment towards his room. Part of him wanted to go check on the twins, but he didn't want to risk waking them. Everything was silent, and he didn't want to ruin it. So, he just trudged into the bedroom, kicked off his shoes, and began to change out of his clothes.

Riley had been sleeping, but not heavily. She had only just slipped into the shallow sleep, and had been trying to stay up for Mason to arrive home. But she’d slept anyway. When she heard someone moving around in the room, she opened her eyes and then rubbed them. A few moments later, she could make out the figure of her husband. “Mason?” She asked, lifting her head to look over st him. She yawned. “How are you?” she asked, trying to figure out if he was drunk or had made it home sober.

OOC:Text (Ah it's fine Night. Don't mention it, I do what I can for a friend. ^^)
Maverick looked at Tori with raised eyebrows. “Have you really?” he asked, before shrugging. “Well, I've been looking forward to this cuddle all day, so we're even,” he said, before playfully sticking his tongue out at her.
.-=-.-=-.
(Lol true, for Celia you kinda need to coax it out of her for her to be willing to cuddle lol.)
Lachy could see the confliction on her face, but he smiled when she gave in, and took his hand, sitting down next to him. “Thank you,” he said softly, squeezing her hand. Then he reluctantly let go so he could get the blanket from behind him. When he had it he gently draped it over Celia’s shoulders, though he actually kept his arm around her instead of pulling it away.
.-=-.-=-.
Rico looked over at Phallon as she spoke up, blinking in slight surprise. Though he didn't, he wanted to smile a little at her boldness to speak to the Queen directly. Of course it may not have been completely because she was bold, but maybe because she just didn't properly know how to react to the Queen yet, though he knew it still took a bit of bravery to say anything. At the Queen's words, Rico slowly shook his head. “W-we didn't have time for a history lesson in the couple of days w-we’ve been here.”
.-=-.-=-.
Lachy shrugged, his eyes finally shifting from her to look at the scenery around them again. “I understand that, it is much nicer out here I think.” Lach then tilted his head somewhat. “You say you've travelled around the whole Red Kingdom right? Tell me, what your favourite thing to have seen?” He asked curiously.

(Which I appreciate. So I'm going to thank you whether you want it or not. XD)
Tori stuck her tongue out in return. Really, his point trumped hers, so there was no point in arguing. Maybe there was a chance that she sort of had been kind of looking forward to cuddling with him as well. A very small possibility, but still. Well, you are better than nachos, she admitted.
~*
(Coax is a very mild term for it. XD)
Celia was about to refuse the blanket, knowing he would need it more than she did. Yet, it was nice feeling that sense of security. She pulled the blanket tighter around her and wanting nothing more than to pull it completely over her so she could pretend to disappear. Then she was aware of Lach's arm. A moment passed, and he hadn't moved it away. Part of her wanted to shrug it away. However, this was Lach. She had accepted his physical contact for short moments. Maybe her would move it on his own? A minute passed. Nothing changed. Finally, the girl turned her face to look at his. She said nothing, but only watched the boy who somehow claimed to be in love with her.
~*
"What a shame," The queen said. "I will give you a short version that should suffice your curiosity for the time being. My sister wants what she can't have. That's putting it mildly, but, as I said, you'll get a fuller version of it all later. Such topics should not be discussed over tea. "
Phallon nodded slightly. How many wars had started because the kings and queens of old had the same motivation? It was more complicated, she was sure, but why shouldn't the war of Wonderland have been started for the same reason. "I guess diplomacy has already been ruled out?"
~*
Celia had to think for a moment. There had been so many interesting places in the kingdom. It was hard to narrow it down to just one. "I don't know," she admitted after a while. "There's a couple of places that I've been to more than others, but I wouldn't say they were favored more. It was just that I needed to go there for some reason or another. I don't know if I even thought about what my favorite place is."

I don't know if I even thought about what my favorite place is." (XD Well then, *bows*, you're very welcome. ^^) Maverick laughed, leaning forward and quietly snapping his teeth together in front of her tongue. He would have just gently bit her tongue, but the boy decided against doing that to her this time. As she continued, he gave her a look, smiling. “I certainly hope so. Knowing you, the relationship with some nachos won't go on for very long,” Mav said teasingly, nudging her with a wink. .-=-.-=-. Lachy waited patiently to see if Celia was going to react somehow to his arm around her back. He wondered if she would get it off, yet moments passed and she didn't move to do so. He saw her pull the blanket around herself tighter, which was a good sign, but he continued to wait. She could feel his arm, he knew that, but he couldn't tell how she felt about it. Even when she turned to meet his gaze, he still couldn't tell. Looking into her eyes, Lach honestly wanted to kiss her. It would be the perfect moment to do so that was for sure, yet he held back. He didn't even know if she liked him or not, so a kiss would certainly be a bad idea. So, instead, Lach gently pulled her slightly toward him with a squeeze. “I love you Celia. If you don't feel the same, that's fine… I just wanted you to know,” he said, his voice barely a whisper to her. .-=-.-=-. Rico didn't do anything, but wanted to roll his eyes. He doubted that it was her sister's fault, and she was just defending herself. Of course he knew her the White Queen played a large part in starting the war, as it takes two to fight, but he seriously doubted that she was the first to attack. Though, what would he know, he never met the White Queen himself. When Phallon continued, Rico tilted his head slightly. It was a good question. He wasn't too sure himself. There was probably some kind of diplomacy, but if that was the case, he doubted it lasted long at all. .-=-.-=-. Lach slowly nodded at her words. “Huh, I mean that sounds fair, it makes sense,” he said. Personally he would always have a favourite place he had been even if there were a few of them, but she was different to him of course, so she must think differently. “You must have been to so many places, you've probably just forgotten most of them too,” he said, laughing softly.

(Haha. XD )
Tori laughed and reeled from him at his jest, the blush returning to her cheeks. She nudged him in return. I'll have you know, my relationship with nachos has been strong for seventeen years now, she told him. Just not to the same plate of them.
~*
Even in a hushed whisper, Celia heard his words plain as day. They did stir some kind of emotions within her, but due to the circumstances they were in, she didn't know how to properly categorize them. If nothing else, she at least knew the boy was telling her the truth. Why else would he stick around with her for so long? Maybe she liked him more than she thought. Why else would she have followed him here? How else would she have explained to surge of relief she felt in knowing he would be alright? But that part of her that controlled her sense of personal space nagged at her, telling her being around someone for so long would only drive her insane. She could tolerate his closeness for brief moments, but longer? Could she give him that kind of companionship? This was not what she signed up for. All she wanted was to retrieve her friend and bring him home, not deal with all this love stuff. Not to mention she had no energy to dedicate to working it out right now. Instead, the girl simply let her head fall to his shoulder when he pulled her closer, shaking slightly.
~*
"The time for diplomacy, as you put it, has come and passed. My sister won't listen to reason, even though it's what she prides herself for," The Red Queen replied, waving off the discussion as if shooing away a fly. "Enough of the why's and how's. You two will be show to your rooms. Tomorrow, I will meet with Phallon to see what it is that you'll be best for. In the mean time, I hope you will rest well." And with those words, the Cards entered the space once more, ready to lead the two to their rooms.
~*
"No, I remember them all," Celia told him. The Red Kingdom wasn't a big place. It'd take months to see everything, but that wasn't much in her opinion. Of course, she couldn't remember every detail of the places she went, but she could remember the most notable spots in each of the regions. "They're just all so different from each other. It makes trying to compare them hard."

It makes trying to compare them hard." (So how are you doing at the moment?) Maverick laughed at her answer, before gasping in mock shock. “Oh my, I certainly hope you didn't start a plate of nachos while you were still working on another one. Although, you probably would have eaten them both before either found out,” he said thoughtfully, before looking suspiciously down at his nachos. “I hope he isn't listening,” he said with a laugh. .-=-.-=-. Lachy stayed quiet for a few moments to try and see how Celia would respond. Yet, time passed and she still didn't say anything, she just kept looking at him. Honesty Lach was a little disappointed. He had been kinda hoping that his words would encourage her to actually respond with her own feelings, be it good or bad, yet she still didn't. Personally, he wasn't even sure what was holding her back. Maybe she didn't want to hurt him? The thought that she just didn't know how to process her own feelings didn't even really cross his mind. Though, his mind was silenced when Celia finally reacted, dropping her head to rest on his shoulder. That was enough. It probably wasn't as good as words, but it was enough. She had never made an action such as this with him. Lach took a deep breath and sighed, closing his eyes and gently resting his head against hers. Then, slowly he reached his other arm over, searching for her hand to hold. He could feel her shaking, and wanted to do what he could to get her to relax, at least a little. .-=-.-=-. Rico found it nearly amusing how the Queen seemed to blame the war solely on her sister. He knew that that was a ridiculous claim to make, as it always takes two to fight, however when she continued the boy looked back up. So they were going to go to their rooms now. Likely he knew he and Phallon would be separated. Yet he wasn't so nervous. The plus to living in the castle for about his whole life is that he knew the secret passageways throughout every room, some no one else even knew about, so he could get to Phallon easily. As the cards came to take them away, Rico turned to Phallon, making sure the Queen couldn't see his face, and mouthed, “See you soon.” .-=-.-=-. Lachy nodded slowly, shrugging. “I get that. They're all unique in their own way right? Must be nice for you to do all this exploring. No responsibilities, no work, you can buy what you want using the things you find on your travels. It sounds…relaxing,” he remarked, leaning over and gently nudging Celia, barely touching her, before quickly pulling back.

Tori laughed at his reaction. There was nothing in the world she loved more than him goofing off. His level of theatrics has increased over the years, and she absolutely adored it. She reached over and stole one of his nachos for herself. None of them would ever know, and none of them ever will, she told him, giving him a fake threatening look as she ate the chip.
~*
This was a strange experience to say the least. The last time she had ever been held like this was when she was a young girl, her mother comforting her after bad dreams or sprang ankles. Her impulse was to pull away, to stand up and brush aside that this had even happened in the first place. She could curl up on the floor with the blanket or her cloak and sleep just fine. But... there was a sense of... safety? Familiarity? She wasn't entirely sure. All she knew was that having him hold her wasn't as smothering as she thought. His head leaning against hers sent a shiver down her back, but whether it was registered as a good or ad thing was still unknown. Or maybe she was just too tired and scared out of her mind to really care. At the same time he reached for her hand, the girl had brought her knees up to her chest, about to wrap the blanket around them he took one of her hands.

"We have trails around my house, but at night, I like to have a sure footed path," Dallas lied. "That way I don't have to worry about tripping over roots or rocks and falling off into a gully somewhere. If I fall and get hurt on the road, then there's a good chance someone will run across me sooner than had I been in the woods. And by that I mean find me, not actually running across me."
~*
"I suppose it wouldn't hurt if you tried to teach me. You may regret the use and waste of your paint in the process, but I wouldn't mind," Charles said with a grin. Slowly Alexa nodded understanding his logic. "Yeah, that does make sense. You wouldn't want to get hurt out there badly from a fall with no one around. Who knows how long you'd be out there if you were hurt badly?" She probably would do exactly what he was doing if she ran at night as well. --- Amelia laughed, "oh yeah. But you know, if you do make a waste of my paint you'll probably buy more just to make up the difference. I will refuse but you'll do it anyways. But let's have a go at it. Let's just stop by the house for a minute to grab some canvases then we can go."

"Exactly," Dallas said with a chuckle. "At least on the road, there's a 50/50 chance that someone will stop and take pity on me." Just as he said that, a truck with it's lights blindingly bright, pulls to a screeching halt on the other side of the road. "That's Mat."
No sooner than the words were spoken, a man jumped out of the truck and strode over to them. The look on his face was hard to read, but at least it was angry like Dallas was sure it would have been had he been alone. "Dallas, are you alright?" he asked in a baritone voice that seemed to have a natural command to him.
~*
"You know me so well," Charles said with genuine fondness in his voice. He would indeed buy her more paint since it was the most sensible thing to do. "I would love to try my hand at painting. If it fails, then you'll have something to burn in the fireplace to keep warm."

I'm sorry to hear that though, I hope that clears up soon. I'm doing okay thanks. Learning Mandarin now, because we're moving to China, which is…daunting.) Maverick had definitely become more theatrical. He knew Tori loved it, and he honestly loved it too, it was always fun, and it always put a smile on his and Tori's face. Maverick gave her a look that was part suspicion and part horror. “So I'm sleeping in the same bed as a cereal killer?” he asked, his voice a hushed whisper. He then tilted his head, looking down. “Well, nacho killer, cereals are safe,” he paused, looking at Tori again, “right?” .-=-.-=-. Lachy didn't feel the shiver, but when he took her hand, he noticed that she didn't pull away, as he half expected her to. He choked up a little even, swallowing to keep himself steady. He couldn't help it, this was the closest he had ever been to Celia, willingly. And she wasn't trying to pull away. There was one thing nagging Lach though. What happens when they go back to Underland? What if everything just went back to how it was, that what's happening here is just a one off thing, because she was too tired to care? Gently shaking his head, the boy squeezed Celia’s shoulder and hand and slowly opened his eyes. “Why don't we lie down?” he asked quietly, thinking that it may be more comfortable, and definitely easier to sleep. .-=-.-=-. (Would you like to skip sometime, or rp this part out? Seeing their rooms and whatnot?) .-=-.-=-. Lachy caught the glance, but ignored it. He kinda expected it honestly. Then he slowly nodded and shrugged. “I can see both sides of the coin. Some people like their routine, it's comforting. If they was something different, they get a hobby. Personally, I think your way is more fun though, essentially your travels just pay for themselves, plus more sometimes I guess. I envy you,” he said, smiling at her. He then laughed. “I couldn't see you working a desk job at all, that's for sure.”

(Thanks. Things are getting better. It's just a slow process. Oh cool! That sounds fun and challenging at the same time. XD I've always thought Mandarin was a pretty language, but I know I would be horrible in trying to learn it. I believe in you though!)
Tori giggled. It never seemed to bother you before now. So long as you don't do anything to blow my cover, everything should be just fine she signed, reaching for another chip.

Somehow during that brief moment, Celia's eyes had fallen closed. The closeness of Lach's voice pulled her back to present, reminding her of the situation. She really was tired if she was already dozing off. "Yeah," she muttered, lifting her head slightly. She studied the couch for a moment. It wasn't the biggest in the world, put there would be room for two of them. Especially is she curled up on one end while Lach took the other. That was what she had imagined he meant when he brought up the idea.

(Eh, we can do whatever. I really didn't have anything planned, but if you want to describe the rooms we can. Or we can skip to their next interactions.)

The term "desk job" wasn't something she was familiar with, but from the sound of it, she could work out that it wasn't something she'd be interested in. Anything to do with desks sounded like letters or paperwork. As much as she liked to read, she would hate to be the one who actually had to write all day to make a story happen. "Maybe if you learn enough about how to survive on your own, you can go explore for yourself," she told him.

"Maybe if you learn enough about how to survive on your own, you can go explore for yourself," she told him. (I certainly hope it gets better for you, sooner rather than later would be nice. Definitely, and it's completely scary lol, it'll take a while to get used to it. And yeah it is a beautiful language. I'm primarily learning it through Duolingo, and learning it is easy, but remembering it is horrible yeah lol. It's just so different…) Maverick laughed, before giving her a look. “Is that a threat?” He asked, his voice sounding surprised. He then raised his eyebrow and took a chdp as well, sticking it in his mouth and crunching it down. When he was done, he tilted his head, “I think you're rubbing off on me.” .-=-.-=-. Amusingly, it wasn't quite what Lach had in mind when he suggested for her to lay down. He didn't voice what he was thinking though, she would find out in a moment. “Okay, turn a little that way,” he said, gently and slowly moving her because of how tired she was. Soon he had laid her out flat against the back of the chair, head on one side, feet on the other. He then lay down next to her, offering her a smile. Thankfully the couch was wide enough to fit them both comfortably, but Lach was still curious what Celia would think of the position, seeing as they were still rather close. .-=-.-=-. (Hmm, maybe so you want to skip to the next interaction? That's the only problem I'm having with this plot. We're going scene by scene, we don't seem to have an actual plan of what's happening…) .-=-.-=-. It took a moment after Lachy spoke before he realised that Celia probably didn't even know what the term ‘desk job’ meant, but he didn't bother correcting himself, as he was pretty sure that she would be able to figure it out. He was sure there were similar jobs here in Underland that could take that name. Chuckling slightly, he nodded. “Yeah, I can travel the kingdoms. The only problem is, I might get a little lonely. I'm not quite a lone wolf,” he said with a shrug. And in most cases that was true, but he did sometimes like doing things on his own.

(Yeah me too. My memory for spoken languages is bad too, so I understand your struggle. But once you use it enough, I'm sure you won't have a problem with it. ^^ )
Maybe, Tori admitted with a small laugh. She would never do anything to Mav. In fact, she doubted she would be able to hurt him even if she tried. And what do you mean by that?
~*
Celia tensed just out of pure instinct. Okay, this was not at all what she had been thinking. There had only ever been two or three times when she had been this close to Lach, and most of those times she had been weak and out of her mind with fever. She was almost a little afraid to look up at his face. While she knew he wasn't doing this to spite her, this was still pushing some kind of boundary. Yet she still struggled with that sense of safety. With him lying next to her, he had created the small space she had been longing for since the got here; the spot she could curl up and hide away in until this nightmare ended.

(Then let's form a plan. I think that'll help us in the long run. Did you have any ideas?)

"So I've noticed," Celia muttered, though her tone was neutral. The boy's need for constant company was becoming more and more apparent as the days went by. He seemed to miss or ignore all of her signs that she wished to be alone unless she was being as obvious as can be. Thankfully, Margrett or Toadsworth was more than happy to take most of his time, but now that she was us and about, she ran into him more in the small house.
